The dynamic performance of PingQiao of abnormal high tower crane is particularly important to the whole structure. Using the finite element method to set up the finite element parametric model of PingQiao of the abnormal high tower crane, and then making dynamic analysis. Taking the analysis result as the objective function of the optimization design model,and using the optimization algorithm module of ANSYS to make dynamic optimization design of PingQiao structure,the quality of PingQiao of the abnormal high tower crane is effectively reduced, the dynamic performance of the metal structure is improved,this lays the foundation for the whole optimization.

In order to improve the riveting precision, the finite element method and topological optimization design based on the variable density method were employed to design the pedestal of horizontal rocket rivet fixture. Topological optimization model was set up based on static analysis of the original designed pedestal under various typical load cases. Topological optimization results of various load cases were compared with original pedestal. The result showed deficiencies of the original pedestal, and a new model was built based on topological optimization results. The analysis of topological model was carried out by applying the finite element method. The results show that the stiffness of pedestal was remarkably improved; the stress distribution was more homogenized and the displacement of the guide rail was decreased after optimization. This method could also provide reference and guidance for designing other complicated structures.

In order to improve the effect of dynamic optimization design for forklift truck mast,the influence factors of dynamic performance for forklift truck mast were analyzed. Combining the actual characteristics of the forklift truck mast, considering the influence factors of dynamic performance for forklift truck mast, seven dynamic optimization design principles for forklift truck mast were proposed. According to the dynamic optimization design principles for forklift truck mast, the 2.5 ton forklift truck mast was designed and analyzed. The simulation results show that forklift truck mast which was optimized has good dynamic performance. The dynamic optimization principles which were proposed can improve design quality of forklift truck mast.

Abstract The paper describes the intention of the authors to determine whether it is possible to predict relative belt edge endurance for radial passenger car tires using the finite element method. Three groups of tires with different belt edge configurations were tested on a fleet test in an attempt to validate predictions from the finite element results. A two-dimensional, axisymmetric finite element analysis was first used to determine if the results from such an analysis, with emphasis on the shear deformations between the belts, could be used to predict a relative ranking for belt edge endurance. It is shown that such an analysis can lead to erroneous conclusions. A three-dimensional analysis in which tires are modeled under free rotation and static vertical loading was performed next. This approach resulted in an improvement in the quality of the correlations. The differences in the predicted values of various stress analysis parameters for the three belt edge configurations are studied and their implication on predicting belt edge endurance is discussed.

Abstract The paper considers the failure study of concrete structures loaded by the pressure wave due to detonation of an explosive material. In the paper two numerical methods are used and their efficiency and accuracy are compared. There are the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) and the Finite Element Method (FEM). The numerical examples take into account the dynamic behaviour of concrete slab or a structure composed of two concrete slabs subjected to the blast impact coming from one side. The influence of reinforcement in the slab (1, 2 or 3 layers) is also presented and compared with a pure concrete one. The influence of mesh density for FEM and the influence of important parameters in SPH like a smoothing length or a particle distance on the quality of the results are discussed in the paper

In order to process heterotype hole of workpiece precisely, an open abrasive flow polish machine is designed, and the optimization design of machine frame is done for low cost. Firstly, basing on the parameters designed with traditional ways, three-dimensional force model is set up with the soft of SolidWorks. Secondly, the statics and modal analysis for machine body have been done in Finite element methods (FEM), and then the optimization analysis of machine frame has been done. At last, the model of rebuild machine frame has been built. Result shows that the deformation angle value of machine frame increased from 0.72′ to 1.001′, the natural frequency of the machine decreased from 75.549 Hz to 62.262 Hz, the weight of machine decreased by 74.178 Kg after optimization. It meets the strength, stiffness and angel stiffness requirement of machine, reduces the weight and cost of machine.

In this study, the rapid growth of corrugation caused by the bad quality of grinding works and their wavelength, depth, and evolution processes are captured through field measurements. The residual grinding marks left by poor grinding quality lead to further crack accumulation and corrugation deterioration by decreasing plastic resistance in rails. In this case, the average peak-to-peak values of corrugation grow extremely fast, reaching 1.4 μm per day. The finite element method (FEM) and fracture mechanics methodologies were used to analyze the development and trends in rail surface crack deterioration by considering rails with and without grinding marks. Crack propagation trends increase with residual grinding marks, and they are more severe in circular curve lines. To avoid the rapid deterioration of rail corrugation, intersections between grinding marks and fatigue cracks should be avoided.

To determine the efficiency, load-bearing capacity and fatigue life of beveloid gears with intersecting axes, we design a mechanical gear test bed with closed power flow. To test the quality of its structure and predict its overall performance, we establish a three-dimensional solid model for various components based on the design parameters and adopt the technology of virtual prototyping simulation to conduct kinematics simulation on it. Then observe and verify the interactive kinematic situation of each component. Moreover, the finite element method is also utilized to carry out structural mechanics and dynamics analysis on some key components. The results indicate that the test bed can achieve the desired functionality, and the static and dynamic performance of some key components can also satisfy us.

In this paper the reduction analysis of the so-called ‘booming noise’, which occurs due to the resonance of a vehicle cabin, is tried to carry out by using the finite element method. For the reduction method a Helmholtz resonator, which is well known in the field of acoustics, is attached to a vehicle cabin. The resonance frequency of a Helmholtz resonator can be varied by adjusting the length of its throat. The simply shaped Helmholtz resonator is set up to the back of the cabin according to the resonance frequency of the cabin and the frequency response of the sound pressure at a driver’s ear position is calculated by using the finite element method. It is confirmed that the acoustical characteristics of the cabin is changed largely by attaching the resonator and the sound quality is quite varied. The resonance frequency of the resonator can be considered to follow the acoustical characteristics of the cabin by using an Origami structure as a throat. So, in the future the analysis by using an Origami structure Helmholtz resonator should be performed.

Computational simulation is widely used in companies to perform analysis and improve the quality of products and projects. Most of these analyses are carried out using software that uses the Finite Element Method, which allows to obtain answers to numerous engineering problems. In this study, two examples of application to the study of tunnels of the Finite Element Method using the Geostru Software "GFAS - Geotechnical F.E.M. Analysis System" are proposed. The case of a tunnel excavated inside a granite rock massif was analyzed, first determining the state of stresses in the cavity contour through a theoretical method and comparing these results with those obtained in the software. Then, by means of finite element modeling, the settlements induced by the excavation were determined. Finally, the problem of tunnel excavation in a viscoplastic rock mass is presented and the authors propose a comparison of the analytical and numerical method.
