Single-crystal PbTiO3 nanoflakes have been synthesized successfully by a hydrothermal method. The as-prepared powders were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). It was found that KOH concentration played a key role in the growth of single-crystal tetragonal perovskite PbTiO3 nanoflakes, and the morphology of PbTiO3 crystallites can be controlled by adjusting the KOH concentration.

A simple and efficient microemulsion-based technique, which used the new Tx-100/cyclohexanol/H2O system, was developed to synthesize SrCrO4 nanowire based nanostructures, including nanowire bundles and flower-like structures at different temperature. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) were used to characterize the products. Studies found that the reaction temperatures and the reaction systems have great influences on the final products. Optical properties studies by UV-Vis spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra confirmed that the as-obtained nanowires showed distinct optical activity under UV and visible light irradiation.

BiFeO3 polyhedrons had been successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal method. The as-prepared products were characterized by power X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The possible mechanisms for the formation of BiFeO3 polyhedrons were discussed. Though comparison experiments, it was found that the kind of precursor played a key role on the morphology control of BiFeO3 crystals.

In this paper, employing Cu(AC)2•H2O, SnCl2•2H2O and thiourea as raw materials, the composites of graphene/Cu2SnS3 quantum dots (QDs) were prepared simply and quickly using the hydrothermal method. Meanwhile, the separate Cu2SnS3 QDs were also synthesized in the same way. The as-obtained Cu2SnS3 QDs and composites’ phase structures were analyzed and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results indicated that the size of the Cu2SnS3 QDs in the composites were less than that of the separate Cu2SnS3 QDs. At the same time, their morphologies were also observed and cross-confirmed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and the measurements manifested that Cu2SnS3 QDs were uniformly dispersed on the surface of the graphene, while the separate Cu2SnS3 QDs have obvious glomeration. In addition to this, elemental analysis was also made to verify the existence of Cu2SnS3 on the surface of graphene.

Nanosized catalysts composed of metallic copper supported on zinc oxide have been synthesized by the polyol process. Average crystallite size of copper was between 10 and 45 nm. Cu/ZnO catalyst particles were characterized by various techniques, such as X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED), and dynamic light scattering analysis (DLS).

Lithium titanate powders of different morphologies were synthesized by improved hydrothermal technique, which was performed at 90°C and atmospheric pressure for 20 h. By changing the solution in the reaction, nanoparticles, flowers petal-like structures, and nanorods of lithium titanate have been obtained, especially nanoparticles with well-crystalline structures were obtained. The morphology and micro-structure of the as-synthesized products were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) and selected-area electron diffraction (SAED).

An inorganic/organic magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized and analytically characterized using X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and thermal analysis. The evaluation of the magnetic properties revealed that both the magnetite and the magnetite/chitosan nanocomposite are superparamagnetic with a paramagnetic component, having the saturation magnetization values of 48.04 emu/g, and 41.3 emu/g, respectively. The synthesized material is indented for the adsorption of two known commercial-available pesticides (active ingredients deltamethrin and thiamethoxam, respectively) from aqueous solutions.

By means of sonochemical method, Fe 3 O 4 and ZnFe 2 O 4 nanocrystallines can be synthesized from FeCl 2/ urea and ZnCl 2/ FeCl 2/ urea in water. The products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as selected area electron diffraction (SAED). Special attention was paid to the microstructure of the nanocrystallines using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HREM). Probable mechanisms for the sonochemical formation of Fe 3 O 4 and ZnFe 2 O 4 nanocrystallines are discussed.

L-Cystine was successfully used as a novel kind of sulfur source to synthesize the nanostructure of ribbon-like Sb2S3. The nanoribbons were usually tens of micronmeters in length, typically 100-300 nm in width. The nanostructure of ribbon-like Sb2S3 were examined using diverse techniques including X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected-area electron diffraction, and high-resolution TEM.
