This research explores and confirms a new way of measuring the quality aspect of an academic program based on hospitality education. In our opinion, there is a growing demand for specialists in hospitality education in India. The fact that the number of hospitality education institutes is increasing doesn’t go hand in hand with the care for the quality of education. Hence, we present one set an alternative trajectory by offering a new instrument APQUAL for measurement of quality of hospitality program offered by an educational institute. A critical review of the literature on the major instrument for measuring higher education quality has been done. The empirical part of the paper presents the developed in eight steps APQUAL construct that is an effective instrument to analyze the academic program quality. This work explored a number of facets of program quality by employing EFA (exploratory factor analysis) and CFA (confirmatory factor analysis) to fit the first order nonrecursive model and calculated the reliability and validity of our proposed instrument. This research provides a valid measure of academic program quality, which can be also applicable at the micro-level.

Students‘ assassment of the quality of teaching and educationis a valuable tool through which lecturers can find out what the participants think of their educational task. This is a kind of assessment which is embeded right in the centre of the pedagogical act and which brings together the principal agents pertaining to the university teaching system (students, lecturers, and the staff in charge). However, this form of assessment is disputed as it encounters significant obstacles, namely difficulties in terms of the management of this assessment as well as in terms of reliability and validity of its measuring tools. This paper aims at providing the necessary steps for an elaboration and a foundation of an online measure of evaluating teaching and education. Such a computerised evaluation is to be administeredby students who are studying at the Faculty of Science, Ben M’Sik - Casablanca, Morocco. To begin with, in this online tool of evaluatin we shall describe the stages of this elaboration, includingcertain chosen criteria. Secondly, we will show the way in which the functionalities and possibilities of an online tool of assessment can effectively be handledby students within an institute of Higher Education. In concludion,we end this study by providing a factor analysis of this computerised instrument: this is to be carried out through the most important measures, namely, validity and authenticity.

In Spanish families, parent-child relationships play a crucial role, but they also present specific risks for the children’s transition to adulthood which may hinder their individuation and foster the creation of dysfunctional family patterns in their family of origin. In Spain there is a lack of instruments to assess parent-child relationships in these terms. The present study examines the psychometric properties of a battery to assess individuation with mother, individuation with father, and the existence of dysfunctional family patterns (DFP) in 535 young Spanish adults (20–31 years). Items from the Munich Individuation Test of Adolescence ( Walper, 1998 ), the Network of Relationships Inventory ( Furman & Buhrmester, 1985 ), the Filial Responsibility Scale ( Jurkovic & Thirkield, 1999 ), and the Feeling Caught Between Parents and Parental Pressure scales ( Walper & Schwarz, 2001 ) have been used. The initial structure obtained through exploratory factor analysis underwent a confirmatory factor analysis. The results hint at a model adjusted to the data which guarantees the construct validity of the proposed structure. Internal consistencies for scales and subscales were acceptable to excellent, with α ranging from .62 to .91. Different indices of concurrent validity were also analyzed. The results generally support the reliability and validity of the new instrument. Limitations are discussed.

Various survey measures have been developed to assess prison climate. Because these instruments have shortcomings, the Prison Climate Questionnaire (PCQ) was developed to measure prison climate and its related domains across a broad prison population. In this article, the instrument and its psychometric qualities are presented. Results show that the PCQ’s factor structure, reliability, and validity were in all aspects satisfactory. It was concluded that the PCQ is a promising instrument that can be used to measure and monitor individuals’ perceptions on the quality of prison life.

Decision making is most important factor in organizations. It was essential to introduce the new instrument which could help the employees to make spontaneous decisions. The mix methods research was used. Data was collected from 511 respondents using survey. Reliability and validity factor analysis (EFA & CFA) identified four dimensions of intuition i.e. experience, judgment, thinking and emotion/gut feeling styles. The main contribution of this study is refinement of analytic-intuitive style dimension by splitting intuition into four more dimensions. Initial instrument was developed having 95 items for five dimensions Emotional Style (26-Items), Experience style (27-Items), thinking style (15-Items), Feeling style (10-Items) and the Judgmental style (12-Items). Thus, total 800 questionnaires were distributed randomly of which 685 were retrieved. The measurement model was developed and tested in the SPSS and AMOS-SEM. The newly developed instrument was found valid and reliable having 12 final items, 3 items for each construct likewsie (experience, judgment, thinking and emotion/gut feeling style.

Background: The brief generic Multicultural Quality of Life Index (MQLI) is a culturally informed self-report 10-item questionnaire used to measure health-related quality of life (QoL). QoL is an important outcome measure in guiding healthcare and is held as a substantial parameter to evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children might negatively influence the parents’ QoL. Having a validated questionnaire to measure QoL for this population will therefore be a vital first step in guiding healthcare for parents of children with ADHD. We aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Norwegian version of the MQLI in a sample of parents of children with ADHD.Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 128 parents of children with ADHD were recruited from four outpatient clinics within the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Norway. They completed the MQLI along with an alternative well-being scale, the Five-item World Health Organization Well-being Index (WHO-5), and a form including demographic variables. Reliability and validity of the MQLI were examined. We conducted a factor analysis and calculated internal consistency and the correlation between the MQLI and the WHO-5.Results: Factor analysis of the parents reported MQLI yielded a one-factor solution. For the MQLI, Cronbach’s alpha was 0.73. The correlation between the two measures of MQLI and WHO-5 was high (r = 0.84), reflecting convergent validity since the association between the two measures was strong. Conclusion: Results from this study support the reliability and validity of the Norwegian version of the MQLI for assessment of quality of life in parents of children with ADHD with good psychometric properties. Study findings support the use of the questionnaire in CAMHS.

Abstract Background: To adapt insufficiencies of the Somatic Symptom Scale-8 (SSS-8) measuring somatization in functional dyspepsia (FD) to develop PHQ-8, of which reliability, validity and the effects of somatization evaluated by the developed PHQ-8 on quality of life (QoL) were further assessed. Methods: 612 FD patients completed a 25 items questionnaire. 8 items were selected from 25 items to constitute the PHQ-8 by discrete degree, correlation coefficient, factor analysis and Cronbach coefficient four methods. Reliability and validity for the PHQ-8 and the SSS-8 were compared by principal component and confirmatory factor analysis. The effects of somatization, depression and anxiety on the Nepean Dyspepsia Index (NDI) for QoL were explored by Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis. Results: Cronbach’s α coefficients for the PHQ-8 and the SSS-8 were 0.601, 0.553, and cumulative contribution rates of three extracted factors were 55.103%, 51.666%, respectively. Somatization evaluated by the PHQ-8(r=0.309, P<0.001) and the SSS-8 (r=0.281, P<0.001) were related to the NDI. The model for the PHQ-8 showed χ2=31.247, RMR=0.01, RMSEA=0.042, GFI=0.984. Linear regression analysis showed that somatization measured by the PHQ-8 (β=0.270, P<0.001), anxiety (β=0.163, P<0.001) and depression (β=0.136, P=0.003) were determinants of the NDI; somatization measured by the SSS-8 (β=0.250, P<0.001), anxiety (β=0.156, P<0.001) and depression (β=0.155, P =0.001) were determinants of the NDI.Conclusions: The developed PHQ-8 had a better reliability and validity, which assessing somatization appeared to have a greater impact on QoL than that of the SSS-8. These results suggested that the developed PHQ-8 might improve to study the effects of somatization on QoL instead of the SSS-8 in specific FD patients.
