Crowding is one of the most common findings in orthodontic patients. This case report describes the correction of anterior crowding with interproximal reduction (IPR). The case is that of a 24-year-old female patient who consulted for irregularly placed anterior teeth. Fixed appliances were placed followed by IPR. Treatment time was 18 months. Class I molar relation was maintained, with normal overjet and overbite. IPR is effective for treatment of patients with Class I malocclusion with anterior moderate crowding.

Mandibular incisor extraction for orthodontic treatment is considered an unusual treatment option because of the limited number of patients that meet the criteria for such treatment. Accurate diagnosis and treatment planning is essential to achieve the desired results. Adult orthodontic patients are increasingly motivated by esthetic considerations and reject the idea of conventional fixed appliances. In recent years, Invisalign appliances have gained tremendous attention for orthodontic treatment of adult patients to meet their esthetic demands. In this case report, a case of Class I malocclusion was treated with mandibular incisor extraction using the Invisalign appliance system. Successful tooth alignment of both arches was achieved. The use of Invisalign appliance is an effective treatment option in adult patients with Class I malocclusion that requires incisor extraction due to moderate to severe mandibular anterior crowding.

A case report is presented with Class I malocclusion, moderate lower anterior crowding, maxillary dental midline shift with missing right lateral incisor. The adult orthodontic case was treated comprehensively with the extractions of lower lateral incisor, and upper and lower left first premolars as the balancing extraction. Remarkable improvements were achieved in facial profile, axial anterior inclination, esthetic smile and midline correction in short treatment time. Thus, it is concluded that lower incisor extraction in moderate lower anterior crowding and midline shift yield better and stable results with minimal intervention in select cases.

Maloklusi Angle Kelas I dengan hubungan skeletal Kelas I, bidental protrusi, overjet 3,7 mm, overbite 4 mm, crowding, edge to edge bite, cross bite dan bruxism. ABSTRACT: Edgewise Technique Combined with Trainer for Braces for Bruxism Patient. Bruxism is a parafunctional habit of grinding and clenching the teeth. It is common for patients with fixed orthodontic treatment to experience bruxism. When dealing with these patients, clinicians could initiate the bruxism treatment in conjunction with the orthodontic treatment. This case report will analyze the effects of Trainer for Braces (T4B) in a patient with malocclusion and bruxism habit. A 21 year old female patient complained of her crowding in upper and lower anterior teeth. The objective examination shows protrusion and crowding in upper and lower teeth, deep overbite, severe maxillary and mandibulary constriction, 47 linguoversion and bruxism habit. Angle Class I with skeletal Class I malocclusion, bidental protrusion, overjet 3.7 mm, overbite 4 mm, crowding, edge to edge bite, crossbite and bruxism habit. The orthodontic treatment used fixed preadjusted Edgewise appliance with Lingual Arch Bar for expansion and lingoversion molar correction. Trainer for Braces (T4B) was also prescribed to treat her bruxism. After 8 months of treatment, the crowding in upper and lower teeth was corrected, dental arch expansion was achieved, linguoversion molar was corrected, and overjet and overbite became 3.5 mm and the treatment was still on going. The combination of fixed preadjusted Edgewise appliance with Trainer for Braces (T4B) can be considered as an effective therapy for correcting malocclusion in bruxism patient.

ABSTRACTBackground: Broken instruments affect the outcome and prognosis. A broken instrument will prevent the procedure of cleaning and shaping, irrigation and obturation of the root canal on the obstructed root section causing failure in endodontic treatment. There are some treatments for broken instrument including retrieving a broken fragment file and bypassing it on the root canal. the aim of the case report aims to provide an alternative for retrieving broken instruments using the H-file braiding technique. Method: A 38-year-old female patient came to the Dental Conservation Clinic RSGM Prof. Soedomo FKG UGM. A patient got a history of initial root canal treatment in a clinic, which ended with a separated file on canine teeth left upper. No complain pain, from the investigation radiographic there is an instrument broken in half apical. The teeth 23 seen temporary restoration cavity class I is still in good. Retrieving broken instruments using the H-file braiding technique, preparation with step back techniques, obturation with warm vertical condensation technique and class I composite resin restorations with fiber-reinforced retention. Result: No complain pain after 2 weeks retrieving broken instrument. Conclusion: The technique of the H-file braiding technique is one technique to retrieve a broken instrument, this procedure is simple, cost-effective, harmless to the teeth and gives root canal sealing.

Abstract Aim The aim of this report is to present five-year follow-ups of two different applications for the use of direct laminate resin-based composite veneers to improve esthetics. Background Defects in the maxillary anterior teeth, such as enamel hypoplasia and peg lateral, can present esthetic challenges. Furthermore, a treatment plan that can be completed in a single appointment is highly desirable. This case report presents two different clinical cases involving the use of direct laminate resin-based composite veneers with five-year follow-ups. Case Report Case 1: A 17-year-old female patient was referred for treatment of her anterior teeth, which were unesthetically altered due to enamel hypoplasia and dental caries. A treatment plan was developed that included restoring the affected teeth with direct resin-based composite laminate veneers to improve the patient's appearance. The six maxillary anterior teeth were prepared for and restored with direct resinbased composite laminate veneers. At the fiveyear follow-up, the patient was satisfied with the restorations both esthetically and functionally. Case 2: A 15-year-old female patient also was referred for treatment to improve the appearance of her maxillary anterior teeth. A treatment plan was developed with two objectives: (1) to restore the undersized supernumerary crown in the area of the maxillary right lateral incisor and (2) to close the anterior diastemas. The facial surfaces were conservatively prepared and resin-based composite was applied with the aid of transparent crown forms. After completion of the treatment, the patient was recalled at six-month intervals. At the five-year follow-up appointment, the restorations were intact, no adverse effects were noted, and the resultant appearance was highly satisfactory for the patient. Summary The use of direct resin-based composite laminate veneers and adhesive bonding systems has been shown to provide an esthetic alternative to metal-ceramic or all-ceramic crowns for the rehabilitation of anterior teeth. This treatment option offers another advantage, namely a lower cost compared to an indirect technique. Other more complex and costly treatment options in the future are not ruled out. Clinical Significance In the present two cases, the initial and five-year follow-up results support the use of direct resin-based composite laminate veneers with minimal altering of healthy tooth structure. Such results should encourage clinicians to seek a cost-effective technique such as direct resin restorations to improve a patient's esthetic appearance in a single appointment. ABSTRACTMany approaches for crowded mandibular anterior teeth are currently employed: distal movement of posterior teeth, lateral movement of canines, labial movement of incisors, interproximal enamel reduction, removal of premolars, removal of one or two incisors, and various combinations of the above. Selecting the best treatment is often difficult, and all guidelines do not apply to every case. Treatment by extraction of one single mandibular incisor is not popular in the orthodontic profession despite the apparent advantages of the extraction in the region of crowding. A case report is presented one mandibular incisor extraction treatment of a 16 year-old female with a Class I malocclusion that shows a significant mandibular arch length deficiency and mandibular tooth-size excess. In this case, the degree of mandibular anterior dental crowding, existing mandibular tooth-size excess, and the dental midline discrepancy were indicated the extraction of one mandibular incisor. ABSTRACT Introduction New design of brackets have been introduced in the field of orthodontics in the recent past, and one of such advancement is the self-ligating brackets. These brackets are said to have less friction, with a shorter period of treatment. Better patient acceptance and good treatment results are some of the other advantages offered by self-ligating brackets. Hence, we comparatively evaluated root resorption of anterior teeth by self-ligating and conventional preadjusted brackets in cases of severe anterior crowding in class I patients. Materials and methods The present study was carried out at the department of orthodontics in a dental institution and included 140 patients that presented with the chief complaint of Angle class I malocclusion with crowding of more than 6 mm in the anterior tooth region. Two groups were formed with 70 patients in each group. In one group self-ligating brackets were used, while in other group conventional brackets were used. Malmgren's method was sued for evaluating the root resorption score ranging from 0 to 4. All the results were analyzed by the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software. Chi-square test, nonpaired t-test, and paired t-test were used to evaluate the level of significance. Results The mean age of the patients in groups I and II was 13.92 and 13.81 years respectively. While comparing age of the patients and time duration of the treatment, no significant results were obtained. While comparing the root resorptions at various time intervals in groups I and II patients, significant results were obtained. While comparing the root resorptions in between groups I and II patients, no statistically significant results were obtained (p-value > 0.05). Conclusion Statistically similar amount of resorption is seen in patients in both the groups either on self-ligating brackets or on conventional preadjusted brackets during treatment of Angle class I patients with severe anterior crowding. Clinical significance In treating anterior crowding patients with Angle class I patients, choice of brackets has no effect on the amount of root resorption.
