Research on the Anguilla bicolor bicolor McClelland, 1844 eels has been widely proposed, but study related to air oxygen uptake through gills and skin for A. bicolor bicolor has not been found. This information is very important in the development of future cultivation technology. This study aims to analyze the oxygen uptake of A. bicolor bicolor through gills and skin, blood biochemistry, blood image and histology to air exposure. Eels were exposed to air for one hour (A), two hours (B) and three hours (C), and eels in the water were used as control. A total of 66 fish (77.68±1.54 g) of eels were imported from Bogor City, Indonesia. Oxygen uptake from the air through the gills and skin reduced with longer exposure time. After 3 hours of exposure time, the percentage of oxygen uptake through the gills decreased from 64.52% to 54.29% and the percentage of oxygen uptake through the skin increased from 35.48% to 45.71%. Eels use different proportions of their gills and skin together when exposed to air. Air exposure affected the blood biochemistry values, blood image and showed the highest values on air exposure for 3 hours.

AbstractThe reliability of SiOF films for intermetal dielectrics in multilevel interconnections of ULSIs is investigated. SiOF films were deposited by ECRCVD using H-free source gases, i.e., SiF4 and O2. The effect of post plasma treatment on the moisture absorption and dielectric properties of SiOF films were carried out in terms of air exposure time. The reliability test of Cu / TiN / SiOF / Si specimen was carried out in terms of temperatures by RTA in N2 ambient. After O2 plasma treatment, no appreciable peak directly related to moisture absorption was detected. The C-V characteristics of the O2 plasma treated SiOF film showed that the film remained to hold the sound dielectric properties even after boiling treatment. The Cu / TiN / SiOF / Si system was found to be reliable up to 600 °C.

The reedfish Calamoichthys calabaricus (Smith) is amphibious, making voluntary excursions on to land (in a simulated natural environment) an average of 6 +/− 4 times/day for an average duration of 2.3 +/− 1.3 min. Oxygen uptake is achieved by the gills, skin and large, paired lungs. In water at 27 degrees C, total oxygen uptake is 0.088 ml O2/g.h. The lungs account for 40%, the gills 28%, and the skin 32% of total VO2. Total oxygen uptake during 2 h of air exposure increases from 0.117 ml O2/g.h to 0.286 ml O2/g.h, due largely to an enhanced lung VO2 and a small increase in skin VO2. Calamoichthys is both capable of aerial gas exchange and adapted to maintain O2 uptake during brief terrestrial excursions.
