Biau is a traditional Iban poem of invocational categories related to the ritual of performing rituals to summon Petara (the gods). The metaphorical language is used by Lemambang (ritual practitioner) to convey the message to Petara to be more attractive and polite. This study aims to analyze the elements that make up the metaphor in the biosphere structure. Based on the qualitative approach, the descriptive method was used to study the three biases taken from the book Sampi Enggau Biau. Content analysis is used to analyze the elements that make up the metaphor in a biased structure. The findings show that the elements that form the metaphor in the biosphere structure are based on living things, non-living things and nature that are adapted to the life of the Iban people. These elements are used to express traditional heritage, presence of entity or spirit, presentation of ritual (piring), types of chickens, strength of chickens, guest character present in plate presentation and natural beauty. life and nature in metaphorical metaphors add practitioner knowledge of the language skills of traditional poetry.

What do we talk about when we talk about Homer? It is difficult to conceive him as a man, a historical individuum, and the ancient Greeks knew about him as little as we do. Even if we question his poems, we cannot grasp any trait of an author's personality. But his language and his style tell us enough to understand that what we were searching in a single poet must be found in a tradition. The Iliad and the Odyssey must be understood as documents of oral-traditional poetry and not of literature: at least in the sense that they were not meant to be read. Although they have been considered for centuries the archetypes of all western literatures, their place is among the crowded company of the anonymous singers who gave us masterpieces like Beowulf, Mahabharata, Chanson de Roland.

Several approaches to the interpretation of emotion in poetic text are considered in the article — linguistic, traditional literary and emotive (from the point of modern interdisciplinary interpretation of the phenomenon of emotionality). The relevance of the study determines the belief that, without taking into account of achievements of linguistic emotion and traditional linguistics, the analysis of the stylistic individuality of the writer will be incomplete. Novelty of the study is the introduction concepts of poetic emotion and emotivity into the conceptual apparatus of the style of the text. The subject of study — the emotivity of a poetic text — is defined as a formal-stylistic index / factor of author’s individuality, expressed through the images of a work. The relation of emotional and rational in methods of author’s self-expression, coordination of pathos and emotions is considered. The methodology of the research is determined by an interdisciplinary approach, it is determined during the analysis that among the linguistic approaches the most effective for literary analysis is the method of in-depth study of the category of emotivity in the text, worked out by O. Filimonova. As a result of research an emotivity of the form and content components are interpreted as the interconnected stylistic means in recognition of the lyrical work. It is proved that the expressiveness and aesthetic origin of poetry as a kind of artistic creation predetermines the emotivity of all its components. The basis of the theory of the emotivity of a poetic work, which incorporates the concepts of traditional poetry and prosody, is the principle of revealing poetic emotion in the text in three planes: content, expression and image. Stylistic differentiation of emotive means is conditioned by the formal expression of them at all levels of language use — phonological, morphological, lexical-semantic, phraseological, syntactic levels of structural models of works. According to the results of studying various aspects of the author’s emotionality in the poetic text, it is planned to develop a literary theory of poetic emotion and its description in the historical perspective.

Japanese is often referred to as a mora-timed language (Ladefoged 1975): the mora has been described as the psychological prosodic unit in the spoken language, and it is the metric unit of traditional poetry (Bloch 1950). However, it is clear that morae are not strictly isochronous units (Beckman 1982). Thus, experimental studies have focused on detecting compensation effects that make average mora durations more equal through the modulation of the inherent duration of the segments involved (Han 1962; Port, Al-Ani, Maeda 1980; Homma 1981; Hoequist 1983a; 1983b; Warner, Arai 2001). Kawahara (2017) used the Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese to verify whether the durational compensation effect within a /CV/ mora occurs in natural speech, in addition to read speech in the lab. He observed a statistically significant compensation effect of /CV/ morae, in which vowel duration tends to vary in response to the duration of the preceding consonant. However, as the same author has pointed out, the compensation is not absolute because there are several linguistic factors that potentially affect segments’ duration profiles. This study will support the idea that moraic isochrony does not occur in spontaneous Japanese by presenting empirical data on how linguistic factors can considerably affect variation in the average duration of morae.
