In order to improve measurement accuracy and for choosing the best ratio of hole depth to bore (h/d), a model based on 16Mn was setup for studying the influence of different hole depth h and bore d to the coefficients with finite element method (FEM). The stress and strain on hole edge was simulated and the influence of h/d to the strain relief coefficient A, B were studied. By applying different loads, the relation of A, B vs. stress σ was studied under the conditions of σ=1/3σs. The results showed that more accurate coefficients were achieved when h/d was set to 1.25.

Abstract An analysis by the finite element method and a related computer program is presented for an axisymmetric solid under asymmetric loads. Calculations are carried out on displacements and internal stresses and strains of a radial tire loaded on a road wheel of 600-mm diameter, a road wheel of 1707-mm diameter, and a flat plate. Agreement between calculated and experimental displacements and cord forces is quite satisfactory. The principal shear strain concentrates at the belt edge, and the strain energy increases with decreasing drum diameter. Tire temperature measurements show that the strain energy in the tire is closely related to the internal temperature rise.

Abstract Energy flow analysis methods, particularly as implemented using the finite element method, are useful as design techniques for high frequency structural-acoustic applications. In this paper, the derivation of energy flow analysis techniques are summarized. Particular attention is given to the specification of joint models for situations where there is a discontinuity in either geometric properties or material properties. The finite element formulation of this approach is also summarized. A case study is included to illustrate the utility of the method as a design technique.

Abstract A comparative analysis of the structural form and gear type of the gear-driven fan engine reducer is made. Comparative analysis of different transmission structure forms and different gear types, the results show that the star-shaped structure with herringbone gear is more suitable for aero-engine fan reducer, especially in the case of high output speed and high gear bearing capacity. According to the design conditions, the basic parameters of the gear system of the transmission system were preliminarily designed. The gear loading calculations were carried out by finite element method and ISO method respectively, and the root bending stress and tooth surface contact stress obtained by the two methods were compared and analyzed. The results show that the parameters of the fan reducer gear system designed using ISO standards are more conservative. The gear stress obtained by the finite element method simulation is close to the nominal stress calculated in the ISO standard, which verifies the rationality of the finite element model. On this basis, the gear shaping parameters are designed according to the stress and strain conditions of the finite element loading contact analysis, and the appropriate shaping parameters are obtained. Based on the stress and strain results of the finite element loading contact analysis, we designed the gear modification parameters and obtained the appropriate modification parameters.
