This study investigated the impacts of child labour on school attendance and academic performance of secondary school students in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. five hypotheses were tested. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. A total of 300 respondent were selected from six (6) senior secondary school students within Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State using simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used was a four point modified Rensis Likert Rating Scale Questionnaire type. Data analysis were done using descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentage and mean to answer the research questions, while the hypotheses formulated were tested using Chi-square and independent t-test statistical tool at 0.05 level of significance. The study concluded that there was a significant effect of students’ exposure to child labour on the school attendance, academic performance and study habit of senior secondary school students in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State. Also, there was a significant difference in academic performance of students exposed to child labour and those that are not in senior secondary school students in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State. But there was no significant difference in school attendance of students exposed to child labour and those that are not in senior secondary school students in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The study recommended that the federal government of Nigeria should work towards the eradication of poverty by providing employments to its citizens, which is the primary cause of child labour, the Government/Community should develop positive strategies to labour reduction towards a fruitful fulfillment of children’s school attendance and academic performance, such as: introducing more subsidies such as free meal tickets and reduced school bills and that the Universal Basic Education (UBE) programs should be fully implemented and monitored to take care of these children exposed work.

The authors of this study have attempted to understand whether study habits affect academic achievement among secondary and senior secondary school students of Mysore. It is also attempted to know whether students at secondary level differ from senior secondary level on their study habits. The study was conducted on the sample of 625 students of Mysore City in India using stratified random sampling technique. Results indicated that the study habits facilitate higher academic achievement. Further, it was also found that secondary school students are significantly better than senior secondary students on study habits. The findings are analyzed and explained. Thus, study habit is found to be an important correlate of academic achievement.

The present study was conducted to ascertain the environmental awareness across gender, locale, type of schools and academic stream among senior secondary school students. The sample of the study comprised of 300 11th class students studying in different government and non- government senior secondary schools of Sambhal district (U.P.) of Moradabad region. Environment Awareness Ability Measure (EAAM) by Praveen Kumar Jha (1998) was used to collect the data for the purpose. The data were analyzed using descriptive (Mean, Standard Deviations) and inferential (‘t’- test) statistics. The findings of the present study revealed that there is significant difference in environmental awareness of senior secondary school students across gender (boys and girls), type of schools (government and non-government) and academic stream (science and arts). However no significant difference is found in case of rural and urban sample. The reason for this result may be the rampant illiteracy in the district. Stakeholders should, therefore, ensure that the curriculum relating to environmental education is transacted as a core curriculum. Other activities related to environmental education viz., curricular, co- curricular and literary activities should also be organized to infuse environmental awareness among students.

The investigator conducted a survey to measure the attitude of senior secondary school students having Science, Art and Commerce subjects towards the use of Internet in relation to their levels of intelligence from the district Sonepat, Haryana. The Stratified Random Sampling Technique was used to draw the sampling and was administered a self-standardized Likert Type Attitude Scale. Group Intelligence Test by Dr. S. Jalota was also used. The findings revealed that Science and Art students were not significantly different at both levels of significance in relation to their levels of intelligence. It was also revealed that Commerce students were significantly different at both levels of significance.

Empirical observations reveal low enrolment of senior secondary school students for physical education at external examination bodies. The poor rate of students' choice of the subject at this level is a matter of concern to professionals, given the fact of monumental benefits of physical education as a science subject to humanity. The study was conducted to examine how psycho-administrative factors influence the choice of physical education by senior secondary school students at external examination bodies (in Nigeria) to come up with modalities to increase enrolment of the subject at external examination bodies. Descriptive method was applied for the study due to large respondents involved. Self-developed validated questionnaire tagged psycho-administrative determinants for choice of physical education among senior secondary school students at external examination bodies (PADGPEAS) was applied for the research. Out of three thousand and twenty-four (3024) questionnaire forms administered, only two thousand and fifty (2950) copies completed and returned were coded for analysis, with the use of descriptive statistics of percentages and nonparametric statistics of Chi-square (x 2) at 0.05 level of significant. Results unraveled a remarkable influence of psycho-administrative variables on the choice at physical education among senior secondary school students at external examination bodies. Based on this outcome, it is suggested that utilization of variety of methods by physical education teachers will go a long way to kindle the interest of the students for the subject. Enlightenment of students and parents on the values of physical education will facilitate remarkable positive attitude of both parts that relocate their position in favor of the subject.
