Aim: To investigate the effect of KCl and KClO3 as sources of potassium in aerobic rice with four types of split doses and two levels of foliar applications of potassium. Study Design: The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Place and Duration of Study: Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute, Karaikal, Puducherry. Methodology : The rice variety PMK 4 was tested with two sources of potassium viz., Potassium chloride (KCl) and Potassium chlorate (KClO3), four types of split application viz., K control (S1), basal with no split (S2), two splits (S3) and three splits (S4) along with foliar application treatments viz., no foliar (F1) and foliar spray (F2). Results: The results of a field experiment revealed that the two splits of potassium increased the available P at the active tillering stage and harvest stage. Whereas, three splits increased the available P at panicle imitation and flowering stage. The KCl recorded higher available P at panicle initiation and harvest stages. The high phosphorus uptake was recorded in panicle initiation and flowering stages by three splits application of potassium. In grain also, especially the three splits through KClO3 recorded higher P uptake. Conclusion: The split applications tested in this investigation influenced the available phosphorus status in soil and phosphorus uptake. Increase in splits of potassium increased the P uptake. This result is in agreement with the results of Mitra et al. [1] who observed a significant increase in the uptake of N, P, K and S by increased level of K in Kharif rice.

Objective of this study was to examine and evaluate the role of different rates of salicylic acid (SA) as foliar spray on growth and yield performance of BRRI dhan29. The experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh from November, 2016 to May, 2017 following a randomized complete block design with five rates of SA in six replications. The results showed that the lower rate of SA (upto 0.75 mM) has a positive effect on rice biomass production including effective tiller per hill, filled grain per panicle, grain yield and straw yield. The highest dry matter production at both maximum tillering and panicle initiation stages was found at SA spray rate of 0.5 mM. The highest number of effective tillers per hill (14.7) as well as the highest filled grain (120.4) and grain yield (8.1 t/ha) were found at SA rate of 0.75 mM. However, the maximum biomass production was obtained at SA rate of 0.25 mM. The minimum grain yield (7.0 t/ha) was observed in the control treatment.

The experiment was conducted at field experiment of Lampung State Polytechnic from June up to November 2012, using complete randomized block design with factorial pattern, which consists of two factors, and three replications. The first factor is organic matter (POME) dosage, consists of three dosages (without POME, 25% POME with 75% soil, and 50% POME with 50% soil). The second factor is dosage of SP-36 Fertilizer (without SP-36, 1.8 g, 3.6 g, and 5.4 g SP-36 per polybag (plant) respectively. The study aims was to determine (1) The dynamics of soil available P, (2) The effect of the best POME dosage for pH, C-organic and P uptake, (3) The effect of the best SP-36 dosage for pH, C-organic and P uptake, (4) The interaction between dosages of POME and SP-36 on pH, C-organic and P uptake of plant. The observation consists of (a) Soil available P, (b) pH and C-organic (c) and P uptake of plant. The data was analysis with variance analysis, furthermore, if the result is significance, was continued with LSD test, but soil available P dynamics was presented in graphic form. The result showed that (a) Applications of POME and SP-36 increase the soil available P, (b) The media with 25% POME and 50% POME were gave the better result on pH, C-organic and P uptake by plant, (c) SP-36 fertilizer fertilizer at various doses has not been any impact on soil pH, organic-C and P uptake of plants (d) There is no interaction between POME and SP-36 fertilizer on soil pH, organic C and P uptake of plants Keywords : P Dynamics, P Uptake of Patchouli, Pogostemon cablin, ultisols

A gradual increase of phosphorus (P) concentrations in combination with organic and mineral fertilizers was applied to clayey soils at six precise experimental field sites with different climatic conditions within the Czech Republic. Soil samples were collected after the harvest of barley. Readily available P concentrations were determined using water and 0.01M CaCl<sub>2</sub> extractions, mobile phosphate contents were determined using the extraction procedures Mehlich 3 and Olsen. Furthermore, P uptake by barley plants was assessed. All selected procedures showed that increasing concentrations of applied P increased the mobile and readily available P contents in soils. Phosphorus uptake by barley plants ranged between 9.00 and 14.5 kg/ha and increased P application resulted in increased P concentrations in plants. Statistical analyses were performed using the Spearman test. The closest relationship was obtained for P uptake by plants and the water extraction (<i>r</i> = 0.81). Significant relationships were also obtained for plant uptake and the Mehlich 3 and CaCl<sub>2</sub> methods (<i>r</i> = 0.40 and 0.36, respectively). There was no statistical dependence between P uptake and the Olsen method (<i>r</i> = 0.25). Regression analysis was expressed best as linear regression. The closest relationship was found for water extracts and P uptake by plants (with a determination coefficient of 65%). Determination coefficients for P uptake and other methods used were significantly lower (max. 20%).

Rice husk biochar and compost application are expected to improve soil chemical properties such as pH, organic carbon, and available P in Ultisol, which in turn improves crop growth and P uptake by plants. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of the combination of rice husk biochar and compost on the soil chemical properties (pH, organic carbon, and available P), maize growth, and P uptake by maize in an Ultisol. The research used a Randomized Block Design with six treatments (P0: control; P1: 4 t biochar ha-1; P2: 30 t compost ha-1; P3: 4 t biochar ha-1 and 30 t compost ha-1; P4: 8 t biochar ha-1 and 30 t compost ha-1; P5: 4 t biochar ha-1 and 60 t compost ha-1) and four replications. The result showed that the combination of 8 t rice husk biochar ha-1 and 30 t compost ha-1 showed a significant effect on increasing pH, organic carbon, and available P in an Ultisol, increasing the height of maize crops at 4 and 6 WAP (weeks after planting). However, it had no effect on the number of leaves and showed an effect on the increase in P uptake of maize crop.

Background: The improvement in livestock productivity may be possible by availing better quality fodder in adequate quantity to the dairy farmers. Zinc deficiency might be a major factor for lower quality fodder of cowpea. Methods: The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design; comprised of three cowpea cultivars viz., C-152, MFC-08-14 and MFC-09-1 and five zinc management practices viz., control; 10 kg ZnSO4 as basal; 20 kg ZnSO4 as basal; 0.5% ZnSO4 as foliar spray at 20 DAS; 0.5% ZnSO4 as foliar spray at 20 and 40 DAS. Result: Results revealed that C-152 showed significantly better quality in terms of higher dry matter, crude protein and total ash; and lower acid insoluble ash, neutral detergent fibre, acid detergent fibre and acid detergent lignin amongst all the three varieties. Though, remarkably higher ether extract was obtained with MFC-08-14. Among the zinc management practices, 20 kg ZnSO4 as basal (Zn3) and foliar application of 0.5% ZnSO4 at 20 and 40 DAS (Zn5) recorded significant improvement in fodder yield and quality traits of cowpea.

Abstract The research aims to find the effect of biofilm biofertilizer formula and dose of organic fertilizer on phosphorus uptake and yield of shallot on Vertisols. The research was arranged in a completely randomized block design with two factors: dosage of organic fertilizer (0, 10, 20-ton ha-1) and the formula of biofilm biofertilizer (without BiO2, BiO2 1, BiO2 2, BiO2 3). Variables observed are available-P, P-uptake, bulb number, and bulb weight. Data were analyzed using F test followed by DMRT at α = 0.05. The result shows that 20-ton ha-1 organic fertilizer decomposed with biofilm biofertilizer yield highest P-uptake and plant dry weight which increases 322 and 216 % to control treatment (0.50 and 1.26 g plant-1). The use of 10-ton ha-1 of organic fertilizer yield highest bulb number and weight i.e 5.58 bulbs plant-1 and 116 g plant-1 increase 27 and 172% compared to the control. The BiO2 formula only affected to the plant height, and the use of formula 1 able to increase the plant height about 13.5% compared to control treatment.

Field Study on Nutrient uptake and Physico – chemical properties of soil influenced by organic and inorganic packages in rice was carried out at Research Cum Instructional Farm IGKV., Raipur (C.G.) during kharif 2010 and 2011. The soil of experimental field was ‘Inceptisols’ (Matasi), which was low in nitrogen, medium in available phosphorus and potassium. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication. The treatments consisted of Basmati type rice variety viz. Kasturi Comprising organic, inorganic and integrated nutrient management. Treatment T1 (50% RDF + 50% N (CDM), T2 (100% N((1/3 rd each CDM +NC+CCR) T3 (100% N (1/3 rd each CDM + NC + CCR) + Green manure in rice), T4 100% N (1/3 rd each CDM + NC + CCR) +Deep summer ploughing), T5 (50% N(CDM)+RP+PSB+Azos.), T6 (100%N(1/3 rd each CDM+NC+CCR) + Azos.+ PSB) and T7 (100% RDF).among different nutrient management practiceshigher nutrient uptake in grain and straw were observed under treatment T7(100% RDF).followed by T1 (50% RDF + 50% N (CDM) an INM treatment.whereas water uptake was exceeding in100% N applied through 1/3 rd each CDM + NC + CCR + Green manure in rice. Bulk density, pH and EC were also exceeds in T7, except T6 (100% N CDM + NC + CCR + Azos + PSB) which has higher OC.

A field investigation was carried out to study the influence of zinc and iron micronutrients on the performance of rainfed castor, in Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Telangana state, India for three consecutive years during kharif 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. There were nine treatments viz., Control (no micronutrient application); soil application of FeSO4 @ 15 kg ha-1; soil application of FeSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1; soil application of ZnSO4 @ 15 kg ha-1; soil application of ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1; foliar application of 0.5% FeSO4 at 50 DAS; foliar application of 0.5% FeSO4 at 50 and 90 DAS; foliar application of 0.5% ZnSO4 at 50 DAS; foliar application of 0.5% ZnSO4 at 50 and 90 DAS and tested in randomized block design with three replications. The foliar application of ZnSO4 (0.5%) twice at 50 and 90 DAS resulted in significantly higher seed yield (1698 kg ha-1), higher gross returns (Rs. 54344 ha-1), net returns (Rs. 33501 ha-1) and B:C ratio (2.60) over rest of the treatments. The seed yield improvement was to the tune of 54% over no micronutrient application. The uptake of major and micronutrients was greater when the crop received two sprays of ZnSO4 as compared to one spray of ZnSO4, two sprays of FeSO4 and soil application of either of the micronutrients. The castor bean crop responded to Zn better than Fe by producing 10.2% to 12.2% higher seed yield. Foliar spray was found superior to soil application in case of both the micronutrients.

NPK compound fertilizer has the capability to improve the quality and yield of plants, but longterm application may have some effects towards soil chemical property. This study aims to find out the effect of the combination of NPK (16:16:16) and Liquid Organic Fertilizer from fish waste towards soil pH, available P, P uptake, and yield baby bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on Inceptisols from Jatinangor. The experiment was conducted in October 2015 until January 2016 at Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang regency, West Java. Randomized Block Design (RBD consisted of 8 treatments and repeated three times were applied in this research. The treatments were: control (0), 1 and 0,5 dose of NPK compund fertilizer, and 0,5; 1; 1,5 doses of liquid organic fertilizer from fish waste. Significant result were detected between combinations of NPK  compound fertlizer and liquid organic fertilizer from fish waste on pH, available-P, P uptake, and yield of Baby beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on Inceptisols.

Nusantara Bioscience 10: 146-150. Despite the abundant amount of phosphorus (P) in the soil, P uptake by the plants is very limited. In acidic soil, phosphorus (P) is bound to aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe), whereas in the alkaline soil, phosphorus (P) is bound to calcium (Ca). The improvement of efficiency and availability of P to plants can be made by utilizing a group of solubilizing phosphate microorganisms. Potency test to investigate the P solubility by Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) has been conducted by isolating the bacteria from peat soil at Biosphere Reserves of Giam Siak Kecil Bukit Batu, Riau, Indonesia. The semi-quantitative test revealed that the PSB were able to dissolve Ca3 (PO4)2, FePo4 and phosphate rock. However, the adaptation ability and potency of PSB from indigenous Riau peat soil inoculated into soybean (Glycine max L. Merr) plants in the mineral soil have not yet been investigated. The present study was carried out from March to June 2015 on the alluvial soil in Babussalam Village, Rambah Sub-district, Rokan Hulu District, Riau. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of PSB inoculation on bacterial population and phosphatase activity. The study also aimed to determine the available P and P uptake and their impact on soybean growth and production. The study employed a factorial experiment laid out in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisted of two factors, i.e., soil treatment and PSB. The first factor comprised of two levels, i.e., T0: non-sterilized soil, T1: sterilized soil. The second factor consisted of 4 levels, i.e., B0: without PSB inoculation, B1: inoculation using 2 isolates of PSB (BB_UB6 and BB_K9), B2: inoculation using 3 isolates of PSB (BB_UB6, BB_K9 and BB_K2), and B3: inoculation using 4 isolates of PSB (BB_UB6, BB_K9, BB_K2, and BB_HS13). The results showed that inoculation of starter 3 had the highest phosphatase activity rate of 12.43 μg p NP g-1 hour-1. The highest available P was produced by starter 2, while the P uptake on non-sterilized soil was higher than that on the sterilized soil at 2.63 mg plant-1. PSB inoculation and soil sterilization did not significantly affect the population of phosphate solubilizing bacteria.
