Urban space is inherently uneven. Economic pursuits and commercial integrity translate urban space into categorization of haves and have-nots.Neo-Marxists theorize spatial disequilibrium through the dynamics of capital accumulation.Analysis of Last Man in Tower by Aravind Adiga helps to explorecity space as a commodified place that serves the interests of capital accumulation by converting it as a space of differences, struggles and negotiations. While examining spatial alienation, I probe the making of urban other who experiences, evictions, and displacements followed by the development projects of capital accumulation in the theoretical frame of David Harvey’s accumulation by dispossession. The urban space expands and grows not for the urban other but for the elitist consumption. This directs the argument to inspect the creation of a critical spatial consciousness to assert the urban other’s right to the city. By retaliating to their evictions and dispossessions they devise strategies for remaking their space through their lived daily experiences. This has been supported by the theoretical lens of Henri Lefebvre’s “The right to the city”. The selected fiction defines uneven city space whereby the spatial metamorphosis dispossesses and displaces the urban other andraises critical spatial consciousness to obstruct subsequent displacements.

The direction of housing development results from changes in the spatial consciousness of the society. The article, based on historical studies of Russian housing, hypothesizes that the development of the geometry of living quarters is characterized by cyclical changes. The spatial image of living premises as the basis of its reproduction is influenced by informational factors: external – inherent in the global design technology existing at a certain historical time, and internal, arising from the experience gained as a result of local construction. Both information streams change the state of political awareness that determines the direction of structural changes in the physical environment until they are effectively used.

There are several differences in architectural forms and cultural systems between the east and the west, which are attributed to different traditional philosophical ontologies. China takes "Tao" as its ideological basis emphasizes: "Nothing". Chinese fundamental principles are deeply related to philosophy and metaphysics. Traditional culture pursues spiritual connotations. Inversely, the west regards "Logos" as the origin of the world. This emphasizes the "being", with fundamental principles based in geometry, mathematics and science. The west has established a scientific spatial consciousness since the beginning of the Renaissance. It is based on mathematical relations and geometric principles, and focused on the pursuit of matter. "Logos" is an important aspect of Western philosophy, meaning that the “center”, the “source” or the “truth”, is a transcendental "presence." Pythagorean's mathematical theory and Plato's "rational" thinking are ultimately a variant of "Logos". The external imitation of nature in western classical gardens aims to explore the essence of nature. The separation of subject and object as the fundamental formula of Western philosophical epistemology has made mankind dominating nature for a long time. It leads to the deterioration of our living environment. Deconstructive philosophical thought is the subversion and criticism of the "Logos centralism" since ancient Greece. It eliminates the sense of "center" and the "subject-object dichotomy", which is the process of transforming "being" to "nothing". "Anthropocentrism" is disintegrated, when people and nature re-entered in an equal dialogue and symbiosis. Therefore, the symbiotic relationship between man and nature has been reshaped by the spirit of deconstruction. This is highly compatible with the ideological concept of "harmony between man and nature". The cultural spirit of harmony is precious in Chinese traditional philosophy. Taking the design project of the Innovation Pioneer Park of Wuhan University of Technology as a casestudy, this paper analyses the morphological deconstruction characteristics and their cultural connotation to contemporary Chinese courtyard spaces. It explores a design language and method that breaks through the traditional thinking paradigm, bridging it to characteristics of a particular era as well as the aesthetic appeal. This is not a universal design paradigm, but an exploratory series of philosophical speculative processes, which in turn can inform a dynamic and sustainable development. It shows ideological essence of reminiscent of culture and spirit of the traditional Chinese landscape. Contemporary people’s world views should be manifest. By doing so, it becomes a conceptual, radiant and pioneering Chinese cultural spiritual symbol in a chaotic contemporary society.

With the transformation of media technology and social context in the new era, image provides auxiliary strategies for the diversified manifestations of culture in the process of communication. Traditional design drawings are increasingly unable to meet the new context requirements of modern architectural culture communication in terms of expression mode and acceptance by the public. As a new form of cultural dissemination or another way: digitization, imagery, narrative, and popular expression have begun to arouse discussion and thinking. With the help of digital technology as an expression of visual media, this paper tries to explore the potential of “image” as a medium to depict space, which brings about spatial situational experience and narrative expression. In addition, through montage and axonometric space operation, we explore the theory and practice in the narrative strategy of images, so as to build a bridge of communication between spatial experience of spatial consciousness and images. To be more precise, it emphasizes the connection between the image using digital technology as the medium and the spatial experience, and then uses the key of “imagine” to sort out the context of spatial awareness and emotional cognition.

The article presents a comprehensive model of upbringing and education, which is based on the principle of cosmic consciousness. Summarizing modern approaches to cosmic consciousness, it is possible to single out a number of characteristics that deter-mine the consideration in the formation of the needs of schoolchildren, pedagogical conditions, thanks to the formation of cosmic consciousness, the results and achieve-ment of the child's sensations, the proposed theoretical approaches and their implemen-tation also form favorable educational conditions that can be important for the formation the child has cosmic consciousness.

Lately, in Romania and abroad, research about the hidden agendas of educational discourses circulated by school textbooks has become richer. This research focuses on the process of bordering that took place in 1918 and the creation of Greater Romania and on the new borders and their representations in Geography school textbooks before and after that year. These representations are considered in the form of both text and images. First, I describe these representations and, secondly, I uncover and explain their intentions in the respective historical and geographical contexts. As History and Geography have been always viewed among the most influential subject matters in school, I employed visual methodology and discourse analysis to study Geography of Romania school textbooks – officially accepted products. The research material is made of Geography school textbooks. From a temporal perspective, my research material includes textbooks that were circulated starting with 1902 and in the 1930s. In addition, I assessed the degree to which Geography education was politicized. Results showed that, in the first half of the 20th century, the wished-for or newly-established and contested borders of Romania generated a lengthy and argumentative discourse about state borders and about the history and geography of the territories inhabited by Romanians. Ethnocultural identity concepts and conceptions of national identity were provided for the young and not only. Geography of Romania school textbooks were not apolitical, but reinforced a socio-spatial consciousness, based on the natural and anthropic features of the borders and on how they were represented, revealing the social practice of the educational discourse about border areas.

AbstractWe report a case series of four patients operated on for a glioma in awake conditions and in whom task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) demonstrated right-dominant activity during a language production task. Language functional sites were identified intraoperatively by electrical stimulations only in the patient with a right-sided lesion. Furthermore, the pre- or postoperative cognitive evaluations in the three patients operated on for a left-sided glioma revealed right spatial neglect and dysexecutive syndrome, hence demonstrating that, in patients with right-dominant activity on language fMRI, the left hemisphere is implicated in spatial consciousness and cognitive control. This study supports the interest of presurgical task-based language fMRI to identify patients with a reversed lateralization of cognitive functions and to make an adequate selection of the battery of intraoperative cognitive tasks to be monitored in those rare outliers.
