Aim. To study the phenotypic polymorphism of Trifolium repens L. populations growing under various anthropogenic load. Methods. The quantitative calculation of the leaves of the white clover by the presence or absence of the white leaf mark; the identification of the phenotype and genotype of the plant according to the pattern of the white leaf mark; the analysis of the phenotypic diversity and the study of the percentage of rare phenotypes; the calculation of the index of the phenotypes ratio. Results. 4 phenotypes were identified in the pasture area. The most common of them were the plants without the white mark with a frequency of 56.2 %. The plants with a full spot accounted for 27.5 %, with a spot with a gap – 15.4 %, with a central spot – 2.2 %. Heterozygous plants were absent. In the central part of the city, 7 genotypes were identified. Among these genotypes there were the significant decrease of the recessive homozygotes (by 43.6 %) and the increase of the frequency of VV (by 15.2 %) and VHVH (by 21.2 %) genotypes. Heterozygotes accounted for 1.3–3.0 %. The intrapopulation diversity in this territory was the highest (5.1) among the studied areas. In the population growing near Ternopil-Lanivtsi road, we identified 6 genotypes. The plants without spot (vv) and with the full spot (VV) were found with identical frequency of 34–35 %. The plants with a full high spot (VHVH) were about 20.4 %. Other phenotypes amounted to 10 %. Conclusions. In the populations located in ecologically polluted and anthropogenically loaded areas, the sets of alleles expand and the specific phenotypes appear under the influence of the mutation processes and natural selection. In the population without the anthropogenic load the decrease of the polymorphism and the increase of the frequency of individual genotypes (vv, VV) were observed. Aim. The peculiarities of morphogenetic polymorphism of Trifolium repens L. in the pattern of white marking on a leaf on the territory of the city Sumy with a different anthropogenic load. Methods. Collection of leafs was carried out in 2018 during the period of mass flowering of plants from the test sites covered with T. repens L. up to 60%, located in geographically distant territories of various neighborhoods of the city. Identification of drawings of white marking on a leaf  was carried out according to the method of I.T. Paponova and P.Ya. Schwartzman, using the tables of J.L. Briubecker. Results. In the total sample of T. repens L. collected from territories of the city with a different anthropogenic load, 16 phenotypes and 14 genotypes, formed by a series of 7 alleles of gen V, were revealed. In specimens most often there are wild phenotypes. Among the mutant phenotypes dominate heterozygotes and are detected in the phenotype as double stains. The greatest variety of phenotypes is established on the territories of urban parks, the smallest – on the roadside and lawns of the highway. Conclusions. The phenotypic variability of T. repens L. on the territory of the city with a different anthropogenic stress indicates polymorphism of life strategies that allows maintaining a high adaptive potential in the local populations of the species. Keywords: phenotypic and genotypic polymorphism, Тrifolium  repens L., white marking on a leaf, anthropogenic load.

Üvegházi körülmények között savanyú barna erdotalajban nevelt fehér here (Trifolium repens L.) növények rizoszférájának sókezelés hatására bekövetkezo változását ellenoriztük. Megvizsgáltuk a különbözo sókoncentrációknak (0, 0,2, 0,4, 0,6 és 0,8 tömeg %) a baktériumnépesség összetételére és a különbözo talajenzimek aktivitására gyakorolt hatását.  Megállapítottuk, hogy a talaj sótartalma közvetlenül befolyásolta a rizoszférában található fluoreszkáló pszeudomonaszok csíraszámát. A legsurubb populáció a 0,2% NaCl-ot tartalmazó talajban volt mérheto, ahol a fluoreszkáló pszeudomonaszok között a Pseudomonas putida és a P. fluorescens fordultak elo a legnagyobb számban. A pszeudomonaszok ily módon jól tolerálják a talaj magas NaCl-tartalmát, és gyökérkolonizáló tevékenységet képesek kifejteni a magas NaCl-tartalmú talajban is. A sókoncentráció növelésével kezdetben (a 0,2-0,4%-os tartományban) jelentosen növekedett a dehidrogenáz, kataláz, és ureáz enzimek aktivitása. A proteáz enzimek aktivitásmaximuma a 0,1-0,2% NaCl-koncentráció tartományba esett. A 0,4%-nál magasabb koncentrációkban a kontrollhoz hasonló mértékure csökkent mind a négy enzim aktivitása, és a baktériumok száma is. A foszfatáz- és a b-glükozidáz-tevékenység viszont a NaCl-dózis növelése következtében a koncentrációval arányosan, jelentosen csökkent a kontrollhoz viszonyítva.  Feltételezésünk szerint az enzimaktivitások változását is a sókezelés hatására bekövetkezo mikrobióta összetételének megváltozása okozta.

Heavy metals are among the most widespread pollutants in soil. Phytoextraction technology is used to solve the problem of multi-metal-contaminated soil. The efficiency of this process can be increased by introducing various amendments. A soil amendment is any material added to a soil to improve its physical properties, such as water retention, permeability, water infiltration, drainage, aeration, and structure. Some chemical amendments for enhanced phytoextraction, such as amino polycarboxylates chelators, can be hazardous to the environment and perform poorly at pH > 8. The effect of the potassium salt of hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid (K2HEDP), plant growth regulators (PGRs), and iron chelate alone and in combination on the phytoextraction by Trifolium repens L. seedlings of Cd, Ni, and Cu was studied in this work. K2HEDP works in a wider pH range. The results of this study confirmed that amino polycarboxylate chelators, with the sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (Na2EDTA) as an example, have a pronounced negative effect on the growth and development (organ mass) of Trifolium repens L. seedlings. K2HEDP, proposed by the authors instead of Na2EDTA, produced a pronounced positive effect on plant growth and development, which was further enhanced by the use of PGRs and with iron chelates. However, it should be noted that K2HEDP showed significantly lower efficiency in trials on the Trifolium repens L. seedlings. The highest was the efficiency of K2HEDP with PGRs and iron chelates for the phytoextraction of Cd.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of including alfalfa (ALF, Medicago sativa L.) or a combination of white (Trifolium repens L.) and red (Trifolium pretense L.) clovers (CLVR) inter-seeded into bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon L. Pers.) on herbage nutritive value compared with monocultures of bermudagrass fertilised with 0 (0N), 56 (56N), or 112 (112N) kg nitrogen (N)/ha over four grazing seasons. In autumn, at the end of the fourth year and in the spring before the fifth grazing season, alfalfa and clover plants were killed and the carryover N benefit of CLVR or ALF was compared with N fertilisation rates during the fifth year. Across years, N fertilisation rate increased herbage mass and carrying capacity linearly; whereas herbage production from CLVR and ALF swards was equivalent to 56N, were greater than 0N and less than 112N. Herbage mass in CLVR and ALF swards was greater than fertilised bermudagrass swards in the spring and did not differ from fertilised bermudagrass in the early summer. In late summer herbage accumulation of CLVR and ALF swards appeared to decrease, limiting the herbage mass in the legume pastures compared with 56N and 112N. Carrying capacity of CLVR and ALF swards was greater than fertilised bermudagrass in the spring and early summer, but did not differ from fertilised swards in the late summer. The N benefit of including legumes in bermudagrass swards can alleviate the reliance on synthetic N fertilisation with little overall effect on pasture carrying capacity.
