The article describes the technology of manufacturing conductors for power supply systems for cranes, railway vehicles, powerful critical electric motors and power systems. The results of studies for copper-steel samples are shown; in these systems there is a decrease in material losses due to an increase in the strength and durability of products. The proposed technology can be used to use steel-copper wires in power supply loss compensation systems.

An electric motor is a device that changes electrical energy into mechanical energy for railway vehicles. When developing the electric motor, it used to be developed simply for structures or control methods of the motor itself without considering convergence with other devices or technologies. However, as the railway vehicles become more advanced, technology development through convergence with other devices or technologies is spreading. Therefore, based on patent data related to the electric motors applied to the railway vehicles, this research aims to carry out technical forecasting for establishing research and development (R and D) direction for new technologies by predicting vacant technologies from the point of view of technology convergence. In other words, we studied how to find the vacant technologies in a field of convergence technology for the electric motor of the railway vehicles by analyzing the patent data. More specifically, we search the patents data associated with the electric motor of the railway vehicle that contain multiple IPC codes, and use multiple IPC codes to determine the field of convergence technology. In addition, we extract keywords from the patents data related to each of the determined convergence technologies and define the vacant technologies by interpreting the field of convergence technology and the extracted keywords.

Many high voltage applications require three-phase inverters.  The major challenge in inverter designing is the mitigation of harmonic distortion (HD) to achieve better inverting performance. Usually, sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) is widely used to trigger the inverting switches for controlling the total HD performance in the inverter. To provide the option of multiple operating ranges the multilevel inverters are designed for higher voltage operations. This paper contributes in two passes, first, an improved SPWM modulation is generated for designing the three levels inverter. Then in the second pass, the performance of the THD is evaluated under the different load conditions using V-I measurement. THD is present in the system due to the use of switches. Therefore, this paper has evaluated the performance of the proposed improved SPWM based multilevel inverter for analysis. In order to improve the performance, the modulation index of the SPWM block is varied. The performance of the component report is also presented in the short..the output waveform of the line current and the voltage are compared; The FFT analysis is done to evaluate the comparison of THD performance. It is concluded that improving the SPWM performance and the lording conditions may improve the THD performance also.

Flash fire caused by electric arc is different than that caused by flammable liquids/fumes or combustible dusts. A suitable protective clothing for protection against electric arc-flash must be designed as per Indian weather conditions. Currently available garments are manufactured using two or three layers of woven/nonwoven combinations to achieve higher Hazard Risk Category (HRC) rating (level 3 and above). However, they are heavy and not comfortable to the end users. Savesplash® is a single layer inherent flame-retardant knitted fabric. Its arc rating was determined using ASTM standards. It achieved arc thermal performance value (ATPV) of 41 cal/cm2, breakopen threshold energy (E_BT) of 42 cal/cm2 and heat attenuation factor (HAF) of 94% when tested as per ASTM F1959/F1959M-14 which translated into an arc rating of 41 cal/cm2. This is equivalent to HRC level 4 ratings as per National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 70E standard (USA). Further, cut and sewn gloves (HM-100) developed using Savesplash® fabric reinforced with leather on palm area achieved ATPV of 63 cal/cm2 and HAF of 94.5% when tested as per ASTM F2675/F2675M-13.
