The study aims to find out the experiences and observations of teachers in teaching Research to Junior High School students. In particular, it wants to identify what needs to be enhanced in the research curriculum and faculty development program, particularly in terms of the knowledge and skills of research teachers and the other teachers in the junior high school department. It found out that students consider research a difficult subject that makes them less interested. Research theories and concepts appropriate for junior high school must be identified for curriculum revision. Teachers believed that they need to enhance their knowledge and skills and gain more experience in writing to become creative and confident research teachers. For teachers to be actively engaged in research, they have to be provided with training and workshops related to research and be strongly encouraged to do at least action research. The faculty development program may also include creating research mentors and the provision of opportunities for publication

186 seventh and eighth grade students were administered the Rotter Incomplete Sentences Blank: High School Form with instructions amended so that the students would be aware of the importance of supplying grammatically correct responses. Rotter protocols were scored for errors in grammar and were submitted to a school psychologist, who through clinical inspection only estimated semester language arts grades for the students. Most types of grammatical errors correlated significantly with semester grades earned in language arts class, but clinical inspection of the Rotter protocols yielded the highest correlation (.54) with the criterion. Girls earned significantly higher language arts grades than boys.

This research is aimed at finding the effectiveness of mastery learning technique on improving students' ability in completing the English National Examination. This study was done at Bimbingan Belajar Gereja HKBP Sutotoyo, Jakarta. The research method used was quantitative research with "pre and post-test design", using two groups of research subjects. The population of the study 88 students consisted of Primary School (23 people)  and Senior High School Students (62 persons), and the sample of the students was the Junior High School Students which was divided into group namely experimental group (33 persons) and control group (32 persons) which were selected using clustering sampling. The instrument of the research was a set of English Final Examination. The finding of the research is that the t-value is greater than t-table (4.323> 2,000) and the significance value is smaller than the significance level of 0.05 (0.000 <0.05). Then it is concluded that mastery learning technique significantly affects the students' ability in completing the English National Examination at Bimbingan Belajar HKBP Sutoyo, Jakarta. Opportunities abound for acrossdiscipline activities that teach children Language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies in elementary school. In middle school or junior high school, where school subjects are departmentalized, the opportunities to give students experiences that integrate skills in the different disciplines are diminished. The Television Programming Challenge was designed for junior high school students to show applications of mathematics in the real world. It was piloted with sixty-four students in grades 7 and 8 as part of the Saturday Science Series at California State University, Fullerton. These presentations are made in mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, and biology to selected students from local schools. Each presentation lasts three hours, from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon.
