In this paper, the dielectric properties of modified i. e. alkali doped lead zirconate titanate Pb(Zr1- xTix)O3 has been studied. The composition Pb1-x (La1-zDz)x (Zry Ti1-y)1-x/4 O3;where x = 0.10, y = 0.70, z = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3, D= Na, K and Li has been prepared by conventional mixed oxide method at a temperature of 11000C. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss measurement of the sintered pellets has been measured. Dielectric measurement shows that the dielectric constant decreases with an increase in temperature. The results show that the dielectric loss is very small and decreases with frequency above 300°C. The increase in the dielectric constant observed at high temperatures and low frequencies is explained in the paraelectric state.

To prevent the potential cracking of gel fibers, La modified lead zirconate titanate (PLZT) ceramic fibers with diameter within 50µm were achieved by embedding into PLZT powders during the heat treatment. Then the 1-3 PLZT fiber/interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) piezoelectric composites were prepared by casting the IPN precursors onto the well aligned ceramic fibers. The influences of the heating temperatures and La amounts on the dielectric constant, dielectric loss with frequencies and piezoelectric constant of PLZT were investigated in detail. The morphologies of fibers and composites were observed by biological microscope. And also, the dielectric constant of PLZT fibers and PLZT fiber/IPN piezoelectric composites were detected.

Effect of pre-heating temperature on the properties of Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) powders and films was investigated. PZT powders and films were prepared via a triol-based sol–gel route. The PZT powders prepared at various heating temperatures were characterized. The preheating temperature range of 200°C–400°C and annealing temperature of 600°C were chosen to make the films. AFM micrograph revealed the thin films with homogeneous, dense, and crack-free properties. The pre-heating temperature was found to have a significant effect on phase formation, prefer orientation, and dielectric properties of the films. Higher dielectric constant and dielectric loss were observed at higher pre-heating temperature. However, all films showed the dielectric loss less than 0.04.

The dielectric properties of the 0-3 lead zirconate titanate (PZT)-portland cement (PC) composite with carbon addition were investigated. Lead zirconate titanate (PZT), Portland cement (PC) composite and carbon powder were fabricated using 50% of PZT, and varying addition of carbon 1, 2 % by volume. The dielectric properties were measured under room temperature at different frequency from 1kHz-20kHz. Carbon addition was found to slightly increase the dielectric constant of PZT-PC composite at room temperature. The results also show that both the carbon powder addition and frequency affected the dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent of 0-3 all PZT-PC composites.

Studies have been made of the dielectric behavior of several ferroelectric ceramic materials when a two-dimensional stress was applied normal to the axis of polarization. It has been shown that the dielectric constant decreases and the dielectric loss increases with increasing stress, part of the change being irreversible and part reversible. Upon application of stress to a sample, the dielectric constant did not change instantaneously but appeared to decrease linearly with the logarithm of time. Mechanisms are suggested for the observed effects.

A study of dielectric properties of composite films on the base of poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) copolymer P(VDF-TrFE) and ferroelectric ceramics of barium lead zirconate titanate (BPZT) solid solution is presented in this work. The composite films containing up to 50 vol.% of BPZT grains with size [Formula: see text]1[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m were prepared by the solvent cast method. Frequency dependences of real and imaginary components of the complex permittivity were determined. The concentration dependence of the dielectric constant was discussed.
