The title compound, N-(2-pyridylmethyl)-L-alanine) zinc(II), [Zn(C10H11N3O2S)], a coordination polymer derived from the mixed ligands, N-(2-pyridylmethyl)-L-alanine (HL1) and ammonium thiocyanide (L2) has been synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy, 1H-NMR, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis and single crystal x-ray structure determination. The single crystal X-ray structure analysis of the title compoundreveals a molecular polymeric compound that crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system and P2(1)2(1)2(1) space group. The ligand acts as a bridge between adjacent zinc(II) centres, each of which adopts a five-coordinate geometry.  Zinc bonds to two N atoms and one O atom of HL1, one N atom of L2 and one O atom of another HL1 ligand. This is confirmed by IR spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric analysis shows a one-step decomposition of the complex to leave a zinc sulfide residue.                     KEY WORDS: Zinc(II), N-(2-pyridylmethyl)-(L)-alanine) ligand, Isothiocyanate, Coordination polymer, Single crystal structure   Bull. The reaction of AgCF3CO2 with nitrilotriacetate (NTA) yields the three-dimensional silver(i) coordination polymer {Ag3[N(CH2COO)3]}n 1 which was characterized by means of elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy as well as X-ray diffraction. The single crystal structure shows that the NTA3– anions act as unusual heptadentate 13-coordination agents and the silver(i) atoms exhibit various coordination numbers in the range 3–6.

Abstract A new cobalt-based coordination polymer (CP), [Co(Htatb)(1,4-bib)]·DMF (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized from CoCl2 ·6H2O, 4,4′,4′′-s-triazine-2,4,6-tribenzoic acid (H3tatb), and 1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene (1,4-bib). The product has been characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In compound 1, the Htatb ligand links three CoII ions resulting in a double-strand chain structure, further bridged through the 1,4-bib ligands to generate a 2D structure with channels. The fluorescence and cyclovoltammetry characteristics of compound 1 have also been investigated.

A novel metalorganic coordination polymer, namely [Co3(bpd)5.5(NCS)6(NH3)]n2H2O (1) (bpd=1,4-bis (4-pyridyl)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 presents 2D[3,4,-connected 3-nodal net with the point symbol (4268210)(4462)(8210). In addition, four identical 2D single nets is interlocked with each other in parallel, thus directly leading to the formation of a polycatenated layer (2D2D).

AbstractThe cyano-bridged heteronuclear coordination polymer of zinc(II)/nickel(II) has been prepared by N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylendiamine (hydet-en), alternatively named 2-(2-aminoethylamino)-ethanol and characterised by IR and thermal analysis. In the bimetallic complex, the decomposition of hydet-en ligands is seen to be endothermic whereas that of the cyano ligands is found to be exothermic. The crystal structure of the complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the zinc(II)-nickel(II) complex consists of a one-dimensional polymeric chain –Zn(hydet-en)

A cyanido-bridged Zn(II)-Ag(I) bimetallic coordination polymer, {[Zn(phen)2(H2O){Ag(CN)2}] [Ag(CN)2]·MeOH}n (1), was prepared using ZnCl2, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and K[Ag(CN)2] and characterized by IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis and X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure of 1 consists of dinuclear [Zn(phen)2(H2O){Ag(CN)2}]+ cations, [Ag(CN)2]- anions and a methanol molecule. The non-coordinated [Ag(CN)2]- anions are linked to the [Zn(phen)2(H2O){Ag(CN)2}]+ complex cations through argentophilic interactions leading to the formation of chains. The chains are connected by hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions to give a 3D network.

Coordination polymers with a new rigid ligand 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)adamantane (L) were prepared by its reaction with cadmium(II) or silver(I) nitrates. Crystal structure of the coordination polymers was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Silver formed two-dimensional coordination polymer [Ag(L)NO3]n, in which metal ions are linked by 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)adamantane ligands, coordinated by nitrogen atoms at positions 2 and 4 of 1,2,4-triazole rings. Layers of the coordination polymer consist of rare 18- and 30-membered {Ag2L2} and {Ag4L4} metallocycles. Cadmium(II) nitrate formed two kinds of one-dimensional coordination polymers depending on the metal-to-ligand ratio used in the synthesis. Coordination polymer [Cd(L)2(NO3)2]n was obtained in case of a 1:2 M:L ratio, while for M:L = 2:1 product {[Cd(L)(NO3)2(CH3OH)]·0.5CH3OH}n was isolated. All coordination polymers demonstrated ligand-centered emission near 450 nm upon excitation at 370 nm.

A new dissymmetrical oxamidate ligand has been used to construct a metal-organic network. Using this ligand, a novel coordination polymer, namely {[Cu(obea)]2Cu・CH3OH・H2O}n (1) [H3obea = N1-(2-carboxyphenyl)-N2-(2-hydroxyethyl)oxalamide] has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The structure of complex 1 consists of neutral trinuclear complex units. Through syn-anti carboxylate bridges, the complex features a 2D structure with a helical substructure. Its magnetic properties have been investigated.

AbstractA new zinc(II)-based coordination polymer {[Zn(5-fip)(tdbpy)]·(DMF)}n (1) {5-H2fip=5-fluoroisophthalic acid, tdbpy=4,4′-(2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane-3,9-diyl)bispyridine, DMF=dimethylformamide} has been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that complex 1 shows a unique two-dimensional network architecture containing single-stranded [Zn(5-fip)]n and double-stranded helical [Zn(tdbpy)]n chains. The thermal and luminescence properties of complex 1 have also been studied.

A new Cd(II) complex with the ligand 4′-chloro-2,2′6′,2′′-terpyridine (Cltpy), [Cd(Cltpy)(I)2], has been synthesized and characterized by CHN elemental analysis,1H-NMR,13C-NMR, and IR spectroscopy and structurally analyzed by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The single-crystal X-ray analyses show that the coordination number in complex is five with three terpyridine (Cltpy) N-donor atoms and two iodine atoms. The antibacterial activities of Cltpy and its Cd(II) complex are tested against different bacteria.
