Psoriasis is an autoimmune skin disease characterized by red scaly patches over the skin. Broadly all the diseases of skin come under the umbrella of kustha. In ayurvedic text, Charaka samhita, kustha has been beautifully explained. Psoriasis is an immune mediated disease which mistakenly sends out faulty signals for a normal skin assuming it as a pathogen which causes overproduction of new skin cells. Fortunately, it is a non-contagious inflammatory skin disease. Psychological stress is one of the major triggering factors in the exacerbation of the disease. Ekkustha has similar features as like Psoriasis. Ayurveda is a holistic ap-proach particularly correcting the root cause through shodhana (panchakarma). While explaining the treatment for kustha, acharya chakarapani explains repetitive shodhana karma to be done on regular in-tervals to cure the disease. Hence a single case of ekkustha was given Raktamokshana followed by bahya lepa at regular interval to access the effect of the procedures. Different assessment criteria were used to monitor the improvements. There was significant relief in the scaling, discolouration of skin, elevated patches & redness of the skin lesion which explains that detoxification of the body reduces the inflamma-tory condition of the body by bringing back the normalcy of the dosha in the body

Introduction: Indralupta is a type of Kapalagata Roga, it occurs when Pitta along with Vata affecting the hair follicles to become thin and fall, later on, due to vitiation of Kapha and Rakta it blocks the regrowth of hairs. It can be correlated to Alopecia. Alopecia areata is one of its types and it is also known as spot baldness. It may be regarded as immune-mediated hair loss and it is the commonest cause of patchy hair loss. Materials and methods: A 20-year-old female patient approached Shalakya Tantra OPD of SJIIM, Bengaluru complaining of patchy hair loss in the parietal region for 6 months, the subject was systemically reviewed and diagnosed as alopecia areata, were administered with Snehapana, Virechana, internal medication and lepa for 2 months. Result: The subject showed marked improvement in assessment criteria’s as we can see in the photo- graphs taken in the different stages of the treatment. Discussion: Usually Indralupta is treated with more bahya Prayogas like prachanna, here in this study we have concentrated more on the root cause of the disease and treating the underlying cause by Internal medications, thus we got a positive result for the same. Keywords: Alopecia areata, Indralupta, Virechana, Ayurveda.

The discontinuation or a break in the continuity of the covering epithelium of skin or mucous membrane is called as ulcer. The healing of the ulcer is a physiological response of the body. When a person does not maintain the proper treatment regimen, hygiene, along with indulgence of Ahita Ahara, Ahita Vihara and contaminated with various micro-organisms and developed a Dusta Vrana or non healing ulcer. Sushruta has described six types of Dusta Vrana. Bed sore can be co-related with Dusta Vrana. A single case of Dusta Vrana (bed sore) was successfully treated with local application of Yastimadhu Siddha Taila in Govt. Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Guwahati. Thus it has been observed that Yastimadhu Siddha Taila is a very effective drug in the management of Dusta Vrana.

Background: From the evidence of failed injection-based growth factor therapies, it has been proposed that a naturally triggered uninterrupted blood circulation of the growth factors would be superior. Objective: We seek to stimulate discussions and more research about the possibility of using the already available growth factors found in the prostate gland and endometrium by starting a novel educable physiology, known as biological transformations controlled by the mind. Methods: We summarized the stretch-gated ion channel mechanism of the cell membrane, and offer several practical methods that can be applied by anyone, in order to stimulate and enhance the blood circulation of the growth factors from the seminal fluid to sites throughout the body. This details the practical application of our earlier published studies about biological transformations. Results: A previously reported single-patient case study has been extended, adding more from his personal experiences continually improving this novel physiological training and extending the ideas from our earlier findings in detail. Conclusion: The biological transformation findings demonstrate the need additional research to establish the benefits of these natural therapies to repair and rejuvenate tissues affected by various chronic diseases or aging processes.

Organizational routines can constitute a temporary settlement of individual actors’ diverging interests, described as a truce that enables the routine as a collective accomplishment to proceed. In this regard, scholars have recognized the central but ambiguous role of artefacts; they may be used to coordinate the interactions in routines but may also be mobilized to serve individual interests. Following this line of thinking, this chapter assumes a process perspective to advance our understanding of how such temporal settlements are continuously formed and in particular, the role artefacts play in this process. Based on a single case study over a period of thirty-three months, it analyses the use of a newly implemented artefact that inadvertently impeded smooth routine functioning as the artefact provided content that gave actors leeway to act out their interests in enacting the routine.

The anarchic hand syndrome refers to an inability to control the movements of one’s own hand, which acts as if it has a will of its own. The symptoms may differ depending on whether the brain lesion is anterior, posterior, callosal or subcortical, but the relative classifications are not conclusive. This study investigates the role of white matter disconnections in a patient whose symptoms are inconsistent with the mapping of the lesion site. A repeated neuropsychological investigation was associated with a review of the literature on the topic to identify the frequency of various different symptoms relating to this syndrome. Furthermore, an analysis of the neuroimaging regarding structural connectivity allowed us to investigate the grey matter lesions and white matter disconnections. The results indicated that some of the patient’s symptoms were associated with structures that, although not directly damaged, were dysfunctional due to a disconnection in their networks. This suggests that the anarchic hand may be considered as a disconnection syndrome involving the integration of multiple antero-posterior, insular and interhemispheric networks. In order to comprehend this rare syndrome better, the clinical and neuroimaging data need to be integrated with the clinical reports available in the literature on this topic.

This article considers the role of generalization in comparative case studies, using as exemplars the contributions to this special issue on climate change politics. As a research practice, generalization is a logical argument for extending one’s claims beyond the data, positing a connection between events that were studied and those that were not. No methodological tradition is exempt from the requirement to demonstrate a compelling logic of generalization. The article presents a taxonomy of the logics of generalization underlying diverse research methodologies, which often go unstated and unexamined. I introduce the concept of resonance groups, which provide a causeway for cross-system generalization from single case studies. Overall the results suggest that in the comparative study of complex political systems, case study research is, ceteris paribus, on par with large-N research with respect to generalizability.

Ayurveda explains that our health is dependent not only on what we eat, but also on how we digest. The most vitamin-fortied diet or healthy food is considered unhealthy if our body isn't able to properly digest, absorb, and assimilate the food. Acc. to ayurvedic classics “Sarve Roga Api Mandagni” means all diseases in the body are caused due to mandagni (due to improper functioning of agni). In other words, the proper function of agni is important for strong vyadhikshamatva shakti (immunity) or bala Agni plays an important role in digestion of food. Mandagni leads to Ama formation which is the root cause of Roga. Utpatti. There are so many diseases originating because of Ama which are grouped under Ampradoshaja Vikara. Deepana and Pachana are considered under the heading of Shamanaushadhis. It is the rst line of treatment selected in order to overcome Ampradoshaja Vikaras. Thus, the treatment is mainly targeted towards the Agni thereby correcting the Ama. Deepana and Pachana are aimed in correcting the Agni which further helps in the proper digestion of Sneha and proper mobilization of dosha from shakha to kostha

ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the role of the nurse in the collegiate management model of a teaching hospital, in the integrality of care perspective. Method: a single case study with multiple units of analysis, with the theoretical proposition "integrality of care is a result of the care offered to the user by multiple professionals, including the nurse". Data were obtained in a functional unit of a teaching hospital through interviews with 13 nurses in a non-participant observation and document analysis. Results: from the analytical categories emerged subcategories that allowed understanding that the nurse promotes integrality of care through nursing management, team work and integration of services. Final considerations: the theoretical proposition was confirmed and it was verified that the nursing management focus on attending to health care needs and is a strategy to provide integrality of care.

Where do states’ positions on EU-integration come from? Despite a large number of studies we simply do not know which factors determine states’ positions in specific cases and why. This article analyses position making between ‘governments’ and ‘parliaments’ during the Maastricht Treaty negotiations. Furthermore, an analysis of the role of information asymmetries as intermediating factors in generating ‘influence on position’ will be carried out. The question asked is: Do governments enjoy relative autonomy vis-à-vis the Folketing that enables them to develop ‘positions’ they feel are in ‘the national interest’ or is Parliament able to control government behavior? The conclusions indicate that Parliaments control governmental positions, but also that governments, are able to exploit the negotiations to pursue certain ‘policy drifts’. The research design used is an in-dept single case study that analyses the level of inFluence on a multitude of different issues varied over the conflict level between the actors.
