Sergiu Moraru – outstanding personality of the culture of the Republic of Moldova, appreciated by both guild colleagues and natives. The flame of memory remains forever alive as long as there is a child who opens his book, says his name or remembers the moments spent together. Enormous thanks to the collaborators of the Institute of Romanian Philology „Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu”, for which October 10 is a reason to take refuge in the creation of the folklorist. The hope that the day will come when we will read Sergiu Moraru’s books in Latin script does not leave us.

Enterprises in their classical form are complex and inflexible structures, unable to respond quickly to the environmental changes. At the same time, the existing national and international regulations and procedures limit their agility and velocity of work but are necessary for the existence of business settlements. We all know that such structures do not stimulate the creation and promotion of innovations that we all need, and that can lead not only to competitive advantage but also to the development of country indices. In this respect, the article aims to determine the influence of the Republic of Moldova economic development index by the joint ventures and stateowned enterprises’ investments. In the research, we use the documentation methods of statistical data and two linear regression unifactorial econometric models and the statistical procedure Least Squares Method. The article analyzes the positions of the Republic of Moldova and the Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika regarding the settlement of the “Transnistrian conflict”. It arose in 1992 in connection with the intention of the Chisinau authorities to prohibit the use of the Russian language in the country and unite with Romania. The split of Moldova into two States led to the creation of a latent military and political crisis in the region. The conflict is still unresolved. International negotiations in the “5 + 2” format on the Transnistrian issue practically ceased. The war in the south-east of Ukraine strengthened the blockade of Transnistria, complicated the socio-economic situation of the population. The leadership of Moldova insists on a forceful version of reintegration, with which the population of Transnistria disagrees.

Abstract This paper discusses the competing processes between Moldovan and Romanian identities for the creation of a national identity in the Republic of Moldova. The issue of a common national identity for the people of the Republic of Moldova has been a problem since the beginning of this state’s independence. Throughout the 25 years of independence, different concepts of a Moldovan nation have competed in public, scientific, and political discourse. As a result of the historical context, the region has a linguistic specificity, which is based on the example of the Romanians, Moldovans, and Russians living in this region. Through archival research, field research, and interviews with Moldovan intellectuals and officials, this study recognizes the need for a national identity in the creation of unity and a sense of nationalism for Moldovan citizens.
