City design plays a major role in the way of life of its inhabitants. The growth of urban centers requires careful schemes to ascertain that the quality of life is not adversely influenced. The rate of motorization is increasing in Hyderabad, Pakistan due to inaccessible public transportation. An efficient public transportation system performs a critical part in sustaining and improving urban welfare by providing access to daily necessities. The basic aim of this study is to discuss the impacts of inaccessible public transportation on urban population, the environmental effect of recent urban transport designs, and the expansion in traffic congestion. Landsat images were used to highlight the existing public transportation routes and dynamic and more realistic travel distances and times were measured. Data were collected from local households and further frequency analysis was done through SPSS. The outcome of this research may assist the evolution of a sustainable and accessible transportation system for the urban population.

The ever-increasing traffic congestion echelons and the subsequent undesirable air quality in several metropolitan areas have raised the need for a successful public transportation system to ease the dependence on the private automobiles. Also the environmental economics is becoming more and more appealing taking into consideration different activities that have economic impact. One of such activities is public transportation. In the current scenario of globalization, public transportation services and systems need to perform introspective contemplation towards the quality of services offered (Michel, 2011). The research adopted a quantitative method of inquiry, therefore, a Survey Research Strategy was considered in order to provide a quantitative or numeric description of trends, attitudes, or opinions of a population by studying a sample of that population. It includes cross-sectional and longitudinal studies using questionnaires or structured interviews for data collection, with the intent of generalizing from a sample to a population (Babbie, 2010). In this context, this research study anticipated to critically evaluate the customers’ perception of the public transportation system and its impacts on service delivery: a case study of Busan Metropolitan City, Korea Republic. Create, maintain and development of public transport network in metropolitan are important problems in the field of urban transport management. In public transport, maximize the efficient use of public fleet capacity has been considered. Concepts and technologies of GIS have provided suitable way for management and optimization of the public transports systems. In demand-responsive public transportation system, firstly fellow traveller groups have been established for applicants based on spatial concepts and tools of GIS, second for each group according to its’ members and their paths, a public vehicle has been allocated to them then based on dynamic routing, the fellow passenger group has been gathered from their origins and has been moved to their destinations through optimal route. The suggested system has been implemented based on network data and commuting trips statistics of 1 to 6 districts in Tehran city. Evaluation performed on the results show the 34% increase using of Taxi capacity, 13% increase using of Van capacity and 10% increase using of Bus capacity in comparison between current public transport system and suggested public transportation system has been improved.

urban traffic congestion will not only cause traffic problems, but also lead to environmental problems. Important method to ease urban congestion is to establish advanced public transportation system in cities. Currently, partaking rate of public transportation is insufficient in China, thus making it impossible for public transportation to play expected role. In order to solve the problem of partaking rate of public transportation in cities, efforts should be made to give full play to the government’s role, improve internal operation efficiency and guide urban residents to select public transportation for trips actively.

The current public transportation in India is found to have higher traffic congestion levels within the bus and is an inefficient transport system for the public. The traffic and the over congested public transports we see on the roads is an effect of this problem. Increasing the public transportation is not the only solution, to make it better we also need to make it smarter. Though there are many other proposals for smart transportation we have come up with a unique way of approaching it. The aim is to provide smartness to the existing transportation system so that it becomes efficient and user-friendly for the public. The public need not depend on the paper tickets anymore and instead can have an smart RF ID with themselves which is not a big issue since its just credit card sized. One big advantage with this system is that public who are waiting to board can know the number of passengers in the vehicle and can decide whether to board or not beforehand. By this way the higher authorities can also see if there is a scarcity in any particular route and can immediately send more vehicles in the particular route. Using this technique, the congestion of the vehicles can be reduced and it will be easier for the public to make use of the public transportation system.

Traffic congestion problems generally caused by the increasing use of private vehicles and public transportations. In order to overcome the situation, the optimization of public transportation’s route is required particularly the urban transportation. In this research, the performance analysis of Firefly and Tabu Search algorithm is conducted to optimize eleven public transportation’s routes in Bandung. This optimization aims to increase the dispersion of public transportation’s route by expanding the scope of route that are crossed by public transportation so that it can reach the entire Bandung city and increase the driver’s income by providing the passengers easier access to public transportations in order to get to their destinations. The optimal route is represented by the route with most roads and highest number of incomes. In this research, the comparison results between the reference route and the public transportation’s optimized route increasing the dispersion of public transportation’s route to 60,58% and increasing the driver’s income to 20,03%.

This comparative study analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on motorized mobility in eight large cities of five Latin American countries. Public institutions and private organizations have made public data available for a better understanding of the contagion process of the pandemic, its impact, and the effectiveness of the implemented health control measures. In this research, data from the IDB Invest Dashboard were used for traffic congestion as well as data from the Moovit© public transport platform. For the daily cases of COVID-19 contagion, those published by Johns Hopkins Hospital University were used. The analysis period corresponds from 9 March to 30 September 2020, approximately seven months. For each city, a descriptive statistical analysis of the loss and subsequent recovery of motorized mobility was carried out, evaluated in terms of traffic congestion and urban transport through the corresponding regression models. The recovery of traffic congestion occurs earlier and faster than that of urban transport since the latter depends on the control measures imposed in each city. Public transportation does not appear to have been a determining factor in the spread of the pandemic in Latin American cities.
