scholarly journals Research on Establishing Size System and Designing Shoe Lasts for Female Diabetics in Vietnam

Shoe lasts are tool for designing and manufacturing shoes, mainlly deciding on the shape, fit and comfort of the shoe. The paper presents the method and results of setting up the size system and designing shoe lasts for female diabetics based on the results of studying foot shape and size, requirements of shoes for diabetics. The parameters of 7 shoe last sizes in length with 3 sizes of width/girth according to the Mondopoint international size system are built. The parameters of shoe lasts for female diabetics are much bigger than those for normal women, especially the ball is bigger than 24 mm, the ball width is larger than 6 mm. Using shoe last design software, 3D printing technology has designed and manufactured shoe lasts, that meet the requirements to make shoes for female diabetics in Vietnam.

The development of 3D technology has brought opportunities and challenges to the footwear industry because people’s living standards have been improving due to economic development, and people have higher requirements for the design of fashion shoes and boots. The use of 3D printing technology in the design of fashion shoes and boots can enable faster molding of footwear products, enrich the shape of footwear, and meet people’s aesthetic needs for fashion shoes. In this paper, we firstly describe the advantages of 3D printing molding shoe models and then use 3D laser foot scanning and measuring instrument to scan and obtain the cloud map of shoe lasts and foot-related data. Secondly, we realize the digital management of shoe lasts by establishing the database of solid models. On this basis, we apply the technology of least squares support vector machine improvement algorithm to make partial modifications to the lasts according to the need to leave the appropriate helper and foot lining degrees. Finally, based on this technology, we apply the least squares support vector machine improvement algorithm technology to make partial modifications to the last shape according to the need for appropriate helper and foot lining degrees to realize the process of shoe last redesign. The last model and role model can also be produced by 3D printing technology, which can be used as a mold to facilitate the processing of the cut last 2D unfolding material for shoe and boot production later. Therefore, the article studies and analyzes the design and manufacturing process of digital shoe lasts based on individual foot shape and uses CAD/CAM technology to realize the digitalization of shoe last design.

Electromechanical sensing devices, based on resins doped with carbon nanotubes, were developed by digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing technology in order to increase design freedom and identify new future and innovative applications. The analysis of electromechanical properties was carried out on specific sensors manufactured by DLP 3D printing technology with complex geometries: a spring, a three-column device and a footstep-sensing platform based on the three-column device. All of them show a great sensitivity of the measured electrical resistance to the applied load and high cyclic reproducibility, demonstrating their versatility and applicability to be implemented in numerous items in our daily lives or in industrial devices. Different types of carbon nanotubes—single-walled, double-walled and multi-walled CNTs (SWCNTs, DWCNTs, MWCNTs)—were used to evaluate the effect of their morphology on electrical and electromechanical performance. SWCNT- and DWCNT-doped nanocomposites presented a higher Tg compared with MWCNT-doped nanocomposites due to a lower UV light shielding effect. This phenomenon also justifies the decrease of nanocomposite Tg with the increase of CNT content in every case. The electromechanical analysis reveals that SWCNT- and DWCNT-doped nanocomposites show a higher electromechanical performance than nanocomposites doped with MWCNTs, with a slight increment of strain sensitivity in tensile conditions, but also a significant strain sensitivity gain at bending conditions.
