Stassen’s failure to win the Republican nomination for president in June 1948 did not quench his thirst for high office. Robert T. McCracken, chairman of the University of Pennsylvania’s Board of Trustees, offered Stassen the university presidency in July, and the board elected him on September 17, 1948. The enthusiasm he aroused among college students as a Republican candidate convinced him that higher education had always been in the forefront of his ambitions. Stassen saw himself in the same light as Eisenhower, who had accepted the presidency of Columbia University. As the president of a prestigious Ivy League university, he could ensure his prominence in national affairs. For four years, Stassen walked a delicate line between his university obligations and his political ambitions. Inevitably, he had to confront criticism over his extracurricular activities. However, the possibility of a cabinet appointment in a Dewey administration became irrelevant when President Truman won the election in November.

No  mundo  atual,  a  universidade  tem  um  papel  crucial  na  formação  de cidadãos capazes de inovar. A criatividade surge, assim, como um conceito a valorizar  no  ensino  superior,  mas  tal  valorização  implica  alterações  no quotidiano  educativo.  Uma  fonte  de  informação  relevante  para  a rentabilizações  das  competências  criativas  nos  alunos  universitários  é auscultar  o  que  estes  pensam  sobre  elas.  Neste  sentido,  a  partir  do questionário  "Universidade  e  Competências  Criativas",  foram  analisadas perceções de 582 estudantes de uma universidade portuguesa acerca da conceituação e da valorização de criatividade no contexto académico. As percepções foram analisadas em função da área curricular de formação e do género, encontrando-se diferenças estatisticamente significativas para ambas as  variáveis.  Os  resultados  permitem  reflexões  no  sentido  de aprofundamentos futuros deste estudo, assim como apontam direções para cuidados e reforços a ter nas práticas educativas neste nível de ensino.Palavras-chave: Criatividade; Ensino Superior; Estudantes universitários; Perceções ABSTRACTIn today's world, the University has a crucial role in the education of citizens in order to innovate. Creativity is thus a concept to value in higher education, but that valuation implies changes in the educational practices. A relevant source of information in order to promote creative skills in college students is to gather what they think about those skills. Through the questionnaire "University and Creative Skills" the perceptions of 582 Portuguese university students about the conceptualization and valorization of creativity in the academic contexts were analyzed. The perceptions were analyzed according to the students curriculum area and gender. Data suggest significant statistical differences in function  of  both  variables.  The  results  allow  reflections  towards  further developments of this study but also point directions to reinforce deliberate educational practices in this level of education.Keywords:Creativity; Higher Education; College students; Perceptions

The article considers the possibilities of developing marketing interaction of higher education organizations with stakeholders using digital marketing tools and technologies. The study presents an overview of the University stakeholder groups in Russia and their classification according to the quadrants of influence. The author provides the tools and means of digital marketing communications in the context of stakeholder groups and the prospects for their use for organizing marketing communicative interaction of the University. The paper studies in detail the possibilities of developing marketing interaction between the university and students on the basis of modeling the student’s experience on the path of his movement from the applicant to the graduate.The presented student experience includes six main stages, including the search for a University for admission; submission of documents and enrollment; educational and extracurricular activities; graduation and graduation; employment; career development. The author highlights within each stage of the student’s experience the main points of contact with the University. The paper presents opportunities for the development of marketing interaction between the University and students through the introduction of digital tools and marketing technologies, as well as their impact on the student experience model.The article considers the possibility of developing software services as promising digital tools and technologies for use in higher education organizations, including the functional requirements for such services at the level of user requirements, including the applicant and student, as well asthe possibilities of digital marketing communications with students, including both online and offline communications.Based on the study, the author makes a conclusion about the main advantages of the development of digital tools and marketing technologies in organizing marketing interaction between the University and students, as one of the key groups of stakeholders.

Student loyalty ensures management to take better strategies to improve the performance of any institute. The purpose of this research is to examine the factors impacting student’s loyalty through an empirical investigation of Higher Education Sector of Pakistan. The data for this research was collected through questionnaires from four major private universities of Karachi: SZABIST, IQRA University, Bahria University and Institute of Business Management (IOBM) with a sample size of 380. According to the nature of data, descriptive statistic and inferential statistics (regression & correlation) was used. In this research 51.6% respondents were male followed by females which are 47.9%. Results show that, female respondents are more inclined towards a university brand name and location as compare to males. On the side, males are more concerned about the universities’ market value and faculty (teachers) as the major traits while choosing a particular university as compare to females. For universities facilities both the gender male and females have not shown much enthusiasm and interest. Moreover, program offered by the university, fee structure and extracurricular activities are not the primary focus for students (both male and females) as one of the university traits. Further the results demonstrate that, academic facilities and service attitude are highly correlated and have a great impact on student’s loyalty. Moreover, campus environment having a weaker correlation also impact’s the student’s loyalty.  Other factors like, HOD and program manager have a significantly weak correlation with student loyalty and at the same time does not produce any impact. This research responded the questions raised and welcomed a wide range of discussions for the university management to work closely for student’s welfare to enhance and maintain the student’s loyalty. The study is restricted within three HEC institutes of Karachi city only due to limited time frame and financial resources available.

Service-learning in the educational sector has shown increased impact on student lifelong learning and institutional commitment to the community over the past decade. Universities in the Philippines provide various service-learning programs for their partner communities, to address students’ understanding of real-life community needs. However, there has been little study on students’ service-learning in geriatric institutions. This article first discusses higher education in the Philippines, noting the impact of the National Service Training Program on institutions’ programs. It then describes how one university, the University of Santo Tomas, has responded to this policy framework with the development of community programs that also meet its goals for social transformation. One particular program is examined – a service-learning program involving college students and a geriatric institution in Manila. Early qualitative feedback provides an understanding of college students’ perceptions of the elderly and the service-learning implemented by the university. It also offers a strong foundation for continuing to improve the current service-learning program. From this study an 8-loop model has been developed for future evaluations of the service-learning program in this geriatric institution. This research aims at finding out the implementation formula of entrepreneurship education at the university. The searching of electronic journal articles by using database such as: JSTOR, SAGE, Proquest, Elsevier, Emerald Insigth, and Google Scholar from 2009 until the end of October 2019. The keywords: entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial and unemployment. The implementation formula of entrepreneurship education is done through the curriculum reformations and improvements, the creation of extracurricular activities and entrepreneurship programs, the empowerment of human resource development for entrepreneur lecturer (teachers), the adequacy of infrastructures and financial supports, the strengthening of cooperation with associates, the alumni empowerment and also the support of government. The implementation formula of entrepreneurship education at the university is able to shape the character, improve the habits, attitude, and the passions of the university students to be entrepreneurs and also increase the number of new entrepreneurs in Indonesia that will be a solution of intellectual unemployment problems.

Insufficient resources undermine postsecondary educational experiences and delay credit attainment for many college students (Goldrick-Rab, Baker-Smith, Coca, Looker, and Williams, 2019). To examine the efficacy of existing interventions, such as a campus food pantry, the researcher conducted a series of interviews with a cross section of volunteers, staffed leaders, and food pantry clients. The study produced 5 significant themes. 1) UCM students are balancing multiple responsibilities with a variety of stresses; 2) The Campus Cupboard clients shared an array of successful strategies for making ends meet while in college; 3) The reasons people use the Campus Cupboard vary from individual to individual; 4) Clients care about the food and services the Campus Cupboard offers as well as their experience while they are in there; 5) The volunteers and staff are the Campus Cupboard's greatest asset. They represent a variety of skills, abilities, knowledge, perspectives and resources for the cupboard and their clients. The recommendations focused on three core capacities that are critical for the Campus Cupboard. Specifically, to address the dietary struggles students face in higher education, as well as the living costs associated with schooling, this study constructs its recommendations focusing on 1) Building a culturally responsive food pantry; 2) Tailoring its outreach; and 3) Creating sustainable change.

‘Global patterns of higher education’ looks at the different types of education system globally. Although virtually every country has its own national higher education system, and each of these national systems has its own peculiarities (and most national systems contain considerable variations within them), scholars of higher education have defined a number of system types: the Humboldtian model, which emphasizes the integration of teaching and research; the ‘Napoleonic’ model of France; the Anglo-Saxon model; the US’s Ivy League and intensive research model; and an emerging Confucian model in Asia. The relationship between the state and the university and college is also considered along with the Bologna Process of international convergence.
