The human brain at rest exhibits intrinsic dynamics transitioning among the multiple metastable states of the inter-regional functional connectivity. Accordingly, the demand for exploring the state-specific functional connectivity increases for a deeper understanding of mental diseases. Functional connectivity, however, lacks information about the directed causal influences among the brain regions, called effective connectivity. This study presents the dynamic causal modeling (DCM) framework to explore the state-dependent effective connectivity using spectral DCM for the resting-state functional MRI (rsfMRI). We established the sequence of brain states using the hidden Markov model with the multivariate autoregressive coefficients of rsfMRI, summarizing the functional connectivity. We decomposed the state-dependent effective connectivity using a parametric empirical Bayes scheme that models the effective connectivity of consecutive windows with the time course of the discrete states as regressors. We showed the plausibility of the state-dependent effective connectivity analysis in a simulation setting. To test the clinical applicability, we applied the proposed method to characterize the state- and subtype-dependent effective connectivity of the default mode network in children with combined-type attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD-C) compared with age-matched, typically developed children (TDC). All 88 children were subtyped according to the occupation times (i.e., dwell times) of the three dominant functional connectivity states, independently of clinical diagnosis. The state-dependent effective connectivity differences between ADHD-C and TDC according to the subtypes and those between the subtypes of ADHD-C were expressed mainly in self-inhibition, magnifying the importance of excitation inhibition balance in the subtyping. These findings provide a clear motivation for decomposing the state-dependent dynamic effective connectivity and state-dependent analysis of the directed coupling in exploring mental diseases.

The objective of this thesis is to provide a simulations-free approximation to the price of multivariate derivatives and for the calculation of risk measures like Value at Risk (VaR). The first chapters are dedicated to the pricing of multivariate derivatives. In particular we focus on multivariate derivatives under switching regime Markov models. We consider the cases of two and three states of the switching regime Markov model, and derive analytic expressions for the first and second order moments of the occupation times of the continuous-time Markov process. Then we use these expressions to provide approximations for the derivative prices based on Taylor expansions. We compare our closed form approximations with Monte Carlo simulations. In the last chapter we also provide a simulations-free approximation for the VaR under a switching regime model with two states. We compare these VaR estimations with those obtained using Monte Carlo.

In this paper, we give a complete and succinct proof that an explicit formula for the occupation time holds for all Lévy processes, which is important to the pricing problems of various occupation-time-related derivatives such as step options and corridor options. We construct a sequence of Lévy processes converging to a given Lévy process to obtain our conclusion. Besides financial applications, the mathematical results about occupation times of a Lévy process are of interest in applied probability.

<p>Because of the inclined-orbit of GNSS constellations that are not cover the Polar Regions, the polar gaps occur between certain latitudes and therefore in these regions the satellite observations are limited around the zenith direction. In addition, from summer to winter season, the daylight and weather conditions vary tremendously in the Polar Regions. In the context of this study, the PPP accuracy performance was tested as a function of winter and summer seasons, GPS-only and GPS&GLONASS constellations, PPP-AR and PPP-Float solution strategies, static and kinematic processing modes, varying occupation times (1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, 12h and daily), and increasing latitudes towards the South Pole at the OHI3, ROTH, MCM4, and AMU2 GNSS stations in the Antarctica continent. Besides, the effect of the ambiguity solution strategies and the used constellations in the process on PPP convergence time was also examined. In the assessment results of the study, it was revealed that the PPP-AR strategy, additional GLONASS system to GPS constellation, and increased occupation times improved the static and kinematic positioning accuracy. Besides, although similar accuracies were obtained in both seasons, the position accuracy was slightly better in winter. Regarding the investigation on convergence time, the PPP-AR solution using the GPS&GLONASS constellations improved the convergence time by 66% comparing to the GPS-only PPP-Float solution. Finally, according to the assessment of the PPP-AR accuracy performance depending on the increasing latitude towards the South Pole, it has been observed that the 2D position accuracy remained stable for three stations except for AMU2. Besides, the vertical position accuracy decreased as it approaches the South Pole and the GLONASS system contributed to the improvement of the accuracy.</p>

We consider a continuous-time random walk which is the generalization, by means of the introduction of waiting periods on sites, of the one-dimensional non-homogeneous random walk with a position-dependent drift known in the mathematical literature as Gillis random walk. This modified stochastic process allows to significantly change local, non-local and transport properties in the presence of heavy-tailed waiting-time distributions lacking the first moment: we provide here exact results concerning hitting times, first-time events, survival probabilities, occupation times, the moments spectrum and the statistics of records. Specifically, normal diffusion gives way to subdiffusion and we are witnessing the breaking of ergodicity. Furthermore we also test our theoretical predictions with numerical simulations.

In this paper, we study the joint Laplace transform of the sticky Brownian motion on an interval, its occupation time at zero and its integrated process. The perturbation approach of Li and Zhou [The joint Laplace transforms for diffusion occupation times, Adv. Appl. Probab. 45 (2013) 1049–1067] is adopted to convert the problem into the computation of three Laplace transforms, which is essentially equivalent to solving the associated differential equations with boundary conditions. We obtain the explicit expression for the joint Laplace transform in terms of the modified Bessel function and Airy functions.
