The characteristics of firm’s expansion by differentiated products and diversified products are quite different. However, the study employing absorptive capacity to examine the impacts of different modes of expansion on performance of small solar energy firms has never been discussed before. Then, a conceptual model to analyze the tension between strategies and corporate performance is proposed to filling the vacancy. After practical investigation, the results show that stronger organizational institutions help small solar energy firms expanded by differentiated products increase consistency between strategies and corporate performance; oppositely, stronger working attitudes with weak management controls help small solar energy firms expanded by diversified products reduce variance between strategies and corporate performance.

An adequate understanding of psychosexuality requires a conceptual model from which conclusions can be drawn. Most contemporary sex research and counseling adopts secular and humanistic assumptions about relationships. While such research is factually valuable, it disregards the spiritual aspects of man and fails to allow a moral dimension by which to evaluate behavior. A three-dimensional model is, therefore, proposed to represent the continuum of homosexuality-heterosexuality, of orientation and activity, and of morality. The specific case of homosexual activity is examined in the light of this model.

Thanks to the “fitting gauge” conceptual model, developed in our lab, any geometric tolerance can be interpreted in the form of a virtual three-dimensional gauge, which is able to be assembled with the part to be inspected. From a file containing the sampled points of the part to inspect, the experimental software, using this conceptual model, permits one to build the virtual gauge defined by the geometric tolerance and to check that it can be assembled and adjusted, according to a precise order, with clouds of points representing the part. Checking the geometric tolerances is thus strictly in conformity with their standardized meaning and it is extremely simplified.

This article introduces the Cascading Helix as a three-dimensional dynamic, conceptual model which represents formal and informal relationships in an organization. The Helix replaces the traditional two-dimensional static model which has been used for decades. It is suggested that this latter model has become inadequate to represent real world conditions that exist in the eighties. The Helix can be used by companies as a practical model. Employees' names can be attached hierarchically to the Helix which can move from steady state to inversion and back to steady state. This dynamic process introduces an Important concept, i.e. the benefits of shared strategic responsibility. Strategic decision-making is not the sole domain of top management. Each employee has a contribution to make in determining the direction of the company. Certain topics, important to a firm's survival are also discussed. These include informal communication, values and culture, organizational control, conflict resolution and strategic management. In this article it is suggested that the Cascading Helix can be used as an educational tool in these areas to bring about necessary changes in the organization's philosophy and behaviour.Hlerdie artikel stel die Dinamiese Spiraal (Cascading Helix) as 'n driedimensionele dinamiese begripsmodel bekend, wat formele en informele verhoudings binne 'n organisasie verteenwoordig. Die spiraal vervang die tweedimensionele, statiese model wat al vir dekades in gebruik is. Dit blyk dat die model nie langer werklike wereldtoestande van die tagtigerjare weerspieel nie. Maatskappye kan die spiraal as 'n praktiese model gebruik. Werknemers se name kan hierargies aan die spiraal gekoppel word, en die spiraal kan beweeg van 'n stabiele staat tot die omgekeerde, en weer terug na stabiel. Die dinamiese proses stel 'n belangrike begrip bekend, naamlik die voordele van gemeenskaplike strategiese verantwoordelikheid. Die topstruktuur het nie meer alleenreg op strategiese besluitneming nie. Elke werknemer kan 'n bydrae lewer tot die bepaling van die rigting van die maatskappy. Sekere onderwerpe wat belangrik is vir 'n maatskappy se voortbestaan word ook bespreek. Dlt sluit informele kommunikasie, waardes en kultuur, organisatoriese beheer, konflikoplossing en strategiese bestuur in. In hierdie artikel word daar voorgestel dat die dinamiese spiraal gebruik kan word as opleidingswerktuig op hierdie gebiede, om die nodige veranderlnge in die organisasie se beleid en optrede te bewerkstelllg.

With the ubiquitous availability of browsers and Internet access, the last few years have seen a tremendous growth in the number of applications being developed on the World Wide Web (WWW). Models for analyzing and designing these applications are only just beginning to emerge. In this work, we propose a three-dimensional classification space for WWW applications, consisting of a degree of structure of pages dimension, a degree of support for interrelated events dimension, and a location of processing dimension. Next, we propose usability design metrics for WWW applications along the structure of pages dimension. To measure these, we propose CMU-WEB–a conceptual model that can be used to design WWW applications, such that its schema provide values for the design metrics. This work represents the first effort, to the best of our knowledge, to provide a conceptual model that measures quantifiable metrics that can be used for the design of more usable Web applications, and that can also be used to compare the usability of existing Web applications, without empirical testing.

<p>The Urban Wind Island (UWI), a small but persistent positive wind anomaly over the city as a whole, has previously been revealed using a simplified conceptual model of the convective atmospheric boundary layer. However, the urban boundary layer is strongly heterogeneous and complex, and many interactions with surrounding land-use are not taken into account with the conceptual model used. Additionally, the transition to a stable or neutral nocturnal boundary layer substantially influences wind speed, for instance leading to nocturnal jets, which could also lead to UWI formation. This study extends the UWI research into less idealised cases by using the 3D WRF mesoscale model for Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and its surroundings, at 500m resolution. Two summers of forecast results for in total 173 days are used to identify whether the UWI persists in a 3-dimensional modelling environment, and which conditions are optimal for its formation and persistence. In order to focus only on wind modified by surface processes, large-scale influences which modify wind speed, such as frontal passages, are identified and eliminated from the dataset. We find that a positive UWI is present roughly half the time, with an order of magnitude that is similar to the previous work (~ 0.5 m/s). In addition we find an evening UWI that is caused by the delayed onset of the transition from an unstable to a stable or a neutral boundary layer in the urban area, while the rural area is already stable and calm.</p><p> </p>
