scholarly journals Unlocking the Relationship between Talent Management Practices and Performance Sustainability in Sports Industry

The present study investigated the effect of talent management practices on performance sustainability in the sports industry. The study used the deductive reasoning approach to predict new cricketer performance sustainability. The hypotheses were tested using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques. The self-administered structured questionnaires were used to collect data. The total sample size was 270, which were collected from respondents playing in Bangladesh Premier League, Domestic and International matches. The results revealed that onboarding and engagement, player development, performance management, and strategic teamwork planning positively influence performance sustainability. However, the findings suggested that policymakers and other concerned authorities should implement this result to sustain players' performance continuously. Meanwhile, this is the first paper that applies talent management practices to magnify performance sustainability.

PurposeThis study aims to investigate whether strategy pillars have a positive direct effect on organizational productivity performance (OPP) in the Indonesian HEI (Higher Education Institutions) research setting and, if so, whether the effect is mediated by a performance management system (PMS).Design/methodology/approachThis study used quantitative research employing partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the hypotheses. A mediation model of the research framework was developed to investigate the mediating role of PMS.FindingsUsing a sample of 182 Indonesian HEI managers, the results indicate that strategy pillars have a positive effect on OPP. Further analysis shows that PMS partially mediates the strategy pillar–OPP relationship.Research limitations/implicationsThis study has limitations. Firstly, the sample size used was relatively small and this may raise the issue of generalization. Secondly, it used a Likert scale and therefore may raise the issue of judgment bias. Lastly, this study is context-specific for Indonesia and caution should be used when generalizing it to other countries.Practical implicationsTo enhance the HEIs productivity performance, the HEI managers should develop strong strategy pillars for the purpose of effective strategy formulation and execution.Social implicationsThis study provides a model showing how to improve the HEIs productivity performance by employing strategy pillars and a PMS. The better the performance of the HEIs, the better the quality of life of society in the era of the knowledge economy.Originality/valueStrategy pillars have rarely been researched. This study is therefore one of the few studies on strategy pillars. This study also provides new elements related to measuring strategy pillars, PMS and OPP in the context of HEIs in Indonesia as an emerging economy.

This study assesses understanding of Risk, and extent of risk management practices in Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) taxpayers in Malawi, subsequently, investigates their relationship with financial performance and tax compliance. The study focuses on unlimited business sectors of SME taxpayers which drew a representation of our sample of 324 SMEs, using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze and test hypotheses. Results indicate that half of the SME taxpayers are aware of risks, but only 23% of respondents underwent any training on risk management. 90% of respondents revealed that tax rates are the most significant business constraint; value-added tax (VAT) being the most challenging tax to file. Most respondents identified risks through experience, with risk management practices centering on Chief Executive Officers. Empirical evidence on Path analysis and bootstrapping results established a significant relationship between understanding risks, risk management practices, financial performance and Tax compliance, which is positive, signaling a roadmap for risk mitigation if tax administration is to widen its SME tax net.

This study aims to investigate the influence of trust, satisfaction, values, and brand image on the loyalty of MaxxCoffee. Data collection in this study was conducted using a questionnaire given to students of Universitas Pelita Harapan as respondents. The research design uses convenience sampling with a total sample of 249 samples. The data collection method is utilizing questionnaires and the data is analyzed by the Partial Least Square of Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings of this study are trust, satisfaction, and value have a positive effect on loyalty. Conversely, the brand image has no positive effect on Maxx Coffee customers’ loyalty. The contribution of this study is providing input to the management of Maxx Coffee to concern and maintain their trust, satisfaction, value, and brand image of Maxx Coffee to maintain the customers’ loyalty.

This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance mediated by job motivation. The population in this study included 134 Civil Servants in the Secretariat of the Bali District/City Election Commission with a total sample of 100 people using the proportional random sampling method. Data analysis techniques were performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. Job motivation is able to mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance partially. The Head of the Secretariat of the KPU of Regency/City in Bali needs to develop a transformational leadership style by providing motivation that inspires subordinates to work better when job motivation increases will be directly proportional to an increase in employee performance. In addition, a strong organizational culture such as information disclosure and participation of all members of the organization in achieving organizational goals can be developed continuously. When job motivation increases, it will encourage employees to improve the quality and timeliness of employees in completing work.

The research aims to analyze and test empirically the influence of the variable management of entrepreneurial performance, entrepreneurial orientation, and social competence on the variable of entrepreneurial sustainability, either directly or through competitive advantage variables. The sample is 125 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire instrument, using the google form application. Processing data using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling method. The results of descriptive analysis show that perceptions of entrepreneurial performance management are 79.68%, entrepreneurial orientation 89.44%, social competence 79.36%, competitive advantage 72.64%, entrepreneurial sustainability 89.28%. The results of quantitative analysis show that performance management, entrepreneurial orientation, and social competence have a positive effect on competitive advantage; Furthermore, performance management has no effect on entrepreneurial sustainability; but entrepreneurial orientation and social competence have a positive effect on entrepreneurial sustainability; then competitive advantage has a positive effect on entrepreneurial sustainability

The performance management system (management system) is a process to identify, measure, and evaluate the performance of an employee in an institution. An institution needs to implement performance management system so that employees feel both fair and comfortable in their duties. The same is true in the institution of the WH Banda Aceh, an institution that has the responsibility to preserve the values of sharia in Aceh.
