The nano-sized Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3 powder was prepared by citrate sol-gel method. The crystal structure and the particle size of the powder were characterized by XRD. The morphology of calcined powder and the sintered ceramics was observed by TEM and SEM, respectively. The particle size of the powders calcined at 600oC is about 10 nm. The dense ceramics can be obtained at sintering temperature of 1220 oC, which is much lower than that of the powder prepared by the conventional solid method. The effects of Al2O3 additive on the sintering behavior, microstructure and dielectric properties of Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3 ceramics were also investigated.

TiO2 films were prepared by sol-gel method with butyl titanate, anhydrous ethanol, acetyl acetone and hydrochloric acid as raw materials, which were sintered at 380 °C and 530 °C respectively to obtain TiO2 films. XRD was used for analyzing the crystal structure of TiO2 film, and ImageJ software was used to detect the light transmittance of TiO2 film samples. The results show that the film sintered at 530 °C is brookite structure and the film sintered at 380 °C is anatase structure. The increase of sintering temperature is not conducive to the growth of TiO2 film grains. TiO2 films sintered at 380 °C have good light transmittance.

The different concentration La2O3-doped BaTiO3 ceramics were prepared by sol-gel method. The ferroelectric and dielectric properties of the ceramics are characterized by TF analyzer 2000. With the increased amount of La2O3-doped, the dielectric constant increase gradually, when the sintering temperature is 1250 °C, the dielectric constant has reached 4648 for La2O3 with 0.4%-doped. With the temperature increased the dielectric constant of La-BaTiO3 increase gradually, when the sintering temperature is 1290 °C, the dielectric constant has reached 7066 for La2O3 with 0.4%-doped.

The 0.95MgTiO3-0.05CaTiO3 (95MCT) powders and ceramics were prepared by a sol-gel method by using Mg(NO3)2•6H2O, Ca(NO3)2•4H2O and Ti(C4H9O)4 as the starting materials. The effects of calcination temperature on phase formation, morphology and particle size distribution of the proposed powders were examined, and the microwave dielectric properties of 95MCT ceramics made from different size particles were investigated. The dried gels were calcined at 600 °C, 700 °C, 800 °C and 900 °C, and the derived particle sizes of powders were 10-20 nm, 50-100 nm, 60-120 nm and 120-150 nm, respectively. The proper sizes, which range from 50-150 nm, lowered the sintering temperature of 95MCT ceramics effectively from 1400 °C to 1175 °C due to the high surface energy. Sintered at 1175 °C, the 95MCT ceramic prepared from 50-100 nm size particles had compact structure and exhibited good microwave dielectric properties: εr = 21.33 and Q×f = 36,315 GHz.

PZT ceramic is synthesis by using sol gel method.Introducing a dopant to the pure PZT can help to enhance the properties of the piezoelectric ceramic. The effects of sintering temperature on phase formation, densification of the ceramics have been investigated using XRD, SEM and Archimedes method. The bulk density and porosity of PZT decreased as the sintering temperature increased.

BaTiO3 powders doped with Ag at different Ag/Ba molar ratios were prepared by sol-gel method. The resistivity reached the lowest point of 5.644 Ω·m when Ag concentration was 0.10 at% and the powders were calcined for two times at 800°C and 500°C. XRD and FTIR investigations showed that no new substance was formed after the doping and calcining process, but the particle size and the strength of Ti-O bond in modified BaTiO3 crystal cell all changed. The conductivity of Ag-doped BaTiO3 powders with different Ag concentrations and through different preparing methods was discussed by using defect theory.

In this work, we have studied the influence of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) associated with the vanadium oxide (V2O5) on sintering and dielectrics properties of Ca0.5Sr0.5TiO3 ceramic materials obtained from nanopowder synthesized by sol-gel method. The nanopowder was obtained by controlled mixing of titanium butoxide dissolved in butanol-2 and acetic acid with a saturated aqueous solution of calcium acetate and strontium carbonate and subsequent drying of the formed gel at 80 ?C and calcination at 1100?C. The synthesized nanopowder was mixed with different amount of additives, and then uniaxally pressed and sintered in air atmosphere at temperature determined by dilatomertic measurements. The pure Ca0.5Sr0.5TiO3 sample obtained by this process required a sintering temperature around 1500?C. The addition of Li2CO3 combined with V2O5 improved sinterability and caused a shift of dilatimeric shrinkage curve to much lower temperatures. Thus, dense ceramics (98% of theoretical density) were obtained at sintering temperature ? 1300?C. The effect of adding Li2CO3-V2O5 on the structure of ceramics and the dielectric properties is discussed and show that type I dielectric properties (linear variation of the permittivity) are conserved, but with an increase of dielectric loss.

In this work hydroxyapatite coating through Sol-Gel method on stainless steel 316 L was investigated. Biocompatible additives such as P2O5, Na2CO3, KH2PO4 and HA commercial powder were used for preparation of hydroxyapatite Sol-Gel. Corrosion behavior of the ground and passivated stainless steel was evaluated. Characterization of the coated samples was performed by using SEM and XRD. The results showed that by increasing the sintering temperature, a denser structure of hydroxyapatite was obtained, and volume fraction and size of porosities decreased. Thick hydroxyapatite coatings with a thickness range of 50-70 µm free from cracks were obtained.
