The Baikal-Lensky State Natural Reserve was established in 1986. It covers a part of the north-western coastof Lake Baikal from Cape Onholoy to Cape Elokhin and the adjacent section of the Baikal ridge. The article describes thecharacteristics of the natural conditions of the reserve. Large-scale studies of the bryophyte flora in the reserve have not beencarried out. Currently, 195 species of bryophytes are known here (37 species of liverworts and 158 species of mosses). The listof bryophytes of the Baikal-Lensky Nature Reserve contains 33 species of liverworts and 135 leafy mosses. Platydictya acuminata (Lindb. et Arnel) Ignatov and Hamatocaulis vernicosus (Mitt.) Hedenäs are included in the Red Book of Irkutsk Oblast.Bryological material on the Baikal-Lensky nature reserve, collected by N. V. Stepantsova, has been analyzed. New species ofliverworts (4 species) and leafy mosses (19 species) were revealed. The territory of the Baikal-Lensky Nature Reserve requiresspecial bryological studies. Taking into account the peculiarities of the natural conditions of the reserve, we assume a significant replenishment of the list of bryoflora. We believe that the bryoflora of the Baikal-Lensky Reserve has been studied by lessthan 50 %. The detection of liverworts is approximately 25–30 %, leaf-stem mosses – 40–45 %.

The structure and spatial distributionof unicellular plankton of the river Usa, Usinsky Bay and the adjacent section of the Kuibyshev reservoir in the initial period of cyanobacterial bloom is discussed. The greatest development of plankton was recorded in the central part of Usinsky Bay. In the river part, the basis of the total plankton biomass was formed by heterotrophic bacteria and diatoms, and in the bay and reservoir –by cyanobacteria, mainly of the genera Aphanizomenon and Anabaena. Among eukaryotes in Usinskiy Bay, chlorophytesand diatoms prevailed, and in the reservoir - diatoms and ciliates. Another feature of plankton in the bay and reservoir was the increased proportion of heterotrophic bacteria and ciliates associated with cyanobacteria. The analysis of the structural transformation of communities made it possible to distinguish two main clusters of communities, "lotic" and "letic", which differ in their structure and quantitative characteristics.

Abstract Intussusception (IS) is defined as invagination of part of the bowel into an adjacent section of the intestines and is the second most common cause of small bowel obstruction in children. Postoperative ileoileal intussusception after surgical reduction is a special type of ileoileal intussusception and is considered idiopathic. This research paper examines the case of a female Syrian toddler who had been diagnosed with ileoileal intussusception after surgical reduction. Diagnosis of celiac disease was later histopathologically confirmed. Celiac disease (CD) may be the underlying cause for special types of intussusception that may be considered idiopathic, and further investigations, such as endoscopy, should be considered.

AbstractIn the efforts to map the Milky Way structure, the central regions have remained very difficult to probe. The VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea Survey (VVV) is a near-IR variability Survey that scans 560 sq.deg. across the Milky Way bulge and an adjacent section of the southern mid-plane. The main goal of the VVV Survey is to build a 3D map of the structure of the inner Galaxy and characterize its stellar populations. This survey has discovered different kinds of objects, such as globular clusters, Microlensing events, RR Lyrae stars, Cepheids, WITs, among others. The extension of the Survey (VVVX) is observing until 2020, tripling the areal coverage, and complementing the variability studies done by the VVV Survey.

A simple theoretical model is developed to predict the pressure transient within a gas-pressurized pipe when an adjacent section shatters into many fragments. Comparison with experiment shows that the model correctly predicts the general form of the transient over a wide range of bursting pressure and rupture zone lengths, though the measured initial depressurization rates all fall below the predicted values.

Examination of desmosomes in the spinous region of the epidermis of human skin reveals that the trilaminar structure, usually associated with desmosomes, is not always observed. Desmosomes were examined utilizing serial sectioning and tilting techniques to determine if the trilaminar structure is consistant throughout the desmosome. Concomitantly, information concerning the size and shape of the spinous layer desmosomes was obtained from examination of serial sections that completely transversed many desmosomes.Figures 1 and 2 are from a serial section series and demonstrate that the trilaminar structure of desmosomes (Dl and D2) can be observed in one section (figure 1) and not observed in an adjacent section (figure 2). Figure 3 thru Figure 6 are micrographs of the same section seen in Figure 2. These micrographs show the effect on the appearance of desmosomes Dl and D2 when they have been tilted about their longitudinal axes 5, 10, 20, and 30 degrees, respectively.
