Risk is a concept that denotes the probability of the occurrence of dangers. The factors that generate fires and dangers are numerous, and always emerge in unapparent places. Once these factors are identified, a fire accident would happen and lead to great loss. For the fires happening in tall buildings that caused immense loss, the function of planned fire separation system was destroyed because the users had weak fire prevention concepts. One of the typical examples is the fire that happened and spread over Don-ke Building in Sijhih City, Taipei County, Taiwan. Based on the damage prevention concepts of property insurance agents, the study focused on the importance of the fire prevention management in tall buildings. The other part that was paid attention to is the Fire Safety Building strongly encouraged and propelled by the Architecture and Building Research Institute of Ministry of the Interior, with which the study conducted an investigation on fire risk management.

Abstract There are many iconic high rise buildings in Hong Kong, for example, International Commercial Centre, International Financial Centre, etc. Fire safety issue in high rise buildings has been raised by local fire professionals in terms of occupant evacuation, means of fire-fighting by fire fighters, sprinkler systems to automatically put off fires in buildings, etc. Fire risk becomes an important issue in building fire safety because it relates to life safety of building occupants where they live and work in high rise buildings in Hong Kong. The aim of this research is to identify the fire risk for different types of high rise buildings in Hong Kong and to optimise the fire prevention management for those high rise buildings with higher level of fire risk and to validate the model and also to carry out the study of the conflict between the current fire safety building code and the current trend of green building design. Survey via the 7-point scale questionnaire was conducted through 50 participants and their responses were received and analysed via the statistical tool SPSS software computer program. A number of statistical methods of testing for significantly difference in samples were adopted to carry out the analysis of the data received. When the statistical analysis was completed, the results of the data analysis were validated by two Fire Safety Experts in this area of specialisation and also by quantitative fire risk analysis.

Designing a fire prevention inspection system in buildings is very necessary, to determine the level of reliability. The fire prevention management system uses the following criteria: precautionary measures and preventive supervision against fire hazards. The assessment of the system design is carried out by means of a questionnaire for respondents who understand / are experts in fire problems, and the application of the system design uses direct surveys and questionnaires to the building manager. The assessment is carried out at the smallest level. Analysis of the building reliability inspection system in fire prevention using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, the criteria used are: prevention, limitation and extinguishing against fire. The fire prevention management system uses the following criteria: precautionary measures and preventive supervision against fire hazards. The results of the reliability inspection of the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Mako Kodiklatal building in Surabaya with a value of 94.06% indicated that the reliability system was in the "Less Reliable" category for fire hazard prevention.   Keywords: Inspection, fire prevention, reliability.

During a fire in enclosed spaces, having structures with a good level of resistance is very important. The post flashover fire time interval, during which rescue squads operate, is important to verify if the structure can still resist fire for an acceptable time interval. This can be determined through the REI value. Hence, the way the fire develops must be examined together with the trend of the temperature that might guarantee that the structure will resist the heat flux released during the combustion. This article examines and compares, through a case study, the most important methods for analysis of the fire risk: the prescriptive approach and the simplified performance-based approach. The performance-based method (more suitable for the actual planning demand with respect to the more cautious prescriptive approach) is affected by the parameters influencing its development. The goal of this article is to provide a graph (based on parameters like the type of building, opening factor “O” and fire load “q”) that might be used by designers and architects to carry out the planning phase and adopt fire prevention systems before dealing with the assessments required by the engineering field for the fire risk analysis.

There are lots of various goods in large-scale wholesale market, and all these goods were stacked together. Huge fire loads were formed and there is a great fire risk in this kind of architecture. Through investigation in a large-scale wholesale commercial building in Xi'an, some data such as fire load, fuel types, room size were collected .All these data were analyzed and the types of fuel composition in different kinds of shop were comprehended. The research will contribute to management of fire prevention in wholesale market.

Oil is a kind of important chemical raw materials, countries have put oil as an important sources of energy and actively expanded its strategic oil reserve along with our country energy strategy adjustment. The number of oil storage increases constantly, the tank farm scale expands unceasingly and fire accident of oil storage tank rises constantly. So it is an important measure for preventing the oil tank fire to analyze reason of oil tank fire and adopt corresponding fire prevention countermeasures.

The fire risks of spreading trends and spreading processes of Underground Commercial Street were digitalized in this work combining with the analog of the ‘infection propagation’ model, and a dynamic fire risk model was established with the consideration of fire risk flow. This investigation will provide effective data support for the initial planning, designing and fire prevention in various stages of Underground Commercial Street.

This study has developed a model that predicts casualties (dead and injured people) using the Classification And Regression Tree (CART). Based on the fire statistics collected over a decade, this model aims to select the appropriate risk-assessment scenarios and fire prevention and safety methods applicable on individual buildings. Our evaluation indicates that this CART model can accurately predict 48 scenarios based on 5 variables related to the types of fire, fire growth rates, and evacuation situations, and calculate the corresponding probabilities for each occurrence. This model is expected to improve future quantitative fire risk assessments.

The hospital will have a high fire risk in case of fire because in accommodating a lot of patients. Extinguish the fire at the first event of a fire can use the fire extinguisher. The aim of this study was to evaluate the fire extinguisher installation planning. This research was an observational research with a descriptive analysis method. The primary data were collected with observation, interviewing and the secondary data were collected from PT Nindya Karya, Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Brawijaya Malang projects. The sample of study was selected using by purposive sampling. The variables in this study were building construction classification and fire risk, fire classification and fire extinguisher requirement. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Brawijaya Malang project’s were public buildings classification with a low risk fire accident. This building’s risk fire classification were A, B and C. Each floor required 9 pieces of fire extinguisher with CO2 and dry powder types. This research was concluded that the fire extinguisher needs was accordance with Permenakertrans No. 4, 1980. It’s suggested to use the terms and conditions of Permenakertrans No.4, 1980 about the installation and maintenance requirements in planning the installation fire extinguisher. Keywords: Portable Fire Extinguisher identification, hospital buildin
