This research paper presents organization of the business environment for work with geographic information systems (GIS) which are based on open source. The solution is completely open source: operating system, working environment and supporting apps. The architecture consists of: server, workstations, mobile devices and sensors. Software packages for each architecture segment will be displayed. The goal is to achieve a complete business environment for work with open source GIS, thus minimizing the costs of system development and maintenance. The illustrated example shows the possibility of applying GIS within a forestry company, in the field of wildfire monitoring and data collection and registering the possibility of wildfire occurrence using IoT.

There has been a significant development in the area of free and open source geospatial software. Research has flourished over the decades from vendor-dependent software to open source software where researchers are paying increasing attention to maximize the value of their data. It is often a difficult task to choose particular open source GIS (OGIS) software among a number of emerging OGIS software. It is important to characterise the projects according to some unified criteria. Each software has certain advantages and disadvantages and it is always time consuming to identify exactly which software to select for a specific purpose. This chapter focuses on the assessment criteria enabling developers, researchers, and GIS users to select suitable OGIS software to meet their requirements for analysis and design of geospatial application in multidisciplinary fields. This chapter highlights the importance of assessment criteria, followed by an explanation of each criteria and their significance with examples from existing OGIS software.

Compared with the traditional electric-powered wheelchair, people are paying more attention on intelligent wheelchair. While the traditional intelligent wheelchair relays on separate designed control system, it is not good for general use. In that case, ROS provides an easy to use framework for rapid system development so that the researchers can develop various software packages to meet their needs, and we can also call each other packages without considering the compatibility problems. In this paper, we present a ROS (Robot Operating System) based intelligent wheelchair with the function of voice-control navigation. Compared with the traditional navigation, the voice-control navigation is more human. Obviously, ROS increases the versatility of system and reduces the cost. In order to prove the advancement and feasibility of this developed system, some experimental results are given in the paper.

The UN Open GIS Initiative is to identify and develop, under UN guidance, an Open Source GIS bundle that meets the requirements of UN operations, taking full advantage of the expertise of mission partners (partner nations, technology contributing countries, international organizations, academia, NGO’s, private sector). The project, started in 2016, is composed by 4 working groups. <br><br> One of the working group is specifically related to Capacity Building, given its importance for the success of the project. <br><br> UN Open GIS will be based on some existing open source geospatial software (packages and libraries) with many extensions specifically developed. The users of the platform will be the UN staff supporting with mapping and GIS the peacekeeping missions. Therefore, they are generally expert of this specific domain, even if they are currently using proprietary software. UN Open GIS Capacity Building is specifically thought for covering this gap, providing them the suitable background about open source geospatial software in general and the education tailored to the solution that has been being developed within the project itself.

AbstractThis chapter describes and compares suitable software for the analysis of basic and advanced discrete choice models. Software packages are classified into proprietary and non-proprietary, according to the operating system required and modelling capabilities. Abilities of both selected commercial (Stata, SAS and Latent Gold, e.g.) and open-source packages (Biogeme and R-libraries) are considered. Finally, some user-written estimation packages for Gauss, Matlab, R and Stata are presented.

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware, and key applications. Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices based on the Linux operating system and developed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google-developed Java libraries but does not support programs developed in native code. The unveiling of the Android platform on 5 November 2007 was announced with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 34 hard-ware, software and telecom companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. When released in 2008, most of the Android platform will be made available under the Apache free-software and open-source license.

Android is one of the famous mobile operating system created by Google company. Advantages of the android operating system itself is to provide an open platform (open source) for developers to create their own millions of applications that will be used for a wide range of mobile devices (mobile devices). Needs of information technology is developing rapidly. Mobile even more Smartphone is one of the means used to obtain information more quickly and accurately, as well as being tools needed in various fields. Especially when you're enjoying a holiday somewhere and need information right away, of course it was very helpful in finding such information. While on vacation in a place we definitely want to taste the culinary place and it has become a lifestyle in today. That's what we call the culinary tour. Culinary tourism itself is an action done a lot of people in the field of dietary needs, for entertainment. Based on application compatibility testing Nyapek culinary tourism in the city of Bogor based on Android can run optimally and display interface on the phone with Minimal OS v5.0 (Lollipop) with a 5-inch screen

This study report is aimed at identifying opportunities and challenges in developing a completely free and opensource mobile operating system based on AOSP. In this report, I describe the installation of LineageOS on a OnePlus One mobiledevice. I first describe the installation of a pre-built LineageOS image to the device, andthen I explain how i compiled the available source to build my own LineageOS image forthe device. Source compilation provides a more complete understanding of device-level OSbuilds. I also discuss various alternatives to Google Mobile Services. All the available alternative services are in the development stage. A promising approach is the reverse engineering mi-croG project, which is a free and open source re-implementation of Google Mobile Services. Such alternatives to Google’s services, meaning client-side free and open source applications and libraries, provide an excellent base upon which can build completely free and opensource background services as well as applications on mobile devices.

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the collaboration our university has developed between the AIS and MIS programs. We include learning objectives for the overall learning objectives of our integrated program, suggestions for collaboration, and the courses addressing the identified objectives. The authors have found that using software tools can improve collaboration across departments can add to the learning experience in both the accounting and MIS programs. AIS instructors can use software tools to demonstrate how control requirements are implemented within information systems. MIS instructors can use software tools to provide explanations and examples of program structures and data structures used in information systems. Instructors with training in ERP systems can use software tools to add valuable perspective in discussions of scalability, multiple currencies, conversion of measuring units, and automation of business processes. Tools which are used to support instruction can also be used to enable collaboration between faculty members. When group projects are used to teach information system development, additional collaboration tools can be included to give students experience in working within a workgroup environment. The authors discuss their experience in the use of software packages and collaboration tools to better prepare our students to succeed in the challenging business environment of audit and IT professionals.
