End-user computing (EUC) or as it is commonly termed, end-user development (EUD), is a concept and capability granted by advancement in technology that allows participants in a business environment to utilize information technology (IT) by developing applications of their own. Traditional methodology required a software program to be developed by trained programmers in the analysis and design stages of the systems development life cycle, where a user had to accept the program as an individual entity with unalterable characteristics. EUC/EUD now enables this person to customize the program around his/her specific demands. The framework of EUC establishes empowerment and capabilities so that anyone can develop entire information systems (IS) with little or no help from professional systems analysts or programmers, along with accessing data and creating reports (Laudon & Laudon, 2003). EUC/EUD is a topic in the IT environment that cherishes a progressive history spanning from the mid-1970’s to what it as today.

The acceleration of technology in business since the 1980s suggests that traditional management techniques, systems, and strategies employed in a business environment should be challenged. As a consequence of this acceleration, end-user computing (EUC) and end-user development (EUD) have also grown. Definitions of EUC developed in the 1980s continue to be used by contemporary researchers without regard to the changing technological environment, user experience, and user needs. Therefore, the authors challenge traditional definitions of EUC developed and used by researchers to ascertain whether they meet the needs of management for the 21st century. There is a conflict among traditional definitions that has not been addressed since the early 1990s (Downey & Bartczak, 2005). In this regard, the authors proffer that the management strategies for end-user (EU) systems development in the 21st century should suggest a different and proactive role for users. This paper summarises key traditional definitions from the literature and evaluates their consonance with the technology and business system environment. The impetus for researchers to rethink the traditional definition of EUC is provided through a real world management project involving the development of a university staff workload database that investigated the role of end-users in system enhancement and development.

Informasi sangat dibutuhkan dalam pengambilan keputusan. Sistem informasi yang efektif adalah sistem informasi yang harus mampu memberikan kepuasan kepada para penggunanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) dengan Instrumen Accuracy, Content, Format, Timeliness dan Ease of Use terhadap kepuasan pengguna sistem UG In Your Hand. Data yang digunakan sebanyak 96 responden yang diperoleh melalui kuesioner online yang dibagikan kepada Mahasiswa. Metode penelitian menggunakan model Regresi Linier Berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Instrumen Ease of Use dan Timeliness mempengaruhi kepuasan pengguna sistem, selain itu Instrumen Content, Accuracy dan Format tidak mempengaruhi kepuasan pengguna sistem UG In Your Hand.   Kata Kunci : Kepuasan Pengguna, UG In Your Hand, Metode EUCS

This study aims to use information technology, uncertainty or moderation duties and interactions between task uncertainty with the use of information technology to end user computing satisfaction. In this study used 70 respondents who actively use computers and working with several companies banking on the city of Padang. The data used are the primary data obtained through questionnaires. The study used three types of variables, the first is the independent variable, namely the utilization of information technology, both moderating variables, namely the uncertainty of the task, the third is the dependent variable is satisfaction of end user computing. The stages of hypothesis testing is done by using a regression model of moderating and statistical t-test. Based on the results of testing the first hypothesis (HI) was found to significantly influence the utilization of information technology to the satisfaction of end user computing. The second hypothesis (H2) testing results found that task uncertainty did not significantly influence the end user computing satisfaction. The third hypothesis (H3) testing found that the interaction or moderation between the use of technology with task uncertainty no significant effect on end user computing satisfaction.
