Abstract: This paper discusses the creative process of the street performance Motim (Mutiny) (2015) from the perspective of laughter as a bio-potent performative action. We discuss how the relational thinking emerged within the framework of a process dramaturgy (Kerkhove, 1997), conceptualizing creative thinking as a network (Salles, 2006). The collaborative creative process of Motim started with three ways of approaching the act of laughing: physicality, memory and contagion. By focusing on contagion, we will discuss how relational thinking was installed in the creative process of Motim and was powered by the investigative aspect of laughter as contagion.

What different kinds of festival are to be found on the ever-expanding international circuit? What companies are invited or gatecrash the events? What is the role of festivals and festival-going in a global theatrical economy? In this article Murray Edmond describes three festivals which he attended in Poland in the summer of 2007 – the exemplary Malta Festival, held in Poznan; the Warsaw Festival of Street Performance; and the Brave Festival (‘Against Cultural Exile’) in Wroclaw – and through an analysis of specific events and productions suggests ways of distinguishing and assessing their aims, success, and role in what Barthes called the ‘special time’ which festivals have occupied since the Ancient Greeks dedicated such an occasion to Dionysus. Murray Edmond is Associate Professor of Drama at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. His recent publications include Noh Business (Berkeley: Atelos Press, 2005), a study, via essay, diary, and five short plays, of the influence of Noh theatre on the Western avant-garde, and articles in Contemporary Theatre Review (2006), Australasian Drama Studies (April 2007), and Performing Aotearoa: New Zealand Theatre and Drama in an Age of Transition (2007). He works professionally as a dramaturge, notably for Indian Ink Theatre Company, and has also published ten volumes of poetry, of which the most recent is Fool Moon (Auckland: Auckland University Press, 2004).

This paper develops means of apprehending the rhythms of everyday practices and performances. Emerging from the context of recent calls for more explicit engagements with issues surrounding research methods and methodologies in the doing of cultural geography, and in particular in the examination of the geographies of practices, the paper responds to critiques of recent discussions of urban and social rhythms that highlight limitations in the articulation of methods for actually apprehending everyday rhythms. As such, in conversation with Lefebvre’s portrait of the rhythmanalyst and other works interested in the significance of rhythm to social practices, the paper proposes time-lapse photography as a useful component of such a rhythm-analytical, and more generally practice-orientated, methodology. In doing so, the paper draws attention to this method’s ability to document and facilitate the reflection upon the complex durational unfolding of events and the situation of key occurrences within this polyrhythmia. This is illustrated in relation to the everyday rhythms of a specific urban space in Bath, UK and a street magician’s variously successful attempt to intervene into the everyday life of Bath.

This article examines the performative transformation of street spaces into performance places by considering the practices of street performers. Street performance here refers to a set of practices whereby either musical or nonmusical performances are undertaken in the street with the aim of eliciting donations from passersby. Drawing on ethnographic observations undertaken in Bath, U.K., and situating the discussion in recent conceptions of everyday life and public space, the specific sociospatial interventions that street performances make into Bath’s everyday life are considered. In doing so, the article focuses on the fleeting social relations that emerge from these interventions and what these can do to the experience of the everyday in terms of producing moments of sociality and conviviality. This is also reflected on in light of the various debates that have occurred in Bath as a result of these interventions relating to the increased regulation of street performances. The article then highlights the conflicted and contentious position that street performers occupy in the everyday life of such cities.

Ruang esensinya adalah tempat manusia hidup dan beraktivitas. Namun tidak semua aktivitas dapat terakomodir karena setiap ruang dibatasi dengan fungsinya masing-masing. Bagi ruang pribadi keterbatasan ruang tersebut merupakan karakteristik utama bagi ruang itu sendiri sedangkan pada ruang publik yang memiliki berbagai macam aktivitas harus dapat menampung berbagai aktivitas di dalamnya. Untuk itulah perlu dilakukan kajian mengenai ruang publik terhadap permasalahan keterbatasan ruang yang sering ditemui. Tulisan ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan melakukan pendekatan kajian literatur. Ada beberapa literatur yang diambil dari beberapa ahli serta beberapa hasil penelitian dalam artikel jurnal untuk mendukung teori dan melihat kenyataan di lapangan. Pada akhir tulisan diambil suatu kesimpulan bahwa keterbatasan ruang publik terhadap berbagai macam aktivitas yang berlangsung di dalamnya dengan terbentuknya ruang bersama baik secara permanen maupun bergantian (waktu tertentu).Kata-kata Kunci: arsitektur, ruang publik, aktivitas, ruang bersamaURBAN PUBLIC SPACE STUDIES BETWEEN ACTIVITIES AND LIMITATIONSThe essence of space is a place where humans live and doing their activities. But not all activities can be accommodated because space is limited by their functions. For private space, space limitations are the main characteristics for space itself, while in public spaces that have various kinds of activities must be able to accommodate multiple activities in it. For this reason, a study of public space needs to be done on the problems of space limitations that are often encountered. This paper uses qualitative methods by conducting a literature review approach. There is some literature taken from several experts and several research results in the journal for support the theory and see the reality in the field. AbstractMukbang is a Korean livestream where a host eats while interacting with viewers. The eater ‘speaks’ to the viewers while eating and the viewers ‘type’ to each other and to the eater through a live chat room. Using interactional sociolinguistics along with insights from conversation analysis (CA) studies, the present study examines how sociable eating is jointly and multimodally achieved in mukbang. Analyzing sixty-seven mukbang clips, I find that mukbang participants coordinate their actions through speech, written text, and embodied acts, and that this coordination creates involvement and, by extension, establishes both community and social agency. Specifically, recruitments are the basic joint action of eating, as participants, who are taking turns, assume footings of the recruit and the recruiter. The host embodies viewers’ text recruitments through embodied animating and puppeteering. As in street performance, the viewers often offer voluntary donations, and the host shows entertaining gratitude in response.
