The New Organization

This chapter contributes by proposing the definition, the structure and the processes of Computational Organization Management Networks (COMN) which are new organizations whose principles of operation are based on the concepts of Hierarchic Cognitive Systems (as proposed in Chapter III) along with those of Telecommunications Management Networks of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T, 2000). Structured with functional layers and the roles which range from technical and managerial to institutional levels of analysis, and also equipped with technological, operational, managerial and business processes, the concept of Computational Organization Management Networks (COMN), as proposed in this chapter, plays an important part in the developments of future organizations where cognitive machines and Cognitive Information Systems (CIS) are prominent actors of governance, automation and control of the whole enterprise. Moreover, this chapter introduces the concept of immersive systems in order to provide the new organization with the capability of immersiveness.

This chapter proposes innovative features of future industrial organizations in order to provide them with the capabilities to manage high levels of environmental complexity in the 21st century. For such a purpose the author introduces the concept of Computational Organization Management Networks (COMN), which represents new organizations whose principles of operation are based on the concepts of Hierarchic Cognitive Systems (HCS) along with those of Telecommunications Management Networks (TMN). Structured with functional layers and cognitive roles that range from technical and managerial to institutional levels of analysis, and also equipped with operational, managerial and strategic processes, the concept of Computational Organization Management Networks (COMN) plays an important part in the developments of future organizations where cognitive machines and Cognitive Information Systems (CIS) are prominent actors of governance, automation and control of the whole enterprise. It is in such a context that the new organization COMN will provide customers and the whole environment with innovations such as immersiveness for the production of services and goods that are most customer-centric.

Transactional systems are an alternative process improvement for any industrial sector; however, due to the rapid growth of the plastics industry worldwide, this industry requires the automation of production with agile systems. This document presents a procedure to implement transactional tools of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) for the automation and control of the operations area processes in an organization. These processes are part of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools that use connections to mobile devices and are often compatible with different customer support systems, allowing the integration of all business units to interact with the manufacturing control and purchasing. The method used in the research have a quantitative cut in which 15 companies were studied in the plastics sector in Mexico and was divided in three phases, these focused on the revision of the business processes and the analysis of the substantive processes of the organization that allowed the subsequent establishment of proposals for improvement. In the final proposal of implementation of the tool tansaccional included: the functional analysis of the systems, the planning and their evaluation.

In this paper we exploit a basic type of three-stage Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) laser that by adjusting its input driving currents in the tri-electrode to generate signals with wavelengths that are in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)-Band. Many driving current combinations can generate the same ITU wavelength; we will consider in this paper the situation when the input currents are restricted within certain range and to find for all those input current combinations that generate output signals with wavelengths locating in the ITU defined wavelength range. And we will through simulations to determine which set of current combinations will generate the shortest switching time. We will also propose a new current control method, when we know in advance the signal will be switched to certain band, to determine the best current switching combinations that resulting in faster and shorter switching time than that of the conventional system structure which has the drawback that it has only one fixed current combinations for each channel.

The term «precision forestry» was first introduced and discussed at a conference in 2001. The aims of this paper are to explore the scientific roots of the precision concept, define «precision forestry», and sketch the challenges that the implementation of this new concept may present to practitioners, educators, and researchers. The term «precision» does not mean accuracy on a small scale, but instead refers to the concurrent coordination and control of processes at spatial scales between 1 m and 100 km. Precision strives for an automatic control of processes. Precision land use differs from precision engineering by the requirements of gathering,storing and managing spatio-temporal variability of site and vegetation parameters. Practitioners will be facing the challenge of designing holistic, standardized business processes that are valid for whole networks of firms,and that follow available standards (e.g., SCOR, WoodX). There is a need to educate and train forestry professionals in the areas of business process re-engineering, computer supported management of business transactions,methods of remote sensing, sensor technology and control theory. Researchers will face the challenge of integrating plant physiology, soil physics and production sciences and solving the supply chain coordination problem (SCCP).
