In order to deeply understand the characteristics of the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control method, its mathematical models were established in the two-phase stationary coordinate system, the two-phase synchronous rotating coordinate system, and x-y stator synchronous rotating coordinate system. The implementation process of direct torque control method in varied stator winding connection was analyzed in detail. In order to improve the speed and torque performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, the direct torque control block diagram and the space voltage vector selection table were given. Finally, the summary and outlook of reducing torque ripple in the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control methods.

With the development of AC (alternating current )technique, larger power PMSM ( permanent m- agnet synchronous motor ) has been applied in the marine electric propulsion systems. In this paper the imple- mentation of the DTC (direct torque control) systems for a variable-speed 4088kW PMSM in ship electric propulsion systems has been studied. A novel control method using SVPWM (space vector pulse width mo- dulation) was proposed and a SVPWM module was designed. Then a DTC – SVPWM simulation model of PMSM with the load of propeller was found. The simulation results shows that the variable frequency speed regulation system have good response performance in the process of the motor start or speedup and through comparing the simulation results with the experiment data of the PMSM, the validity of the model is verified.

Direct Torque Control (DTC) has emerged over the last two decades as a suitable alternative to the well-known Field Oriented Control (FOC) or vector control technique for electric drives mainly due to its simple control scheme, low computational time and reduced parameter sensitivity. In this paper, speed control of an induction machine based on DTC strategy has been developed and a comprehensive study is presented. The performance of the control method has been demonstrated by simulations using the Matlab/Simulink software package. Several numerical simulations have been carried out in steady state and transient operations.

<p>This study presents a performance analysis of two most popular control strategies for Induction Motor (IM) drives: direct torque control (DTC) and space vector modulation (SVM) strategies. The performance analysis is done by applying field-orientation control (FOC) technique because of its good dynamic response. The theoretical principle, simulation results are discussed to study the dynamic performances of the drive system for individual control strategies using actual parameters of induction motor. A closed loop PI controller scheme has been used. The main purpose of this study is to minimize ripple in torque response curve and to achieve quick speed response as well as to investigate the condition for optimum performance of induction motor drive. Depending on the simulation results this study also presents a detailed comparison between direct torque control and space vector modulation based field-orientation control method for the induction motor drive.</p>

According to the analysis of mathematical model for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), direct torque control(DTC) technology is introduced to the control system of PMSM. The paper builds dual-closed loop control system of PMSM, and the outer loop is speed loop, the inner loop is flux and torque loop, at the same time, the paper makes simulation in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that the DTC technology significantly improves the dynamic performances of PMSM, and the control system is no overshoot, and has small flux response comparing with the conventional control methods of PMSM. So the application of DTC technology in PMSM provides a new thoughtful way for PMSM control system designing and debugging in actual application.
