Hypergraphs are considered a useful mathematical tool for digital image processing and analysis since they can represent digital images as complex relationships between pixels or block of pixels. The notion of hypergraphs has been extended in fuzzy theory leading to the concept of fuzzy hypergraphs, then in intuitionistic fuzzy theory conducting to the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraphs or IFHG. The latter is very suitable to model digital images with uncertain or imprecise knowledge. This paper deals with color image denoising, segmentation, and edge detection in a color image initially represented in RGB space using intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraphs. First, the RGB image is transformed to HLS space resulting in three separated components. Then each component is intuitionistically fuzzified based on entropy measure from which an intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraph is generated automatically. The generated hypergraphs will be used for denoising, segmentation, and edge detection.

Most digital images have uncertainties associated with the intensity levels of pixels and/or edges. These uncertainties can be traced back to the acquisition chain, to uneven lighting conditions used during imaging or to the noisy environment. On the other hand, intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraphs are considered a useful mathematical tool for digital image processing since they can represent digital images as complex relationships between pixels and model uncertain or imprecise knowledge explicitly. This paper presents the approach for noisy color image segmentation and edge detection based on intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraphs. First, the RGB image is transformed to the HLS space resulting in three separated components. Then each component is intuitionistically fuzzified based on entropy measure from which an intuitionistic fuzzy hypergraph is generated automatically. The generated hypergraphs will be used for denoising, segmentation, and edges detection. The first experimentations showed that the proposed approach gave good results especially in the case of dynamic threshold.

Research in the field of digital image processing (DIP) has increased in the current scenario. Edge detection of digital images is considered as an important area of research in DIP. Detecting edges in different digital images accurately is a challenging work in DIP. Different methods have been introduced by different researchers to detect the edges of images. However, no method works well under all conditions. In this chapter, an edge detection method is proposed to detect the edges of gray scale and color images. This method focuses on the combination of Canny, mathematical morphological, and Sobel (CMS) edge detection operators. The output of the proposed method is produced using matrix laboratory (MATLAB) R2015b and compared with Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian of Gaussian (LoG), Canny, and mathematical morphological edge detection operators. The experimental results show that the proposed method works better as compared to other existing methods in detecting the edges of images.

The digital image processing is one way to manipulate one or more digital images. Image segmentation has an essential role in the field of image analysis. The aim of this study was to develop an application to perform digital image processing of neutron digital radiographic images, hoping to improve the image quality of the digital images produced. The quality of edge detection could be used for the introduction of neutron digital radiographic image patterns through artificial intelligence. Interaction of neutrons with the matter mainly by nuclear reaction, elastic, and inelastic scattering. A neutron can quickly enter into a nucleus of an atom and cause a reaction. It is because a neutron has no charge. Neutrons can be used for digital imaging due to high-resolution information from deep layers of the material. The attenuated neutron beam in neutron radiography are passing through the investigated object. The object in a uniform neutron beam is irradiated to obtain an image neutron. The technique used in segmenting the neutron radiography in this study was a digital technique using a camera with a charge-coupled device (CCD), which was deemed more efficient technique compared to the conventional one. Through this technique, images could be displayed directly on the monitor without going through the film washing process. Edge detection methods were implemented in the algorithm program. It was the first step to complement the image information where edges characterize object boundaries. It is useful for the process of segmenting and identifying objects in neutron digital radiography images. The edge detection methods used in this study were Sobel, Prewitt, Canny, and Laplacian of Gaussian. According to the results of the image that have been tested for edge detection, the best image was carried out by the Canny operator because the method is more explicit. The obtained edges were more connected than the other methods which are still broken. The Canny technique provided edge gradient orientation which resulted in a proper localization.

Image processing is the use of algorithms to perform various operations on digital images. The techniques that are explained further are image segmentation and image enhancement. Image Segmentation is a method to partition an image into multiple segments, to change the presentation of an image into something more meaningful and easier to analyze. The current image segmentation techniques include region-based segmentation and edge detection segmentation. Image Enhancement is the process of improving the quality of image. Under this section there are two broad divisions- Spatial Domain Technique and Frequency Domain Technique.

Edge detection of color image is a difficult problem in image processing. Although a lot of corresponding to methods have been proposed, however, none of them can effectively detect image edges while suppressing noises. In this paper, a novel edge detection algorithm of color images based on mathematical morphology is proposed. Through designing a new anti-noise morphological gradient operators, we can obtain better edge detection results. The proposed gradient operators are applied to detect edge for three components of a color image. An then, the final edge can be obtained by fusing the three edge results. Experimental results show that the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, the proposed algorithm has better effect of preserving the edge details and better robustness to noises than traditional methods.
