The ultra-thin film composed of chitosan (CS) and sulfated chitosan (SCS) was assembled on the titanium oxide surface by layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly methods. The titanium oxide film was treated by NaOH solution, followed by successively dipping the substrates in 5mg/ml sulfated chitosan (SCS) and 5mg/ml chitosan (CS) solutions alternatively, We hypothesized that this biologic coating may have the property of good biocompatibility, antibacteriostatic effect, anticoagulant activitves and enhancing sell biocompatibility.

A ferrocene labeled high molecular weight coenzyme derivative (PEI-Fc-NAD) was prepared by attaching both ferrocene (Fc) and coenzyme (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD+) to the backbone of poly (ethylenimine) (PEI). A NAD-dependent glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) was used with PEI-Fc-NAD to fabricate a multilayer film on gold electrode by layer-by-layer self-assembly method. The G6PDH/PEI-Fc-NAD multilayer film was characterized by atom force microscope and electrochemical experiment, which proved that a nanostructure thin film was immobilized by the LBL technique. The modified electrode showed the current response to glucose-6-phosphate in the absence of free coenzyme, and kept about 85% response after storage in buffer for 2 month.

TiO2 thin films were deposited on SAM-coated silicon substrate by layer-by-layer self-assembly method. The influence of various parameters was investigated to optimize the conditions and the results show that with increasing deposition temperature and deposition time, and decreasing molar ratio of HCl to TiO22+, the content of TiO22+ in the reaction solution decreases. The as-deposited thin films were fully amorphous from the result of XRD, also were homogeneous and continuous produced at 80 °C for120 min as presented in SEM images, and the average size of particles on the thin film surface is approximately 33 nm.
