MANET (mobile ad hoc network) is a collection of mobile nodes that interact without the need for a fixed physical foundation. MANETs have grown in popularity as a result of characteristics like dynamic topology, quick setup, multi-hop data transfer, and so on. MANETs are well-suited to various real-time applications, including environmental monitoring, disaster management, and covert and military operations, because of their distinguishing characteristics. MANETs may also be used in conjunction with new technologies like cloud computing, IoT, and machine learning algorithms to help realize the vision of Industry 4.0. Secure and reliable data transfer is essential for any MANET-based sensitive real-time applications that must achieve the requisite QoS. It is challenging to provide safe and efficient data transfer with MANET. As a result, this article examines different Trust-based Approaches that take a step forward in providing secure transmission while simultaneously improving MANET performance. Furthermore, the study's analysis based on many aspects exposes the inadequacies of existing techniques and provides future directions for improvement.

Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a miscellany of versatile nodes that communicate without any fixed physical framework. MANETs gained popularity due to various notable features like dynamic topology, rapid setup, multihop data transmission, and so on. These prominent features make MANETs suitable for many real-time applications like environmental monitoring, disaster management, and covert and combat operations. Moreover, MANETs can also be integrated with emerging technologies like cloud computing, IoT, and machine learning algorithms to achieve the vision of Industry 4.0. All MANET-based sensitive real-time applications require secure and reliable data transmission that must meet the required QoS. In MANET, achieving secure and energy-efficient data transmission is a challenging task. To accomplish such challenging objectives, it is necessary to design a secure routing protocol that enhances the MANET’s QoS. In this paper, we proposed a trust-based multipath routing protocol called TBSMR to enhance the MANET’s overall performance. The main strength of the proposed protocol is that it considers multiple factors like congestion control, packet loss reduction, malicious node detection, and secure data transmission to intensify the MANET’s QoS. The performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed through the simulation in NS2. Our simulation results justify that the proposed routing protocol exhibits superior performance than the existing approaches.

In modern era, MANET i.e., Mobile Ad-hoc Network is a very powerful, interactive tool and useful resource for transmission/communication in computer networks. About composition of MANET, a collection of mobile nodes have the potential of creating self-maintaining and self-configurable network without having any centralized infrastructure i.e., MANET is a self-organized network without any infrastructure. Nodes in the network require energy for transmission of data after collapse of energy a node become inactive and it can’t participate in the communication. Due to exhaustation of energy the network becomes unstable. An unstable network requires extra routing process for coin out a route. In future security of MANET is a major challenge for smooth and efficient data communication. There are many protocols in MANET but in this paper, we discussed AODV routing protocol for data communication. In this paper a new algorithm is designed i.e., modified AODV with security constraint. This paper also gives the comparative study of original AODV and modified AODV.

A Wireless Mobile Ad-hoc Network consists of variety of mobile nodes that temporally kind a dynamic infrastructure less network. To modify communication between nodes that don’t have direct radio contact, every node should operate as a wireless router and potential forward knowledge traffic of behalf of the opposite node. In MANET Localization is a fundamental problem. Current localization algorithm mainly focuses on checking the localizability of a network and/or how to localize as many nodes as possible. It could provide accurate position information foe kind of expanding application. Localization provide information about coverage, deployment, routing, location, services, target tracking and rescue If high mobility among the mobile nodes occurs path failure breaks. Hence the location information cannot be predicted. Here we have proposed a localization based algorithm which will help to provide information about the localized and non-localized nodes in a network. In the proposed approach DREAM protocol and AODV protocol are used to find the localizability of a node in a network. DREAM protocol is a location protocol which helps to find the location of a node in a network whereas AODV is a routing protocol it discover route as and when necessary it does not maintain route from every node to every other. To locate the mobile nodes in a n/w an node identification algorithm is used. With the help of this algorithm localized and non-localized node can be easily detected in respect of radio range. This method helps to improve the performance of a module and minimize the location error and achieves improved performance in the form of UDP packet loss, received packet and transmitted packets, throughput, routing overhead, packet delivery fraction. All the simulation done through the NS-2 module and tested the mobile ad-hoc network.

Simulation environment of the mobile Ad Hoc network is built by applying NS2 simulation software. The simulation data indicates that AODV routing protocol is better than DSDV in throughput, fairness and stability. In the underwater network environment where the nodes are in Low-Speed movement, the data transfer rate of AODV routing protocol is higher than AOMDV. To a certain extent, AODV is more suitable for application in underwater environments.

A Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes forming a temporary network without using centralized access points, infrastructure, or centralized administration. Routing means the act of moving information across an internet work from a source to a destination. The biggest challenge in this kind of networks is to find a path between the communication end points, what is aggravated through the node mobility. In this paper we present a new routing algorithm for mobile, multi-hop ad-hoc networks. The protocol is based on swarm intelligence. Ant colony algorithms are a subset of swarm intelligence and consider the ability of simple ants to solve complex problems by cooperation. The introduced routing protocol is well adaptive, efficient and scalable. The main goal in the design of the protocol is to reduce the overhead for routing. We refer to the protocol as the Ant Colony Optimization Routing (ACOR).

MANET is self organizing, decentralized and dynamic network. In which participating nodes can move anywhere. The nodes can be host or router anytime [1]. Mobile ad hoc network is decentralized network so if one node is participating as router for particular time but if that node leave network then it is very difficult to transfer data packets. The main feature of MANET network of self organizing capability of node has advantage and disadvantage as well. By this it is easy to maintain network and convert topology but at same time we need to tolerate data transfer. The MANET is also used for big network and internet but there is no smart objects like IoT which can share information machine to machine. Now rapidly increase internet users worldwide to access global information and technology [2]. IoT is basically used to converge applications and services to open global business opportunities which can use I-GVC (Information-driven Global Value Chain) for efficient productivity.
