The aim of this article is to demonstrate the possibility of using burnishing rolling process as the technology of product development. The experimental researches were carried out, showing the ability to form the surface layer of the product with the desired properties. First, during different previous treatment the surfaces of the samples were prepared. Then these surfaces were burnished with constant burnishing parameters. The influence of different previous treatment on the state of the surface layer parameters are shown. Among the examined aspects is considered: surface roughness, nanoroughness, material bearing, surface microstructure, metallographic.

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effects of surface roughness in normalized steel and the effects of abnormal surface layer in carburized steel on the fatigue strength that is considered as the limit of no crack initiation. Normalized and Carburized test pieces with crowned round notches were used in the fatigue tests, the normalized test pieces have different surface roughnesses and the carburized test pieces have different surface microstructures on the notch surface. The changes in fatigue strength due to the differences in the notch surface roughness and surface microstructure were investigated. As the conclusions, fatigue strength will be certainly increased by decreasing the surface maximum height, and removing the abnormal surface layer formed during carburized treatment leads to a marked increase in fatigue strength.

The influence of the burnishing force, tool radius, processing speed and feed on the distribution of circumferential and axial residual strses, microhardness and the depth of strain hardening in the surface layer when pr ssing of "30ХГСН2А-ВД" steel with synthetic diamond "ACB-1" is considered. Empirical dependencies determining these parameters are given. Keywords diamond burnishing, strain hardening depth, circumferential residual stresses, axial residual stresses, microhardness. AbstractSurface modification of the carbon included polyethylene (semi-conductive PE) surface for metallizing using a low pressure RF discharge plasma has been carried out. The contact angle was used as a measure of the wettability of the PE surface. The roughness and the chemical bondings in PE surface layer were analized by DFM and XPS, respectively. Typical results show that the contact angle decreases from approximately 94° to below 10° after several minutes' treatment and recovers to a saturation value when it was put open to the air after treatment. The saturation value of the contact angle is smaller as the gas pressure for treatment is higher and the treatment time is longer but all are below approximately 60° which is still smaller than that of untreated. DFM and XPS results show that the surface roughness and the bondings C-O and C=O in the PE surface layer also increase with increasing the treatment time and seem to be responsible for improving the hydrophilic property of PE. After pretreatment process, nickel was coated on the PE sheet by electrodeposition method and a good adhesion between the nickel layer and the PE surface compared with that of untreated was obtained.

Surface roughness was studied in the tube hydroforming process, considering the quality of the material and the coefficient of friction between the work piece and die. Other researchers have studied the surface roughness to the front of an aluminum pipe [. The aim of this work was to analyze changes in a copper pipe roughness occurred after hydroforming process with fluid. Effects of changing roughness were studied, following the deformation of the material in the work area and roughness changes occurring in the material flow. After achieving hydroforming process, the surface roughness was measured by electron microscopy SEM in different areas of the hydro formed tube. After hydroforming process, an increase of surface roughness in connection areas of the mold to the curvature and the transverse direction of the pipe.

The method of calculating the strength of the joint with tension taking into account the technological conditions for processing the mating surfaces, which determine the quality indicators of the surface layer of the material of these surfaces: the surface roughness and the degree of their hardening, was described.
