As one of the areas with frequent earthquake disasters, China’s social stability and sustained and healthy economic development have been profoundly affected for a long time. Based on the two-way fixed effect model and a series of deterministic indicators of economic development, including education level, economic development, financial development, fixed asset investment and permanent population, this paper designs a standard regression equation for estimating growth and uses time series panel data to analyze the impact of earthquake disasters on China’s economic development. The research results show that the earthquake disaster has an insignificant positive impact on China’s GDP. From the point of view of control variables, education level and financial development level have a positive effect on economic development as a whole, but there are certain differences in the degree of influence. The degree of trade openness has a significant impact on GDP, industry and service industries. Moreover, it has a negative impact on agricultural development.

The purpose of STIBA Makassar Real Work Lecture (KKN) with the concept of “KKN Kemanusiaan of West Sulawesi” is to realize community service which is a pillar of “Tri Darma Perguruan Tinggi”. The method of implementing this program is to map the problem using SOAR analysis. After analyzing the problems and needs of the community, several appropriate work programs are prepared. Successful work programs are Dirosah Method of Al-Qur’an Learning, Weekly Taklim, Community Service, Tablig Akbar, TK/ TPA, Clean Friday, and others. The results of the activities showed that STIBA students are able to serve the people affected by the disaster seriously so that they get a lot of social experience. The community of Ulumanda, especially in Kabiraan village, feel very helped by the presence of students during KKN there and fully support the implementation of “KKN Kemanusiaan STIBA Makassar” for the recovery of the state of the community after the earthquake disaster. All parties expect the sustainability of KKN activities in terms of construction both formally and non-formally for Kabiraan village.

Efficient risk communication is aimed at improving the supply of risk information to meet the information needs of individuals, thus reducing their vulnerability when facing the risk of emergency. There is little information available in the literature regarding information preference from an individual’s need perspective, and there is a lack of differentiation in evaluation between information need and supply. Under the guidance of the crisis stage analysis theory, using multiple response analysis and weighted analysis methods, this study explores earthquake disaster information content and communication channel preferences, and develops an information deviation index (IDI) to evaluate the efficiency of risk communication before, during, and after an earthquake. A questionnaire-based survey of 918 valid respondents in Songyuan, China, which had been hit by a small earthquake swarm, was conducted to provide practical evidence for this study. The results indicated the following. Firstly, the information needs of individuals are highly differentiated in the different stages of an earthquake. From pre-disaster to post-disaster, individuals show a shift in information need from “preparedness and response knowledge” to “disaster information”, then to “disaster information and disaster relief information” in parallel, to “reconstruction and reflection information”. Based on the above analysis, a composition of the main earthquake disaster information is proposed for different stages. Secondly, by measuring the values of the IDI, we found that most individuals’ information needs were met for the earthquake. Thirdly, the TV and the internet were the two preferred commutation channels for acquiring disaster information from among all the effective channels in all the stages.

The study of evacuation behavior in response to disaster is necessary for emergency traffic management. As decision-making is not exclusively dependent on observable variables, in this research, it is attempted to study the evacuation choice behavior pattern in emergency response to earthquake disaster by considering both physical and behavioral factors. Personality traits are measured as behavioral latent factors by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the short form of NEO-Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). A revealed preference survey with more than 700 samples was conducted in Qazvin city (Iran) which was based on real-life earthquake experience and the stated preference survey was conducted for six designated scenarios with different severities and times of earthquakes. Analysis of evacuation behavior is conducted by 3 types of discrete choice models (traditional binary logit model (TBLM), hybrid binary logit model (HBLM), and random parameters/mixed binary logit model (MBLM)). First, TBLM is estimated to study the effect of observable variables on response of people to earthquake disaster. Then, by adding the personality traits to modeling structure and constructing HBLM, the correct prediction percentage of the model increased. This study also considers heterogeneous mixtures of population in terms of income, family size, and five factors of personality traits by MBLM. The MBLM captures the heterogeneous responses of the respondent. By considering these variables as random parameters, the Log Likelihood function and pseudo square (ρ2) of the model increased.
