We show a method for Granular Synthesis Composition based on a mathematical modeling for the musical gesture. Each gesture is drawn as a curve generated from a particular mathematical model (or function) and coded as a MATLAB script. The gestures can be deterministic through defining mathematical time functions, hand free drawn, or even randomly generated. This parametric information of gestures is interpreted through OSC messages by a granular synthesizer (Granular Streamer). The musical composition is then realized with the models (scripts) written in MATLAB and exported to a graphical score (Granular Score). The method is amenable to allow statistical analysis of the granular sound streams and the final music composition. We also offer a way to create granular streams based on correlated pair of grains parameters.

Abstract Coordination complexes of collagen with copper (II) sulfate were synthesized at different ratios of the starting materials. For the synthesis, a collagen solution was used, isolated from the skin of cattle, and then freed from electrolytes by dialysis. With an increase in the salt content, the yield of the reaction product increases. The composition and structure of the complex were determined by FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, X-ray phase analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. The complex is formed due to the coordination interaction of with the nitrogen and oxygen atom of collagen and water. An inadequate change in the composition of the complexes with a change in the initial ratio of the components was found. With an excess of collagen, some of it does not bind into a complex and precipitates. With an excess of salt, almost all of the collagen is bound into a complex and a rhombic single crystal is formed. The composition of the complex changes not due to a change in the coordination number , but due to an increase in the amount of these ions. An X-ray phase analysis of the starting materials and complexes has been carried out. The correspondence of the parameters of the crystal structure in the X-ray spectra of the complexes was found for a wide ratio of the starting materials. The synthesized complexes have been successfully used for dyeing textile materials.

Cast refractory alloys Mo–Nb–Si–B were prepared by centrifugal self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) from metallothermic mixtures containing MoO3, Nb2O5, Al, Si, and B powders, and additive of Al2O3 as a temperature-moderating and chemically inert agent. Variation in the centrifugal acceleration and amount of the additive affected the composition and structure of cast Mo–Nb–Si–B alloys. In a wide range of values, the combustion temperature was found to exceed 3000 K, and the combustion products were obtained as two-layer ingots of target Mo–Nb–Si–B alloy (lower) and Al2O3 slag (upper).

Lead halide perovskites have gained more and more attention because of their ease of synthesis and excellent photoelectric properties including a large absorption coefficient, long carrier lifetime, long carrier diffusion length, and high carrier mobility. However, their toxicity, instability, and phase degradation in ambient environments impede their large-scale applications. To address these concerns, it is desirable to find stable alternative halide perovskites without toxicity and with comparable optoelectronic properties to lead-based perovskites. Over the years, a considerable number of lead-free halide perovskites have been added to this family of materials, including A2B’B’’X6, A2BX6, and A3B2X9 type perovskites. Among these, double perovskites with the general formula A2B’B’’X6 are deemed to be a potential alternative to lead halide perovskites as they possess good stability under ambient conditions and excellent optoelectronic properties. In this review, recent progress in exploring Pb-free halide double perovskites is highlighted. The synthesis, composition-tuning, physical properties, and applications of representative 3D, 2D, and nanocrystal A2B’B’’X6 double perovskites are introduced. In addition, perspectives about current challenges and solutions in this field are also provided.
