In this study, composite metastable (Ti0.49Al0.49Y0.02)N, (Ti0.44Al0.44Cr0.1Y0.02)N and (Ti0.34Al0.34Cr0.3Y0.02)N coatings were respectively deposited on a wrought martensite steel 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV for aero-engine compressor blades by arc ion plating technique with a pulse substrate bias. All the coatings have B1NaCl phase structure with a (220) preferred orientation and dense structures. The introduction of chromium into the coatings gave rise to a minute shrinkage of crystal lattice and a decrease of crystal size. Annealed at 800°C, Oxidation-resistance of the coatings improved with increased Cr content. But heat-treated at 900°C, the incorporation of Cr gave rise to obvious decrease of oxidation-resistance.

Composite metastable Ti0.5Al0.5N, Ti0.49Al0.49Y0.02N and Ti0.48Al0.48Y0.04N coatings were deposited on a wrought martensite steel 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV for aero-engine compressor blades by arc ion plating respectively all coatings possessed a dense surface and the same B1NaCl phase structure and the lattice parameter increased with increase of the incorporated element Y. Oxidation-resistance of (Ti,Al,Y)N coatings at 800 for up to 500 hr was investigated and the results showed that the introduction of yttrium into the coatings dramastically improved the oxidation-resistance of the coatings in air. The presence of Y in the nitride coatings suppresses the outer diffusion of Fe through the nitride coating. And the oxide of yttrium may segregate to the grain boundaries of oxides, suppressing the outward diffusion of metallic elements in coating and the inward diffusion of oxygen. Besides, the existence of adequate Y in the coatings is in favor of suppression of the growth of oxide crystals, formation layered oxide scale and decrease of compressive stress of oxidation.

Depositing TiN Film on the surface of 4Cr5MoSiV1 with multi-arc ion plating technology method. And 350°C, 450°C, 550°C and 650 °C short oxidation test and 550 °C cyclic oxidation test. By scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron spectrometry (EDS) to analysis micro-structure and phase structure of test samples, study TiN film on oxidation resistance, and utilize indentation method to measure mechanical properties. Results show: In a short time under oxidizing conditions, at 550 °C the TiN film still has a good oxidation resistance. The film still have a sufficient bonding strength below 600 °C.

Approximately 2 μm thick CrN and CrAlN coatings were synthesized on silicon and spring steel substrate by multi-arc ion plating technology. The nanoindentation techniques, Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) analysis, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and oxidation furnace were used to investigate the mechanical property, oxidation resistance and microstructure of the coatings. The XRD data showed that the CrN and CrAlN coatings exhibited B1 NaCl structure. Nanoindentation measurements showed that as-deposited CrN and CrAlN coatings exhibited a hardness of 19 and 30 GPa respectively. Compared with CrN coatings, the CrAlN composite coatings show much better oxidation resistance. And the oxidation resistance ability will enhance with increasing Al content, because A12O3 will form after oxidation in high temperature condition which could reduce the diffusivity ability of oxygen.
