Spray foam thermal insulations are one of new materials, which are now considerably applied in building practice and which are therefore also the aim of current research. In building practice is an effort to apply these materials to very rugged surfaces in both the external and the internal side of the structure. On the interior side, however, the application is connected with the risk of condensation, which is difficult to verify by the measurement. The contribution is focused just on the comparison of methods and measuring devices designed for immediate detection of moisture in the material of sprayed polyurethane foam. The samples of thermal insulation, which have undergone exposing of humidity in accordance with Czech Standards, were compared by the experimental assessment. The obtained results were compared and evaluated, while as expected, the moisture measuring of highly porous thermal insulation is significantly more difficult than the measuring of thermal insulations made of conventional homogeneous building materials.

This article engages in a survey on the countryside’s building materials in Zhejiang province, and indicates problems in the new countryside construction during the early 1990s to 2005: on one side, rarely few new materials for energy-conservation is being used; on the other side, traditional materials of local characteristics are abandoned. Therefore, this article indicates a range of materials which make improvement or innovation on traditional ones for the characteristic of Zhejiang rural areas. Then comparison is made between clay brick and these ecological materials. As a result, this guides villagers to improve the indoor thermal comfort and to promote rural economic development without large investment.

Production of building materials is mostly energy consuming. In the sphere of insulation materials we mostly see rock wool based materials or foam-plastic materials whose production process is demanding from material aspect and raw materials aspect as well. At present the demand for thermal insulation materials has been growing globally. The thermal insulation materials form integral part of all constructions in civil engineering. The materials mainly fulfill the thermal insulating functions and also the sound-insulating one. The majority of thermal insulation materials are able to fulfill both of the functions simultaneously. The paper describes questions of thermal insulation materials development with good sound properties based on natural fibres that represent a quickly renewable source of raw materials coming from agriculture. The main advantage of the materials are mainly the local availability and simple renewability of the raw materials. In addition an easy recycling of the materials after their service life end in the building construction and last but not least also the connection of human friendly properties of organic materials with advanced product manufacture qualities of modern insulation materials.

Eco-friendly building materials with perfect thermal insulation & sound absorption property have become intriguing and eye-catching in recent years. In this work, the ultra low-density binderless sandwiching materials were firstly fabricated with ultra low-density of 60-80 kg/m3 by self-designed rapid steam injection technology. The main experimental factor of density, holding time, transmission time, steam injection pressure and fiber’s dimension was respectively investigated to their effects on formation of the new building materials. IR, Py GC-MS and AFM analysis were performed to study the mechanism of binderless sandwiching materials under steam injection process. The bending strength, thermal insulation & sound absorption property of the new materials were also studied. This new building material with no resin use and no formaldehyde release is expected to be reserved as the sandwich for designing thermal insulation & noise reduction building materials.

If the surface temperature of any building material drops sharply without changing the humidity and the surface temperature is lower than the dew point temperature, dew-like water droplets are formed on the surface of this material. This condition is called condensing humidity condition. Condensation moisture formed on the surfaces of building materials and external barriers is slowly absorbed into the body of building materials over time, increasing the relative humidity of this structure. Condensation moisture can be observed when the temperature of the surfaces of external barrier structures drops sharply. This condition can be observed everywhere where the basement is connected to the outer walls of the basement. The article deals with the issue of thermal insulation and calculation of basement walls of modern energy-efficient buildings, which are widely used in the country and abroad.
