The construction industry consumes a substantial amount of raw materials in its processes and the output is obviously the product and most importantly the waste material. Other than that, the construction industry is well known as one of the worst environmental polluters. This study is to determine the use of waste minimisation technique in creating sustainable waste management in order to identify the technique which has the most capabilities to reduce on-site waste. The objective of this study is to assess the waste minimization techniques taken from the 4R concept (which includes reduce, reuse, recycle and recovery techniques) in minimizing the waste in construction waste management. The most used waste minimization technique found in the 4R concept would be waste reduction. This shows that the local construction industry has the knowledge necessary to plan out the waste management processes but the implementation is still far from satisfying. Additionally, the findings reveal that because the industry is profit-driven, construction practitioners are motivated by profit to adapt to this techniques.

As the construction industry grows, it produces large volumes of construction waste, which has a tremendous environmental impact and generates public concern in the neighbouring towns. The construction industry generates a significant volume of waste and faces a challenge with poor construction waste minimisation in order to prevent adverse environmental and dumping impacts worldwide. In developing countries, regional waste management systems have increased problems. Environmental pollution (air, water, and soil) and human health issues are caused by waste produced in a country as a result of different cultural, social, and religious activities. Prior studies were reviewed to choose dimensions and items for the data gathering instrument. A pilot test was conducted to identify potential questionnaire adjustments, and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling (SEM). A total of 220 Malaysian construction professionals answered the survey, which yielded the results. Five hypotheses have direct correlations based on the findings, three of which have a significant effect. Furthermore, the findings reveal that policy-related factors mediate the relationship between improving factors and sustainable construction waste minimisation. In contrast, they did not mediate the relationship between current practices/generation and sustainable construction waste management. The established framework can help improve construction waste management and help achieve global sustainable development goals. The data reveal that adopting preventive plans to reduce construction waste is one of the most important aspects of enhancing profitability. This study could aid construction industry players in evaluating waste management components during the construction and design stages of a building project.

The article considers the features of complex optimization of construction waste management and defines its role in the formation of the concept of "sustainable construction". The authors note that in order for the construction, demolition and waste management industries to remain competitive in the global market, they must continue developing and implement innovations in the supply chain to improve efficiency, sustainability, and reduce energy, waste, and resource consumption. This requires serious research on intelligent, mobile, and integrated systems. Radically advanced robotic artificial intelligence systems for sorting and processing must be developed with an emphasis on the required reuse of materials and components. Many industries face an uncertain future in which the applicability of today's technological constraints cannot be assumed. The construction industry is likely to be significantly impacted by the capabilities of transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, nanotechnology, virtual reality, and robotics. The application of such technologies presents significant opportunities for this industry.

There is a lack of awareness and knowledge among the Malaysian construction industry about waste management reduction. Numerous nations worldwide have understood and have incorporated the concept of the 3R (reduce, reuse, and recycle) in waste management, and it has worked out well. This study investigated construction waste issues and developed a model for sustainable reduction by applying 3R using a partial least squares structural equation modeling PLS-SEM in Malaysia. The research methodology adopted the quantitative and qualitative approaches by sending a survey questionnaire to the relevant stakeholders to obtain their views or perceptions and interviewing an expert in the related field about waste reduction in the Malaysian construction industry. Three hundred thirty questionnaires were collected within six months of submission. The significant factors are determined using mean ranking for the reduce, reuse and recycle elements. Based on the results, the exploratory power of the study model is considered sustainable with R2 values of 0.83%. At the same time, the results of relationships between improving factors, policy-related factors, construction waste generated, and sustainable construction waste reduction were significant. Also, the findings revealed that the top factors for waste generation on reducing, reusing, and recycling are lack of design and documentation, and lack of guidance for effective construction waste-collecting. The paper will explore different and dynamic practices, such as recycling, reuse of construction waste management cost reduction, enabling stakeholders and managers to estimate and quantify the actual size of CWM costs and benefits for sustainable development goals.

A circular economy requires closed circuits of consumed resources. Construction generates approximately 50% of solid waste globally, which is difficult to manage. The aim of this article was to identify the factors that determine the development of circular construction in the context of waste minimisation in the life cycle of building structures. The identification of cause-and-effect relationships by means of the DEMATEL method allows the problems of construction waste management to be taken into account in the context of the development of sustainable construction and fulfilling the principles of the circular economy.

The rules and regulations on waste management in the construction and demolition sector are analyzed corresponding to the present scenario of C&DW in India. C&D waste from construction sites has emerged as a significant threat to India because of its severe footprint on the environment. Vast quantities of construction waste will have unfavorable consequences on the surroundings if they are not properly managed. Therefore it is necessary to manage the development of C&DW by the experts within the construction industry. The approach represented is specialized in rules and regulations on waste management so that the environmental impact of construction activities can be minimized.

The problems arising from construction and demolition waste have always been in our country. The civil construction industry is the sector that generates the most waste that impacts society and is the one that consumes the most raw materials. As a result, it is necessary and extremely important that there is a sustainable management of construction waste. The irregular dispositions of these residues cause many negative impacts to the environment, since they are often thrown in vacant lots, permanent preservation areas, roads and public places, harming the quality of life of the population. Recycling can generate a significant economic advantage in relation to the final destination both in regular deposits and mainly in relation to the irregular ones that cause so much damage to the environment. This study sought to collect information on the current situation on construction waste. And in order to be developed, the present work used bibliographic research in books, specialized magazines, periodicals, and electronic media. Concluding in the final considerations, in which vital points of the research are presented followed by the stimulations the continuity of the studies and the reflections on the generation of solid residues in the civil construction.

This nowadays an increasing number of construction projects in Malaysia have contributed to the production of construction waste which has had a negative impact on the environment, especially through illegal dumping. The increasing number of illegal dumping activities is a sign that construction waste management needs to be examined. To date, a comprehensive criterion for construction waste management, in developing countries is still not clearly defined. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to investigate current illegal dumping activities, and identify the challenges towards reducing illegal dumping activities in the Malaysian construction industry. Hence, this research conducted interviews with 20 expert stakeholders related to construction waste management in order to scrutinise illegal dumping activities in Malaysia. The data from these semi-structured interviews were analysed by content analysis. The findings are used to determine the current challenges for reducing illegal dumping activities in the Malaysian construction industry. The elements in the current findings are potentially to improve construction waste management in order to archive the proper construction waste management. Finally, this findings will help to identify strategies to reduce illegal dumping activities and to enhance challenges towards reducing illegal dumping activities in the Malaysian construction industry.
