Case study research has its virtues in theory refinement and theory building. At the same time, this research method is criticized for low validity, poor generalizability and theory-induced bias that may reduce managerial relevance. Consortial benchmarking, where practitioners and researchers jointly benchmark “best practice” firms on a particular research question, is a new form of multi-case research that maximizes rigor, innovativeness and relevance as well as allowing researchers to take a systemic viewpoint when building theories in management. This chapter describes the concept and the application of consortial benchmarking. Consortial benchmarking contributes to unearth phenomena buried under traditional theories; it enhances existing approaches and contributes to building innovative theories. Due to the method’s multi-case nature results are sufficiently generalizable. Since the consortiums comprise academics and practitioners, researcher bias is minimized and relevance and validity are maximized.

Theory building from case studies is a research strategy that combines grounded theory building with case studies. Its purpose is to develop novel, accurate, parsimonious, and robust theory that emerges from and is grounded in data. Case research is well-suited to address “big picture” theoretical gaps and dilemmas, particularly when existing theory is inadequate. Further, this research strategy is particularly useful for answering questions of “how” through its deep and longitudinal immersion in a focal phenomenon. The process of conducting case study research includes a thorough literature review to identify an appropriate and compelling research question, a rigorous study design that involves artful theoretical sampling, rich and complete data collection from multiple sources, and a creative yet systematic grounded theory building process to analyze the cases and build emergent theory about significant phenomena. Rigorous theory building case research is fundamentally centered on strong emergent theory with precise theoretical logic and robust grounding in empirical data. Not surprisingly then, theory building case research is disproportionately represented among the most highly cited and award-winning research.

This paper represents a contribution to the consideration of the characteristics of the case study research method in sociological researches. In the first part of paper, some specifics of case study method are described, in the second part we represented ways of use of this method in field research. finally, third part of this paper indicates certain ?sub methods? within case study method, such as ?building blocks? and ?process tracing?, which are, at the same time, conditions for developing typological theories. Those ?sub methods? indicate evolution of case study method in social sciences during last few decades, as well as importance of existence and use of such ?elastic? method in all, especially field researches where researcher is facing with a series of cognitive concerns.

Mobile marketing is a new form of marketing communication using mobile communication techniques to promote goods, services, and ideas. The marketing instrument provides anytime and anywhere interaction, location and situation dependency, targeted addressing of consumers, and inherent measurement of campaign effectiveness. Based on case study research and empirical studies this chapter examines marketing objectives, types and implementation techniques of mobile marketing. Moreover two instruments for mobile marketing are provided: The campaign type implementation toolbox supports the development of campaigns on a tactical level and the campaign type selection toolbox enables a purposive planning of mobile marketing campaigns on a strategic level.

An Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) is a computer-based program that sets up for the retrieval process of the records that stored in the system.  This aim of the study was to investigate the effect of Electronic Recordkeeping implementation in Information Intensive Agency.  The objectives were to determine whether there is a policy in electronic recordkeeping in this agency, to identify whether staff at this agency has skills or knowledge in electronic recordkeeping and to identify the challenges facing the implementation of electronic recordkeeping in this agency.  A case study research method will be adopted to ensure greater reliability of data.  Data will be collected from 40 staff using questionnaires and interview, in order to respond to the above objectives.  Quantitative approaches will be used to analyze, present and interpret data and also supported by some interview from the expert.

Indisputably, networking offers many benefits in business. However, at the same time, it may also restrict the freedom of its actors. The aim of the paper is to complement the knowledge on the benefits and delimitations of networking by a two-step process. Firstly, the actors’ aims for independency and associability in their business relations are examined and based on these aims, different tendencies for networking are found. Furthermore, the paper discusses the resource portfolios of actors, and searches linkages between the actors’ resources and their networking tendencies. The research question of the paper is: “How the resource portfolio of an actor correlates with its tendency to form networks?” Case study research is used as the research strategy. A group of Finnish biomass heating enterprises is studied as the case, and four groups with different networking tendencies are recognized and further assessed. The results provide evidence that the actors tend to form different networks which differ from each other by the power relations and the openness of sharing social capital. In addition, it is noted that the actors differ in their resource portfolios. That creates dissimilar motives for cooperation and networking which are well-reflected with the four networking types found in the study. Key words: associability, bioenergy, independency, networking, resources.

The purpose of this study was to determine the results of accreditation on the standard aspects of PAUD management. This research method uses a documentary study method with a qualitative approach. This type of research in this study is a descriptive case study research. Based on the evaluation recapitulation of all aspects of the management standard that PAUD institutions on average do not yet have a work inspection and assessment document therefore it is a problem that the low achievement period of 8 standards in PAUD units that apply for accreditation in 2017 due to the low 2 aspects PAUD institutions have not yet been launched.
