Background: Railway accidents according to the NCRB, 25,006 people died and 3,882 were injured in a total of 28,360 railway accidents across the country in last year. Railway crossing accidents like India has an extensive rail network with high levels of injury and violence.Methods: This study was conducted at Forensic medicine department, PIMS (pondicherry institute of medical sciences). The study group consisted of all the victims reporting to PIMS hospital Mortuary, during the period of study (January 2015-January 2016) were subjected to thorough post mortem examination and the pattern of injuries were noted.Results: A total of 300 postmortems, performed at the mortuary of the Dept. of Forensic Medicine, DMC during the period of January to December 2016, were studied. Of them 164 (54.89%) cases were of accidents, 72 (23.19%) cases were suicide, 54 (17.12%) cases homicide, 8 (2.46%) cases undetermined and 2 (0.80%) cases were of natural deaths. In this study accidental deaths were commonest, seen in (72.12%) cases followed by suicidal (20.63%) and least was homicidal seen in (7.16%) cases.Conclusions: Deaths have occurred in association with railway since the inception of railway in the present study males are commonest victims of railway deaths which concurs with studies conducted by other authors. Helpline numbers should be printed inside the coaches to inform the authorities in case of emergency. Railway should strictly implement the laws of railway acts and the people should be penalized for breaking the rules for the safety of passengers.

Introduction: Hanging is one of the most commonly used methods for suicide in most countries. Commission of suicide by hanging is increasing in the people of Bangladesh. Suicidal hanging is detrimental to social health. Appropriate measures to prevent it are essential. Objectives: To find out the demography, cause and nature of suicidal hanging. Study design: It is a cross sectional type of descriptive study. Setting: Data was collected on predesigned proformas from postmortem reports recorded by the students of DFM and MD in Forensic Medicine at Dhaka medical college during their course. Subject: Autopsy performed on the cases of suicidal hanging at Dhaka Medical College Morgue from September, 2011 to June, 2013. Result: Out of 100 cases, eighty two (82%) were female and the most commonest (50%) age group were from 11-20 years. In 18(18%) cases Dopatta were the commonest material used for hanging. Quarrel with husband 12(12%) were the predominant cause to destroy life. In ninety (90%) cases had complete suspension where the most commonest situation of gap was on the back (38.89%). During autopsy of suicidal hanging there were injuries on the body of deceased in few cases. But these injuries did not result in death of the victim. Homicide means killing one human being by another humafilt is a global problem and has significant consequence for both social and economic security of the people as well as national development This study warmed to describe patterns of the homicidal behavior in a major metropolitan area. Dhaka city and the relationships among socio-demographic characteristics. This was a cross-sectional study during the period of July 2017 to June 2018 in the Department of Forensic Medicine, Dhaka Medical College. A total number of 935 cases wereautopsied during the period,of which 319 cases were included in the study as homicidaldeath. All the inquest reports and the challan were read through along with post-mortem reports during the study period. The data were collected during the autopsy as well as from the registration books (Govt. records.) in the department of Forensic Medicine, Dhaka Medical College.Out of 319 homicidal death, 227cases were above the age of 30 years (71.15 % of the total cases),233 cases were male (73.04 %) and 86 were female (26.95 %) whereas considering religion, the majority were Muslim 287 in number (89.20%) and the rest were other religion. According to the types of wound 198 cases were stab and eta-throat, 81 cases were strangulation, 32cases were firearm injury & the 08 cases were suffocated The majority of deceased resulting from stab and cut-throat injuries and those were above 30 years of age group. The most of homicidal death occurred among the young age group which is very alarming to the society and for the nation. So, we should be aware enough to prevent such cases.
