In recent times, vocal fold problems have been increasing dramatically due to unhealthy social habits and voice abuse. Non-invasive methods like acoustic analysis of voice signals can be used to investigate such problems. Various feature extraction techniques are used to classify the voice signals into normal and pathological. Among them, long-time acoustical parameters are used by many researchers. The selection of best long-time acoustical parameters is very important to reduce the computational complexity, as well as to achieve better accuracy with minimum number of features. In order to select best long-time acoustical parameters, different feature reduction methods or feature selection methods are proposed by researchers. In this work, genetic algorithm (GA) based optimal selection of long-time acoustical parameters is proposed to achieve higher accuracy with minimum number of features. The classification is carried out using k-nearest neighbourhood (k-NN) classifier. In comparison with other works in the literature, the simulation results show that a minimum of 5 features are required to classify the voice signals by GA and a better accuracy of 94.29% is achieved.

Introduction. There are subjective and objective ways to examine the effects of vocal therapy in voice disorders. The most precise and objective check-up is the use of computer voice analysis. Objective. The aim of the research was to perform a detailed analysis of acoustic structure of the vowel A before and after voice treatment in patients with vocal fold nodules in order to obtain objective verification of the vocal rehabilitation success. Methods. We examined 30 female patients, aged 34.6?6.69 years, with vocal fold nodules. Acoustic parameters of voice were compared with the control group consisting of 21 subjects without voice pathology. In all persons the vowel A was recorded and analyzed before and after a month of vocal therapy. The success of the vocal therapy was tracked using computer analysis of vocal structure. Signal, noise and tremor parameters were processed. Results. Of the analyzed vowel A parameters: STD, PER, JITA, JITT, RAP, vFO, ShdB, SHIM, APQ, VTI, SPI, F0, NHR, FTRI, eleven improved (p<0.05 and p<0.01). Three parameters (F0, NHR, FTRI) changed showing improvement, but the obtained differences were not statistically significant (p>0.05). Conclusion. Based on the obtained results it was concluded that vocal therapy gave satisfactory results, but that it should be continually applied until full stabilization of the voice.

Sixteen patients with paralytic dysphonia were treated with Teflon injection in the paralyzed vocal fold. Trained voice pathologists rated the pre- and postinjection voices on a 5-point scale for each of 11 voice characteristics. Among these, aphonia, breathiness, and hypofunction diminished significantly after injection. The perceptual evaluation was correlated with acoustic data from long-time-average spectrum analysis, fundamental frequency distribution analysis, and waveform perturbation analysis. In this acoustic assessment, systematic changes were found in the long-time-average spectra, which agreed well with the perceptual data. In 12 of 16 patients the voice was both perceptually and acoustically improved after Teflon injection.

Aim of study: Evaluation of the speech therapy on voice quality in patients with unilateral vocal fold palsy. Material and methods: The study group included 11 patients, 8 women and 3 men, in age between 16 to 72 years, with unilateral vocal fold palsy, diagnosed in ENT Department of Warsaw Medical University between 2017-2018. Each person completed questionnaires: the voice disability self-assessment scale (VHI), the voice-based quality of life (VRQoL) scale, the vocal tract discomfort scale (VTD). All questionnaires were completed twice, before and after the voice therapy. In addition, the acoustic analysis of the voice, the assessment of the maximum phonation time and the breathing tract were performed twice in each patient. Each of the patients had a voice rehabilitation consisting of a series of 10 meetings. Results: Statistical analysis of the results of maximum phonation time, the self-assessment of voice disability, the quality of life depending on the voice, discomfort of the vocal tract voice acoustic analysis showed statistically significant differences in the results before and after rehabilitation (p <0.005). In addition, the improvement of the respiratory tract was observed in the majority of patients. Conclusions: Speech therapy significantly affects the voice quality of patients with unilateral laryngeal nerve palsy.

Abstract Oil and gas production wells are often equipped with modern, permanent or temporary in-well monitoring systems, either electronic or fiber-optic, typically for measurement of downhole pressure and temperature. Consequently, novel methods of pressure and temperature transient analysis (PTTA) have emerged in the past two decades, able to interpret subtle thermodynamic effects. Such analysis demands high-quality data. High-level reduction in data noise is often needed in order to ensure sufficient reliability of the PTTA. This paper considers the case of a state-of-the-art intelligent well equipped with fiber-optic, high-precision, permanent downhole gauges. This is followed by screening, development, verification and application of data denoising methods that can overcome the limitation of the existing noise reduction methods. Firstly, the specific types of noise contained in the original data are analyzed by wavelet transform, and the corresponding denoising methods are selected on the basis of the wavelet analysis. Then, the wavelet threshold denoising method is used for the data with white noise and white Gaussian noise, while a data smoothing method is used for the data with impulse noise. The paper further proposes a comprehensive evaluation index as a useful denoising success metrics for optimal selection of the optimal combination of the noise reduction methods. This metrics comprises a weighted combination of the signal-to-noise ratio and smoothness value where the principal component analysis was used to determine the weights. Thus the workflow proposed here can be comprehensively defined solely by the data via its processing and analysis. Finally, the effectiveness of the optimal selection methods is confirmed by the robustness of the PTTA results derived from the de-noised measurements from the above-mentioned oil wells.

Diagnosis and treatment of laryngeal diseases in vocalists remains one of the most important tasks of otorhinolaryngology. One of the causes of vocal dysfunction in vocalists is functional dysphonia. Among the factors leading to the development of functional disorders of the larynx, a significant role is given to non-compliance with the vocal regime and vocal technique. The high frequency of voice function disorders among vocalists and the existing diagnostic difficulties determine the relevance of this problem and the need for further research. Objectives: Improvement of the effectiveness of diagnostics of laryngeal diseases and phonopedic rehabilitation in vocalists by identifying the features of the mechanism of voice-leading while the larynx is in a vocal position and the use of the individual vocal technique. Materials and methods: An examination of 10 vocalists with complaints of impaired vocal function was conducted. The age of the patients ranged from 18 to 43 years. The method includes performing video endolaryngoscopy and video stroboscopic endolaryngoscopy using a flexible video rhino-pharynx-laryngoscope during functional tests. Simultaneously with the endoscopy of the larynx, an audio recording of the voice followed by computer acoustic analysis was done. Conclusions: This method makes it possible to evaluate the patient’s phonation in a vocal position and when using various vocal techniques, as well as to determine objective acoustic indicators. The results obtained are necessary for the selection of phonopedic correction methods. The proposed method increases the effectiveness of the diagnosis of laryngeal diseases and phonopedic rehabilitation in vocalists.

SUMUT Bank is one of the Banks in Indonesia with the name of the company PT. Regional Development Bank of North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Bank has branches in each region in North Sumatra both in the district and in the sub-district, and each of these branches is led by a branch leader or branch head. The head of this branch is responsible for the reversal of the Bank being led. The best and most accomplished branch heads deserve more and more awards. The selection of the best branch heads is selected transparently and structured in the hope that it can be a motivation for all branch heads to be able to further improve the quality and service of the Bank they lead. Making the best branch head selection done manually will take a long time and tends to be less transparent and structured. One solution so that the implementation of the selection can be carried out easily and quickly, it requires a Decision Support System that can provide consistency of assessment. In this study the method used is the VIKOR method (Visekriterijumsko Kompromisno Rangiranje). This method makes cracking on alternatives based on criteria that have been determined with an ideal compromise solution or the best solution, so that this system can later be beneficial for the SUMUT Bank to get the title in determining the best branch head.Keywords: Decision Support System, North Sumatra Bank, Branch Head, Vikor
