The isothermal compression tests of semi-solid ZCuSn10P1 alloy by strain induced melt activation (SIMA) process are carried out by Gleeble-1500 thermo-mechanical simulator, and the same tests are finished to samples of as-cast ZCuSn10P1 alloy. The deformation temperature respectively is 910°C, 920°C and 930°C, and the strain respectively is 0.4 and 0.6, the strain rate is 0.5s-1, 1s-1 and 10s-1. The experimental results indicate that the deformation resistance of semi-solid ZCuSn10P1 copper alloy with smaller, more uniform and rounder solid grain is about half of the as-cast ZCuSn10P1 copper alloy. The deformation resistance of ZCuSn10P1 alloy by SIMA process decreases with the deformation temperature increasing, and the deformation resistance increases with the strain rate increasing.

Semi-solid billet of 9Cr18 martensitic stainless steel with globular grains was made by a wavelike sloping plate experimental device, and hot compression tests were carried out in the semi-solid state of 9Cr18 semi-solid billet on Gleeble-1500 thermal simulation testing machine at the temperatures of 1250°C ~1300°C and the strain rates of 0.1 s-1~5.0 s-1to investigate the effects of thixoforming parameters on its deformation characteristics and mechanism. According to the true stress-strain curves obtained from the test, the influence of deformation temperature and strain rate on 9Cr18 semi-solid billet deformation resistance was investigated, and the deformation resistance model of specimen with coexistence of solid and liquid phases was established. In this paper, it was found that deformation mechanism changed because of different deformation temperature and strain rate. Dynamic recrystallization occured at 1250°C in different phases separately. So that big fine recrystallized grains were achieved at the soft primary austenite region while small recrystallized grains were achieved at the hard solidified liquid region. The melted metal would be extruded from the centre of the specimen to the free surface completely when the temperature was higher than 1275°C. And then specimen became FGM (functionally graded materials), with phases and properties graded distribution perpendicular to the stress direction. When thixoforming temperature reached 1300 °C, martensitic transformation occurred after rapid cooling. The mathematics models of the relation between stress and temperatures, fraction of solid, deformation rates and deformation degree of 9Cr18 semi-solid billet were regressed and established based on the dates attained from the compression deformation experiments. The R value was 0.991, and the RMSE value was 3.57.

The deformation behavior of 2519 aluminum alloy was studied by isothermal compression by Gleeble-1500 simulator in the temperature range from 300 to 450°C under the strain rates of 0.01~10s-1. The results showed that the flow stress was controlled by strain rate and deformation temperature. The flow stress increased with strain rate and decreased with deformation temperature. The flow stress of 2519 aluminum alloy increased with strain and to the constant values at three strain rates of 0.01 s-1,0.1 s-1and1 s-1, indicating the dynamic recovery to occur. The flow stress decreased after a peak value with increase of strain at strain rate 10s-1 and deformation temperature higher than 350°C, showing partly dynamic recrystallization. The flow stress of 2519 aluminum alloy during high temperature deformation can be represented by Zener-Hollomon parameter.

The hot working flow stress of as-cast and two different extruded magnesium alloys AZ31was examined by uniaxial compression tests. It was found that the hot deformation behavior was affected by the deformation conditions and initial microstructure. The peak flow stress was sensitive to deformation temperature and strain rate, and the value was decreased with decreasing the deformation rate or increasing the deformation temperature. The extruded samples, instead of as-cast samples, have better ductility at high strain rate and high temperature. The temperature increment for Mg alloy with different extrusion ratios was also investigated. These key features of the deformation behavior were explained in terms of twinning, dynamic recrystallization and grain rotation.

The hot deformation behavior of Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy have been investigated by means of isothermal compression tests on a Gleeble-1500D thermal mechanical simulator in the temperature ranges of 873-1073 K and strain rate ranges of 0.01-5s-1. The results show that the dynamic recryatallization occurs in Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy during hot deformation. The peak stress during hot deformation can be described by the hyperbolic sine function. The influence of deformation temperature and strain rate on the peak stress can be represented using the Zener-Hollomon parameter. Moreover, the activation energy for hot deformation of Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy is determined to be 485.6 kJ / mol within the investigated ranges of deformation temperature and strain rate. The constitutive equation of the Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy is also established. Keywords: Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy; Hot deformation; Dynamic recrystallization; Zener-Hollomon parameter.

The flow stress of a high-Mn austenitic Fe-20Mn-3Si-3Al TRIP steel was investigated by isothermal compression tests on Gleeble 3500D thermo-mechanical simulator in the temperature ranges from 900°C to 1100°C and the strain rate ranges from 0.01s-1 to 10s-1. The results show that the flow stress is sensitively dependent on deformation temperature and strain rate, and the flow stress increases with strain rate and decreases with deformation temperature. The flow stress during isothermal compression can be described by the Zener-Hollomon (Z) parameter in the hyperbolic sine equation with the hot deformation activation energy Q of 385.2kJ/mol.

Flow behavior and microstructures of GH625 superalloy were investigated by hot compression tests. Then the GH625 superalloy tube was hot extruded according to the hot deformation behavior, and the microstructures of different position of extruded tube was also analyzed. The results show that the actual deformation temperature of the specimen deformed at a strain rate of 10.0s-1 is higher than the preset temperature, resulting in a deformation thermal effect. Thus, the microstructure evolution of GH625 superalloy is controlled both by the strain rate and deformation temperature. It is also found that the GH625 superalloy tube can be successfully fabricated with a stable extrusion speed of 40 mm·s-1, extrusion ratio of 4.1 and preheating temperature of 1200°C. The microstructure of extruded tube was obviously fined due to the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization(DRX). Different degrees of DRX were observed in outer wall, center and inner wall of the tube, which is similar to that in the head, middle and tail of the tube. An extruded tube containing fully DRX grains can be obtained by cutting the head and tail of the tube, and machining a small amount of the inner wall.

The deformation behavior in isothermal compression of Ti-5Al-4Mo-2Cr-4Zr-2Sn-1Fe alloy was investigated at the deformation temperature of 800°C, 850°C, 900°C, 950°C and 1000°C, the strain rate of 0.01s-1, 0.1s-1, 1.0s-1and 10.0s-1, and the height reduction of 70%. The flow stress increases rapidly with the increasing of strain at the beginning of deformation. When the strain exceeds a certain value, the flow stress begins to decline and becomes steady. With the increasing of deformation temperature and decreasing of strain rate, the steady stress and peak stress decrease significantly. The effect of strain on the processing maps of Ti-5Al-4Mo-2Cr-4Zr-2Sn-1Fe alloy is obvious. As the strain increases, the instable region moves towards high temperature and high strain rate area. Meanwhile, the contour of efficiency of power dissipation becomes more and more intensive, and the region with high efficiency of power dissipation reduces. Strain rate of 0.01s-1and deformation temperature of 900°C are the optimum processing parameters for Ti-5Al-4Mo-2Cr-4Zr-2Sn-1Fe alloy forging under strain of 0.3.

The hot deformation behavior and microstructure of a powder metallurgy (P/M) Ni-base superalloy with different original microstructure were studied by isothermal compression tests. The isothermal compression tests were conducted on Gleeble-3500D simulator with the temperature range of 1000°C~1100°C and the strain rate of 0.001s-1~0.1s-1. The results showed that the flow stress of the specimens with fine grains (10μm) and ultrafine grains (3μm) gained by hot extruding (HEX) were much less than the that with the average grain diameter of 30μm by hot isostatic pressing (HIP). At the strain rate of 0.001s-1,the as-HIPed specimens with the average grain diameter of 30μm showed steady-state deformation at 1100°C only, whereas the as-HEXed specimens with the average grain diameter of 10μm and 3μm showed steady-state deformation both at 1050°C and 1100°C. The flow stress showed decreasing trend as the average grain diameter decreasing. The activation energy of hot deformation decreased form 622.79 kJ·mol-1 to 302.36 kJ·mol-1 as the average grain diameter decreased from 30μm to 3μm. When the as-HEXed specimen with the average grain diameter of 3μm was deformed at the condition of (1050°C, 0.001s-1), the flow stress was lower than that at the condition of (1100°C,0.001s-1), and the former also gained much finer and uniform grain, the later gained mixed grains.
