Due to the uncertainty of variables in durability model, the probabilistic approach is increasing. Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) is an easily accessible method, but requires a lot of repeated operations. This paper evaluated the effectiveness of First Order Second Moment method (FOSM), which is more convenient and time saving method than MCS, to predict the corrosion initiation in harbor concrete structure. Mean Value First Order Second Moment method (MV FOSM) and Advanced First Order Second Moment method (AFOSM) are applied to the error function solution of Fick's second law modeling chloride diffusion. Reliability index and failure probability based on MV FOSM and AFOSM are compared with the results by MCS. The comparison showed that AFOSM and MCS predict similar reliability indexes and MV FOSM underestimates the probability of corrosion initiation by chloride attack. Also, the sensitivity of variables in durability model to failure probability was evaluated on the basis of AFOSM. The results showed that AFOSM is a simple and efficient method to estimate the possibility of corrosion initiation in harbor concrete structures.

The landslide disaster tends to cause safe hidden trouble to the normal operation of the pipeline and pipeline is likely to take place accident and get failed under the action of a landslide. According to the theory of winkler, in the condition of pipeline landslide, the mechanical model is established and calculated the stress distribution under different landslide scale. According to the calculation result, the dangerous section of pipe is obtained. Based on the pipeline's own strength and pipeline working stress in the landslide, the limit state equation of the pipes is set up by using the third strength theory. Finally according to the distribution of stress and strength, the pipeline reliability index and failure probability are obtained by means of the first order second moment method improved. The achievement of this paper has great value .to the buried gas pipeline risk assessment. Key words: landslides; The third strength theory; The first order second moment method; Reliability index; Failure probability

This paper analyzed the board of reliability on the elastic half space model. Considered the random of the larger variability parameters, such as foundation, board, load, the paper studied the reliability of this issue application of first order second moment method. This paper analyzed the influence of the random parameter variability on the reliability index β and failure probability, obtained some useful conclusions and had some engineering referencing.
