In the early day of environment monitoring, the measurement is generally done through manual measurement from simple and analog instrument which suffer from the drawbacks like poor accuracy, need of human intervention, associated parallax errors and durability. The rapid development in electronic technology has made reliable integration of smart electronic sensors, processor, and communication device capable of monitoring environmental parameters more favorably. A system for ambient air condition monitoring has been developed as described in this paper. It is based on the embedded system, smart electronic sensor, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, and the terminal monitor by the Graphical User Interface (GUI).

This paper presents the possible new design paradigm that emerged during the author’s design of an embedded communication device for Croatian Navy. Prior to codesign techniques that emerged in 1990's the traditional embedded design methodology involved problem specification, separate hardware and software specification, integration, and the system test as the final step in the embedded device design. Such an approach can potentially lead to numerous iterations and can increase the cost of the development cycle because there are no guarantees that separately developed software will work well with separately designed hardware. Codesign techniques, on the other hand, delay the decision to which components of hardware or software will be used for embedded system until late stages of embedded design process. At the time of the invention of the codesign techniques this seemed as perfectly balanced approach between design of hardware and software spending about equal time in the design of both hardware and software components. However, since the 1990’s the design of embedded devices has changed; nowadays the most working hours are spent in the design of software while the design of hardware requires less working hours due to extensive choice of IC’s and supporting electronic circuits, and due to advancement of EDA software tools. In favor of the software-driven approach presented in this paper, it should be noted that nowadays, there is a large number of freely-available software components and libraries which, if properly utilized, greatly expedite the development of the software part of the embedded system design. Therefore, perhaps it is a suitable time for a new paradigm shift where the design of the hardware is completely dictated by the design of software, and the design of the hardware is simply the matter of selecting proper IC’s and other electronic circuitry that supports the software. In this paper, we present an example of the embedded design using this software-driven design strategy. By the end of this paper, it is shown that software-driven design not only allows the rapid prototyping of embedded devices, but it reduces the possibility of design errors, as well. In this paper, an open source web service software—gSOAP which is transplanted to the embedded Linux is proposed. Web service is not only an application entity for building applications, but also a distributed applications platform which runs operations interoperably. It can also execute all kinds of operating systems (OS) which support HTTP protocol. With the rapid development of the embedded system, lots of open-source software is transplanted to the embedded platform by embedded operating systems.

With the rapid development of computer technology, embedded system is more and more widely used. The embedded hardware system was designed by taking Samsung ARM7TDMI CPU as the core. And a small uClinux system was embedded into this hardware system. Various kinds of applications in uClinux system can be developed. This thesis introduced one of those applications, which is embedded web server and its protocol-HTTP. In this thesis, the embedded system based on ARM had been developed. Our embedded system has the characters of low cost and high efficiency. It is at large applicated on business forwardly.

Nowadays, condition monitoring and intelligent fault diagnosis methods research of the needling loom in our country is still a blank. How to establish appropriate monitoring methods under different working conditions becomes an important issue. In this article, some methods in terms of the open system construction proposed to work out the problems above. This open system take full advantage of the rapid development of hardware and software technology, and its remote update function enrich remote monitoring methods, providing online or offline information to remote monitoring terminals for different processing conditions, integrated with realizing the needle loom field condition monitoring and physical state online detections.

With the rapid development of the computer computing, the embedded system has been widely used in industrial control, home appliances, mobile communications and other industries. This paper mainly studies the data acquisition and processing of embedded data. First, it introduces the integrated development environment of ARM, and analyzes the operation process of LINUX on ARM. Then, it studies the data processing of the embedded system based on the principles of embedded system and presents the butterfly algorithm according to discrete Fourier transform (DFT) Principle, which is realized on the basis of S3C2410X microprocessor. Finally, the decimation-in-time radix-2 FFT computation block diagram is established, which lays a foundation for the future programming.

In the 21st century, with the rapid development of computer science and technology, the usage of all kinds of embedded system is increasingly common. The function of the embedded system is more and more strong, and there has many kinds of embedded systems, the range of application is gradually expanded. With the requirements of application, embedded system experienced the changes from single application system to integrated system. However, because the current integrated systems mostly are limited to the stand-alone usage, this does not give full play to the application and function of the embedded system. The paper was based on the limitations of XML embedded system of the J2ME platform, and it provided optimization design to current limitations, at the same time it made the application and function get the promotion.
