By analyzing the features of ETG (Electronic Tourist Guide) system, this paper discussed the key technologies about its implementation: Map matching, attractions positioning and guide, route planning. We focus on solving map matching problem based on interpolation method and weight-based map matching algorithm, then we propose an attractions positioning and guide process; and also working on the route planning problem through an improved Ant colony algorithm.

Map matching is a key preprocess of trajectory data which recently have become a major data source for various transport applications and location-based services. In this paper, an online map matching algorithm based on the second-order hidden Markov model (HMM) is proposed for processing trajectory data in complex urban road networks such as parallel road segments and various road intersections. Several factors such as driver’s travel preference, network topology, road level, and vehicle heading are well considered. An extended Viterbi algorithm and a self-adaptive sliding window mechanism are adopted to solve the map matching problem efficiently. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a case study is carried out using a massive taxi trajectory dataset in Nanjing, China. Case study results show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm outperforms the baseline algorithm built on the first-order HMM in various testing experiments.

The artificial potential field method is usually applied to the path planning problem of driverless cars or mobile robots. For example, it has been applied for the obstacle avoidance problem of intelligent cars and the autonomous navigation system of storage robots. However, there have been few studies on its application to intelligent bridge cranes. The artificial potential field method has the advantages of being a simple algorithm with short operation times. However, it is also prone to problems of unreachable targets and local minima. Based on the analysis of the operating characteristics of bridge cranes, a two-dimensional intelligent running environment model of a bridge crane was constructed in MATLAB. According to the basic theory of the artificial potential field method, the double-layer artificial potential field method was deduced, and the path and track fuzzy processing method was proposed. These two methods were implemented in MATLAB simulations. The results showed that the improved artificial potential field method could avoid static obstacles efficiently.

Spatial information technology has been widely used for vehicles in general and for fleet management. Many studies have focused on improving vehicle positioning accuracy, although few studies have focused on efficiency improvements for managing large truck fleets in the context of the current complex network of roads. Therefore, this paper proposes a multilayer-based map matching algorithm with different spatial data structures to deal rapidly with large amounts of coordinate data. Using the dimension reduction technique, the geodesic coordinates can be transformed into plane coordinates. This study provides multiple layer grouping combinations to deal with complex road networks. We integrated these techniques and employed a puncture method to process the geometric computation with spatial data-mining approaches. We constructed a spatial division index and combined this with the puncture method, which improves the efficiency of the system and can enhance data retrieval efficiency for large truck fleet dispatching. This paper also used a multilayer-based map matching algorithm with raster data structures. Comparing the results revealed that the look-up table method offers the best outcome. The proposed multilayer-based map matching algorithm using the look-up table method is suited to obtaining competitive performance in identifying efficiency improvements for large truck fleet dispatching.
