Total Quality Management (TQM) a functioning idea to accomplish incessant performance improvement-is the word of mouth of the 1990s, attracting deep interest among organizations and educational institutions in many countries. Numerous policy-makers truly believe that TQM can improve the performance of their organizations but they did not test it to make sure the effect of TQM. Hence, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect of TQM on university performance in Jordan. This relationship obtains a substantial scholarly attention and several researches have been conducted in the western countries, but none has been conducted in Jordan in the recent year using this variable in a model. A structured survey was conducted and selected 10 public and 10 private universities in Jordan via cluster random sampling. The hypotheses were tested using SEM-AMOS package 22.0 based on resource based theory. Based on the statistical results, TQM has statistically significant effect on university performance in Jordan. Consequently, the findings evoked that there is a dire need to focus on TQM for boosting university performance and its sustainability in Jordan.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the main total quality management (TQM) elements adopted and the respective results achieved by higher education institutions (HEIs) in Greece. Design/methodology/approach A research study was designed and carried out in private sector Greek HEIs. Fifteen HEIs were approached through interviews based on a structured questionnaire. The measured variables of the TQM elements and results identified in the literature were used as the questionnaire items. Descriptive statistics were applied to determine the TQM elements mostly adopted and the results achieved by the HEIs. Findings According to the findings, the TQM elements mostly adopted by the Greek HEIs concern the following: student focus, leadership and top management commitment, strategic quality planning, process management and teaching staff and employee involvement. On the other hand, the most significant results achieved by the sample HEIs concern quality performance improvement, teaching staff and employee satisfaction, operational performance improvement and the positive impact on society. Research limitations/implications The subjective data collection involved chief executive officers of a small sample of HEIs operating in a European Union country. Thus, no advanced statistical methods could be applied. Based on these limitations, future research studies are recommended. Practical implications By focusing on specific TQM elements, an HEI can develop a robust TQM model, approach business excellence, which can, in turn, help the HEI apply for appropriate quality awards, and finally derive significant benefits. In doing so, an HEI can lay the foundations for being competitive in the current global context that is characterised by an economic downturn. Originality/value This study contributes to the literature by empirically determining the TQM elements mostly adopted as well as the respective results achieved by Greek HEIs in a period of economic downturn. This is the first research study in the field of TQM in higher education that has been carried out in Greece in a period where many service organisations, whether private or public, are making significant efforts to withstand the current downturn and achieve a sustainable growth.

Quality of education prepares one to meet the challenges in the society and therefore, become economically productive, contribute to peaceful and independent societies and enhance individual well-being. In recent years, TQM and school climate has received worldwide attention and been adopted in many educational institutions, particularly in developed countries. However, in developing countries the amount of research is scarce into successful implementation of TQM and school climate. This study aims to investigate the relationships, between TQM and school climate with the key dimension of teachers’ student’s relationship, decision making, collaborative, teaching innovation and school resources to achieve high school performance. The purpose of this study is to highlight the concept of TQM in the field of educational institutions to achieve the quality in education. In order to understand the issue, this conceptual paper reviewed several published research papers and identify the TQM and school climate dimensions to make a conceptual framework. The main objective of this paper is to focus on the effects of total quality management on students’ academic achievement of secondary school students in Pakistan with better school climate.

Improving the quality of education is a problem that is still experienced by many educational institutions. To improve the quality of education, institutions need a system to help achieve quality education quality. So this study aims to analyze the application of Total Quality Management in the school accreditation program as an effort to improve the quality of education. This research is a literature study by taking data from several books and literature. This data collection technique uses documentation techniques and data analysis techniques using critical analysis which is interesting from several research documents. The results of this study indicate that improving the quality of education is carried out by implementing Total Quality Management. Total Quality Management is carried out by continuous improvement, determining quality standards, changing culture, changing organizations, maintaining relationships with customers and focusing on customer satisfaction. and have a commitment to change.

The implementation of total quality management is applied to every educational institution as an effort to improve the quality of education. In this case, it is important to carry out management functions in each educational institution. This article discusses the implementation of total quality management in educational institutions to seek to improve the quality of education in achieving a quality standard in education. Every educational institution should show better quality and be able to compete. This is intended so that educational institutions continue to gain the trust of the public and stakeholders. To continue to get this, it must be improved continuously, both physically and non-physically. So as to make a quality educational institution and guaranteed quality. The task of the teacher to give instructions and guide students for more progressive in their knowledge, skills and self-constructivity to develop their potential. The teacher carries out his duties requiring technical skills that are supported by certain personality attitudes, and are guided by a code of ethics at the institution where he works, especially in Islamic education institutions. Technical skills, personality attitudes, obedience to religious values ​​should develop when teaching profession is supported, and the situation provides opportunities in a professional manner, and teacher can realize the vision and mission of teaching and simultaneously carry out the vision and targets of the educational institutions in which they work. Increased professionalism of teachers requires Total Quality Management (TQM) which aims to encourage management to work in total to improve quality, quality assurance and provide satisfaction to customers; parents, students themselves and other stakeholders.
