Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) was used to evaluate the effect of lithology on aquifer transmissivity and conductivity in parts of Rivers State, Nigeria. A total of 10 Vertical Electrical Sounding were conducted at ten locations. The VES data were collected using ABEM terrameter SAS 300B and processed using Win-Resist Software and Microsoft Excel Sheet. The effect of the lithology on aquifer transmissivity and conductivity were analyzed. Result from the Vertical Electrical Sounding revealed a four to six geoelectric layers. The aquifer resistivity values range from 39.40Ωm to 17290.7Ωm. Results of the aquifer conductivity values range from 0.005 to 2.538cm/s with the highest value dominating in the central part of the study area suggesting large grain sands that can permeate groundwater flow while the transmissivity values range from 0.22587cm/s2 to 132.487 cm/s2 with average of 19.1587cm/s2. Area with high transmissivity is identified with high groundwater potential permeable with groundwater flow is seen in the central part of the study area with range of 110 to 135 cm/s2 indicating a thick sandy aquifer. Result from the nearby borehole in correlation with the VES point showed an agreement with the VES data at Ogale Eleme and Elelenwo location. The result of the study can be applied in ground water resources management, hydrological studies and provides valuable information for town planner.

This paper presents, reviews and evaluates the latest views and researches carried out on groundwater resources potential of the island of Crete. Data on the overall water budget of the island are provided, whilst information is also furnished on the actual water demands and the current percentage these are met. Comments and proposals are made towards further rational management of the documented rich groundwater potential of the island along with proposals on the utilization of the considerable surface runoff waters in the form of off-course basins and dams. The distinctiveness of the Water District of Crete, in comparison with the rest Districts of Greece, lays on the fact that it is the only one for which an Integrated Water Resources Management study exists that was compiled in the period 2000-2001. Elaboration of this study was assigned by the Regional Authority of Crete, Directorate for Planning and Development, Section of Water Resources Management, to the consorting consultancy firms of PAPAGRIGORIOU S., KAIMAKI S, PARLEROS V., PAPAGEORGIOU N, LAZARIDES and Ass., ATEM, with special scientific consultation from the firms ENVECO S.A. and WL/DELFT HYDRAULICS of Netherlands, on December 1999 following an international procurement.

This paper will describe the function of water resources to support business activities in Surakarta regency, Central Java province. Surakarta is a business city in Central Java province with small business enterprises and specific culture. This city has a famous river with the name is Bengawan Solo. Bengawan Solo is a River Flow Regional (RFR) to support business activities in Surakarta regency. Concious with the function, societies and local government in Surakarta must to manage the sustainability of River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo. It is important to manage the sustainability of business activity in Surakarta regency.   According to the condition in Surakarta regency, this paper will explain how the simulation of Low Impact Development Model in Surakarta regency. Low Impact Development is a model that can manage and evaluate sustainability of water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR). Low Impact Development can analys goals, structures, and process water resources management. The system can also evaluate results and impacts of water resources management. From this study, we hope that Low Impact Development can manage water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo.
