Plantar fasciitis is fairly common in orthopaedics out-patient department. Although, majority of the patients do well with conservative treatment, some patients continue to have painful feet despite a course of conservative management. These patients of plantar fasciitis are provided with other treatment modalities such as local corticosteroid but the chronic condition requires multiple dosages and are associated with adverse reaction. Autologous platelet rich plasma therapy is another modality for treatment of such cases and are not associated with adverse effects when compared with corticosteroid injection therapy. This prospective case series analyses the improvement of pain using visual analogue scale of plantar fasciitis patients treated with autologous platelet rich plasma over the course of 3 months. 30 patients were enrolled in the study. The mean VAS score at pre injection was 7.13 which signicantly reduced to 3.3 at 6 weeks post injection and 2.36 at 6 weeks post injection. There was signicant improvement in pain. This study is limited with small sample size and short follow up.

The management of necrotic immature permanent teeth has always been a challenge to endodontists. Various treatment modalities have been tried and tested for achieving a successful outcome. Revascularisation is one among these treatment options, which is gaining widespread attention among endodontists. The growing body of evidence demonstrating the success of revascularisation has led to different variations of this treatment option. Clinicians have over time used different scaffolds such as blood clot, collagen, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and platelet-rich plasma for revascularisation. This case report outlines the management of immature maxillary central incisors with pulp necrosis and large periapical lesions in a 19-year-old female patient with a modified technique of revascularisation by combining PRF and blood clot. At the end of 12 months, the patient was completely asymptomatic along with regression of the periapical lesions.

Abstract Vitiligo is a disease that causes the loss of skin color in patches due to loss of melanin pigmentation of specific areas of the skin. Although several hypotheses have been proposed, the leading theory is still the auto-immune etiology linked to specific genetic mutations. Vitiligo can also be associated with several autoimmune diseases. There is no curative treatment for vitiligo but, several treatment modalities are considered. Topical therapies like steroids and Calcineurin inhibitors are of popular use in clinical settings also, steroids can be administered systemically in vitiligo patients. Physical therapies as fractionated CO2 (Fr: CO2) laser and Narrowband-UV (NBUV) phototherapy represent a gold standard in treatment in clinical practice. Moreover, intralesional therapies are emerging, one of which is autologous platelet-rich plasma injection. Aim of the study This study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy and safety of Fr: CO2 laser, PRP, combined Fr: CO2 laser and PRP, combined Fr: CO2 laser and NB-UVB, combined Fr: CO2 laser, PRP and NB-UVB in the treatment of vitiligo as well as reporting the side effects. Patients and methods This study included 20 vitiligo patients with at least 6 patches of stable vitiligo (120 patches), the patches were divided into six groups according to the treatment modality. Assessment of treatment response was done through patient satisfaction score and Vitiligo analysis by computer-assisted grid (VACAG). Results Regarding surface area reduction in included patients, fractional CO2 laser achieved the best results followed by triple combination therapy (CO2 with PRP and NB-UVB), the least response was with CO2 with PRP treatment. Patient satisfaction in the current study had a different outcome, PRP treated patients exhibited the highest satisfaction scores while triple combination treated group showed the least satisfaction scores.

Background: Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a common cause of hair loss in women characterized by a diffuse reduction in hair density over the crown and frontal scalp with retention of the frontal hairline. The underlying pathophysiology is multifactorial. There are no universally agreed treatment guidelines available. The objective of the study was to understand the diagnosis and treatment pattern of female pattern hair loss and the role of minoxidil topical formulation and its combination in the management of FPHL.

Methods: Predesigned questionnaire on FPHL was prepared based on review of literature and was filled by 80 consultant dermatologists. Recorded data was statistically analyzed.

Results: Common age of onset of FPHL was between 20 to 30 years. Majority (96.25%) have reported FPHL in association with psychological morbidity. The most preferred treatment in mild and severe FPHL was minoxidil 5% and platelet rich plasma (PRP) plus minoxidil respectively. Most dermatologists (47.5%) treated with minoxidil for over 6 months. Majority (27.5%) reported flaking as the most common side effect with minoxidil followed by dryness, scalp irritation and itching. Majority (27.5%) observed that long treatment duration was contributing to non-compliance followed by medication cost and side effects. Majority of the dermatologists (90%) felt the need for treatment guidelines in the current Indian scenario.

Conclusions: Minoxidil was the most common preferred treatment for mild and severe FPHL. PRP is the most common choice of combination therapy with minoxidil. Minimizing side effects, patient education and universal treatment guidelines can help manage FPHL better.
